Brother I could not agree more. I am actually surprised that they don’t. I keep my fingers crossed every day that one of these big chains will do just that.
Something to consider is getting a planet fitness membership, I pay like $25 a month I think, with that you can get into any PF. A huge bonus (nearly half the reason I got it) is Rey have showers. So If I’m not near a truck stop, or I don’t have any showers I go to the gym to shower. They are usually in big open warehouse lots so you could even stay the night if you can find any parking… I’ve done that a few times. Another thing I try to do is pushups when ever I stop for a break or fuel, if you do like 10 every time you stop you should be at like 30-40 minimum for the day. Then just keep doing more. Food is huge, I used to have snacks then I started only buying healthy things like fruits, but the problem for me was that I get bored, not hungry so I eat to pass time. Anyways long story short I was gaining weight even while having fruits instead of chips, so about 2 months ago I decided to have absolutely no snacks in arms reach ( I have food in a storage cabinet just invade I get stranded) and I’ve been fine. I’m not dying of hunger lol then I moved into trying to eat one meal for a late lunch / early dinner, time goes by faster in the morning because I’m waiting to eat lol and once I eat I’m good for the rest of the day. Something important to remember is understanding that some foods make you more hungry. Carbs ( pizza, bread, doughnuts etc) make you more hungry. Start eating foods that fill you up. Look up what’s a good food that leaves you feeling full for a while and try to eat that more. Another big thing is liquid calories are way harder to get out of your body and lose. If you’re going to be unhealthy then eat snacks but drink more water. Get a case of Poland spring, (good tasting spring water) and drink that as you drive… I’ll give you something to do and you won’t feel as hungry with all that water. Hopes this helps
Great info brother. Funny enough the free passes I spoke of are from Planet fitness and yes the shower part rocks as well as the open parking areas. Keep up the good work 👍
@@lifedrivefitness9123 haha thank you, I’m trying to stay fit like you. No need to let this job bring us health problems. Thanks for bring this topic up. Definitely something we all should be more vigilant about
I'm a serious victim of long hours, fast food for convience and after years and years it caught up with me even though I worked out alot. I'd like to see your food prep while we're on the road.
yes, I encourage everyone - no matter how old they are to exercise. 4 years ago at 53, I started back running, and lifting after a 25 year break- LOL ( I can run 6 miles, and do a pretty decent 30 minute weight lifting session) -- sure it didn't happen overnight -- but it's a little bit at a time and be consistent that adds up.
Whats going on bro. I'm doing the same thing. Staying ripped OTR. It's challenging. I meal prep for my entire journeys. Haven touched fast food even once. I got all my equipment under my bunk and focus on calisthenics as well. Much respect to anyone that does this and going the extra "mile". Lol. Good work!!
Seeing you fit like this give me big time motivation I meal prep each week and workout 3 to 4 days a week while on road I have all my trips planned to where to stop along the way I’m happy seeing other drivers doing workouts
this is whats nice about regional i go home every 5or6 days to eat real food and bring it with me on the road but i still prolly eat breakfast a couple times a week on the road or burrito at loves or wherever for excersise i go every other day i do pushups or pullups i alternate and i do 90 percent drop n hook so a stubborn crank handle is a good workout too
Good to see I'm not the only one! I'm a retired full time RVer with my wife! Also a former trucker and vet! Over 60! Lol however, I can hand wax my 37ft RV, hotrod, custom bike and custom trailer! I have a friend captain crosier who is 94 and still working out and chasing women in California! He says stop exercising, and your dead! Keep up the good work, its motivation for others!
Thanks so much brother and that is awesome to hear about you and your friend. I am super happy to hear you are getting to enjoy life now after all your hard work.
I could really use some of this content. 62 years old, been driving for 35 years, I don’t eat fast food I eat in my truck most times. Not over weight but not exactly in great shape either.
