This truck is an off-road sleeper. I took mine to the off-road park with our bikes and it is surprisingly good. My passenger said his jeep wouldn't make it up the hills I was climbing. Whether that is true or not who knows. He was surprised that I could follow a dirt bike. It comes with a posi-rear end and full locking diff from the factory. My brother's newer Tundra 4x4 got stuck in the snow, I pushed right through. Got it new in 2001 and still going strong in 2024 pulling my trailer.
Some people don't deserve nice things. I have the same truck in the 2000 model. It's not a "monster truck". It's a work truck that is 4x4 to save your ass from getting stuck in bad conditions. When you wind up getting it stuck, or causing several thousand dollars of damage, because you were stupid enough to purposely drive it into a flooded gulley, don't cuss the truck. Cuss your own stupidity. Go drink another sixer of bud. I wouldn't do this at my drunkest. At least get some mud tires.
that truck would’ve done a lot better if there was a better driver behind the wheel. i have a 4.7l automatic four door and ive had my truck in actual mud not muddy water and been in and out without a chain this video is far from surprising
I can already see the listing for this truck. "!!04 Dakota 4x4 great condition! Never drove in the rain! Adult owned been very well taken care of! Never been off road! This thing has been babied its entire life!"
@Julia, Im with you on this one, my wife has a 2000 dakota extended cab 4x4, she takes that thing places that no other truck can or ever will go, she runs the skidder roads day in and day out, she works on heavey equipment, where it breaks down, is where she fixes it, she has no lift kit, it sits on 33in tires, she has only needed help once to get unstuck as she got high centered, I am impressed every time I see her pulling up to my skidder with my lunch, she can out drive most men, dodge 4ever.
its now 2020 and poor Branden's kota is no longer with us today. Sadly Branden forgot the simple equation of, dodge truck times body of water divided by mud slinging tires = rust and lots of it. may we all take a moment of silence and pray for the others whom are now using parts from Branden's parted out dakota. hurts to see one less second gen on the roads, lest we forget.
need tires buck. Its not a monster truck but it will get you out of hairy situations in a mud bogged field while hunting. Lots of power for a quarter ton but you need to realize it is just a quarter ton.
I just picked up that exact truck but with slt package with a timing chain noise for 3k. Only makes a slight noise on start and runs great guy was afraid to drive it truck is mint like new condition. Great trucks if you don't mind putting a little extra fuel in the tank.
MrNascarfan1 My wife loves it and 4 doors is great for kids. I took a personal loan out and my bank valued it at 8300 so great deal I think. I got it from a long time friend .
i bought an 03 extended cab at the beginning of summer for 500 needed head gaskets both sides i fixed it runs great now but your right they are very thirsty indeed.
have the 4.7 slt 2wd and damn does is just go through mud, buddy got stuck in mis car and i just kinda drove out to him didnt realize that we were in like 8 inches of mud, couldnt get him out but he wasnt by himself : )
We all was a kid once. Let him have fun at least he is not out breaking the law and selling drugs. Have fun little man. Don't listen to all the negative comments most are jealous
@themantouf I'm not sayin there's anything wrong with off roadin, but this guys is clearly treatin his truck like shit, I never let my intake get below water level for that long and just keep flooring it...
Why are people saying the truck is being ruined?? Do they understand what off-roading is? It is not ruined, and neither is the transmission. Definitely less damage than hauling a trailer or even a boat. The most dangers are to the drivetrain or suspension. Whereas on pavement this truck is prone to being driven like a bitch. This is where the truck shines. Obviously people prefer mall crawlers over extra-curricular activities.
im not a dodge fan at all but good drivin considering the lack of mus ties and you could have gotten out of that last hole if your buddies would have told ya how to position yourself
if he had good mud tires on that truck it would have been a cake walk. I have a 2004 dakota and it's a nice truck. I would never do this to it. lol Maybe when it's about ready to die.
@TheJuliastowe you dont need momentum if you have traction. if you want to start talking about vehicle dynamics i suggest you argue with someone else as I am a liscenced Mechanic.
@TheJuliastowe and why is that genius? i suppose youre one of those people who just hammer through everything and break shit. that isnt the proper way to wheel.
This makes me sad, I'm gonna give my Dakota a hug
Same man
Me to
Lol

Jesus....All he had to do was keep the tires straight. Apparently he's never driven in snow before.
that truck did vary good for being stock
i was just thinking the same thing

That kid needs a attitude adjustment WOW!

This makes me miss my Dakota soooo much :(
My dad just passed me down his 07 Dakota need to fix the rust just a little by the fender flares
Its like watching an animal being beaten towards the end...

No the water cooled it down
Why are you ruining such a nice truck why are you abusing it
Bad driver bad tires!
Badass truck, I have a 99 Dakota. What engine is in this? And what kind of bumper guard is that?
its now 2020 and poor Branden's kota is no longer with us today. He might survive if he actually blasted the entire belly with rhino liner
Those Dakota's got full locker front diff.. right out of the factory
That poor Dak

If this truck is still around. I’d make an offer for it
What exhaust do you have on this dakota
I have a 2004 Dakota also and my exhaust sounds similar. Mine has a flowmaster 44 series on it.
Why are people saying the truck is being ruined?? Do they understand what off-roading is? It is not ruined, and neither is the transmission.

Overall nice truck. Looking to buy a newer Dakota, which is what brings me here.

Sweet truck.I got 01 4.7 motor
I'm in the same boat as you lol. Any major flaws with these trucks other than this guys driving lol

Is this truck still alive? The driver is the man
All these dudes complaining about him "beatin' his truck up" is pretty funny. Bet y'all complain when WhistlinDiesel destroys a truck too huh xD
Good ~ dakota~ from korea
Nice truck but you need mud tires and a lift. Car tires don't work to well in that shit.
Me: Just a Dakota repetitive ditch crossing..
Creator: mudfest 🤦🏼♂️
