- The First Giants : Sons of Gaia
The Gigantes are the giants of Greek Mythology. The Children of Gaia, the earth mother, they later rebelled at her instigation against Zeus and his rule.
Living Mythology is an attempt to entertain, relax and educate all in the one place. We are trying to forge narratives so that people can experience the religions and mythologies of the world as they were meant to be. Not as dry academic monoliths, but as living breathing tales and parables as experienced by the peoples who worshipped these beings, in an attempt to make sense of their own lives and the world around them.
This channel is in its infancy, so we hope to improve and develop it as we gain more experience.
All of the tales are taken from very conflicting traditions across many centuries, so there will be many a moment when decisions need to be made to create a more cohesive narrative. If we present something that seems to be in contrast to details, rest assured we have researched many forms of the traditions and come to the conclusions we have done to form the videos.
There will NEVER be total agreement on any of these narratives due to the history and differing ways they developed over the centuries.
These videos are for entertainment and an easy gateway to the subject. If you wish more academic details then please direct your attention to the wide source material and others who perform those types of academic video essays.

Also, I think it's an interesting dynamic to think about, that I see both sides to. Gaia wants to have her family free, happy, and in harmony; but Zeus has to rule, and that requires pragmatic decision making.
For example, given the power of the Titans and the bad blood between the lines, I would argue that there is no way Zeus could realistically let the free. They would never get over the war, time does not heal all wounds for those time has no effect on. The one thing I believe he truly did wrong was swallowing his first wife. Even when he punished Prometheus it was out of concern for Gaia.
Also he has shown clemency to those who had not done wrong, like the titaness' who stayed their hand in the war.
I understand the need for Gaia to have her children free, but as ruler Zeus has to keep the peace, and those things come into conflict.
Isn't it just?
There is never just one side to a story, and exploring this aspect is especially fun with all powerful gods.

Another slam-dunk, touchdown, home run, goal from half field for Light and Baldy.
To truly capture the Earth herself. To embody her feelings of loss and betrayal. To make the listener rile in their hearts. For the first half, she was telling her story, but the second half rallies the audience to her cause. I want to help her take down Zeus. I want to help her get her family straight. This old soul is moved to fire and fury for Mother Gaia....and that is because of you Living Mythology.

I would so love to hear you folks narrate the mythologies of both the Norse gods and those of various Indigenous tribes of North America. There are some absolutely wonderful stories, including some that would make a Space Marine shudder. Just loved this!

As a huge greek myth fan, I just want to thank you and all who made this channel and videos. In greek myths most stories and actions are vague. I always wondered why Gaia turned on the Olympians after the titan battles because the surviving stories don't really say. The way you guys explained it makes perfect sense why she sent the giants and later Typhoon to attack them. Keep up the great work and keep on adding great motivations for the gods that the original tellings left out. ♥

As you say we have a lot of events but not much inner working or motivation as to why people turn on one another or suddenly shift, we like to imagine the bits in between.

Holy frick, I know this is meant to forshadow later Greek mythology events, but GODS could Gaia's speech at the end there be easily applied as a metaphor for a climate apocalyptic prophesy.
Gaia: "He killed my sons who were helping Kronos fight the war!! What a cruel traitor and evil tyrant!!!"