Definitely all about diet and morning fasted Cardio/jog always helped my get my head on right and it help with appetite management along with planing for the day and everything . And I would haul bands and a set of adjustable dumbbells 5-75 in pounds with me along with push-ups and pulls of the back off my flatbed. Stop at gyms when we I could or on down times. Hard part was often time finding parking or have to walk a lil ways. But it really is 70% about your food.
I recommend to all drivers to do kegel exercises, it is good for men's health and may prevent hemorrhoids Do squads with combining biceps ( position, room in the cab , size of the guy, may limit that) using steering wheel, move sit all way back. 5'10" guy very possible in Coronado. I can do that on straight sections.
Off and on I had a shake weight. Google or Amazon it. Not sure how good it did but easy to use in the truck. Since became a flat bedder now best exercise I can do is extra walking.
Hello my friend. I just wanted to say you look awesome and you set a great example that just because you are a OTR Truck Driver and are away from home doesn't mean you have to have unhealthy eating habits and can not have ant options to excerecise and work out Thank you for making these videos. One by one starting with you CAN slowly but surely make more and more Truck Drivers will start putting the effort into eating healthy on the road and working out and excerecise to not only look better but of course to be a lot healthier.! Thanks Again.
Had to take a serious look at diet and exercise after a number of trips to the emergency room One thing that has helped the cardio health is running in place 20 seconds rest 10 seconds .8 sets of these gives the same conditioning as a 45 to 60 minute run in 4 minutes.
It is OK if you drive through sunny areas, but I live in west of WA and do exercises outside under heavy rain is not fun. I switch from OTR to local and it's keeping me healthy when I do loading and unloading and have more access to healthy food
Yes rain can be a bitch for sure lol I have done some workouts inside a drive-in before if there’s room at the back or when I’m unloaded. Shopping on the road is easier now that Walmarts have a food section. Stay tuned for some future videos for tips on shopping and even workouts inside your cab.💪
Hi I would love to hear more from you ? Please make a video about the meals which u carry along. As we know food is the important part of body building
Push-ups look good, back straight 👍but military Push-ups you look at the wall or imaginary wall in front of you. Never look down at the ground. It adds a little more difficulty to them. So head up, and look forward. Good video. Thanks
I bought a floor peddler. Nothing crazy and it can fold up somewhat to be out of the way. Pop on a movie and pedal away till it's over. I have a hard time falling asleep. Can't wait for the mentor/training time sleeping in the same truck... The pedal machine helps. I try to make it as close to the last thing I do before going to sleep. The recovery cycle of the body right after exercise seems to be just enough for me to fade out and zzzzzzzzzz. Although miss that window and it's 1 2 3 4- 545,643,643,234 whatevers I am counting on the ceiling till dreamtime then it's do doa doa doo doo. Fuck me that's the alarm to get up....
Haha loved reading that👍 good to see you found something that works for you. Maybe you could take a picture and post it as well and where you got that. You could also try some melatonin to help you sleep
can you do a video on how to make lean muscle? I don't want to get into body building but definitely want to work on building muscle on my lean body lol.. Keep these type of content coming!!
I'm 49 and toying with switching into trucking. I like the quiet time. I like listening to books. I like seeing varied scenery. It would be great to have my own truck! However, the health side is really concerning. I don't like to sit still and staying in one spot for ten hours each day would be really bad for me. Maybe these exercises and healthy eating will make it possible.
Hey thank you so much brother for the kind words. I truly do try to be humble. When I had to close my gym it was one of the saddest days ever because there is nothing I enjoy more than helping others. I’m happy these videos can help people as well.
After working in a correctional facility & watching inmates workout with nothing, not having access to equipment is no excuse. Good video !
Thank You very much. I think sometimes it is just lack of knowledge that it’s possible. We plan on more videos like this .
Truck stops have a dog park... they should also have an exercise room with barbells and dumbbells and benches Etc!
Brother I could not agree more. I am actually surprised that they don’t. I keep my fingers crossed every day that one of these big chains will do just that.
