All GOT comparisons aside, this guy is one of the BEST pedal reviewers on youtube. Really thorough demos, super in depth use, and he isn't trying to get you to sell you the gear. Subscribed!
Lovely demo! I was kinda on the fence between this and the TC Electronic Sub n' Up mini, but this really convinced me I've got to have that "Swell" feature!!
Excited for this pedal to join my acoustic pedalboard. glad to stumbled upon your channel since I didn't know what type of music I am playing, til now. Thanks!
Love those combined octive sounds. I have got some goto sounds using a Boss ME 8 effect processor. I just got an updated ME 80 and am looking forward to digging into it for the harmonizing and octave capabilities. Those beautyful tones and chordal melodic sounds u got from about 3:10 or so until 6:00 just get into my inner world so much. Thanks for what you are doing. I have been playing ambient meditative music for a long long time and I just really appreciate and resonate with your material.
Best review video I've seen.I bought one of these a couple of days ago on the strength of your demo .The swell option gives some interesting cello and violin-like sounds.Nice bit of kit.
Ooh. I like that idea. I have 4 octave pedals now, however, I am missing a POG. Seems like that would need to be part of the shootout, don't you think?
I love the swell function! I have the first version, and do sort of a mock swell using delay and a volume pedal, but it would be nice to have that as an option. Thanks for the review!
I'm working on a group called "Wafers of Uranus ". This pedal will pucker a sphincter or two. A must have. I'm ording one as soon as my suppository kicks in. Seriously...cool pedal.
6:01 ~~ pure sonic bliss. Looking at your signal path in the description, then, you're getting the "distortion" you mention in the title text from the Strymon overdrive? So distortion before octaver? Thank you.
Yep - the Strymon is providing the distortion, and I did indeed place it before the octave so I was octave dividing the distorted tone instead of distorting the divided tone.
In the first part of the demo, before ya kicked in the delay, the sounds ya were pullin' off sounded very reminiscent to early recordings by Genesis. Sounds that I've heard Steve Hackett, Mike Rutherford, and even Daryl Stuermer pull off. Keep up the good work!
I am certainly influenced by Hackett and Rutherford, so not surprised. That being said, the octave setting can be used to simulate some of the feel of a 12-string, so you can definitely telegraph early Genesis with it.
Been sitting on purchasing the ocean machine for about a year now. Pulling the trigger. People really need to spend more time with the gear they have instead of selling it after a couple months. But whatever. This mooer pedal sounds awesome. I remembered u have a whammi pedal tho.
Nice playing, I had the older model Moor not nearly as rich, deep and warm as the programmable TC Sub n Up mini, IMO. This new one seems a bit better than the old one with it's options however.
This one is the new version. The quality of the effect is overall worse, but it has more functions. Your version is a clone of the Nano Pog. It's so similar that Moer got prosecuted by Electro-Harmonix, hence why they made a new version. You should be happy, your version is extremely rare, and the quality is astounding compared to other cheap octave pedals!
the first edition of the tender octaver was much more accurate, so polyphony and full chords sounded pretty good. unfortunatley it was stollen from my car along with my guitar. had to get the mkII bcz it was impossible to find the mkI, so i enjoy the swell, but again - less accurate.
Wow only 50 bucks! I love the ambient music you create, but the price of some of these boutique pedals can be down right extreme, it's nice to see a good sounding pedal for under a $100.00. Thank you!
Greetings! I saw a video of an octaver, using it to make a 6 string guitar to sound like a 12 string guitar. Looked very good. I am a strummer and would love to learn a bit about ambient guitar as a strummer. Would greatly appreciate your recommendations. I already have a BOSS RV-6 and CHorus CE-2W.
I bought one of these but had to return it. Maybe it was defective. The thing made a lot of unwanted hissing and noise even when turned off and when I changed the switch the noise would change also. I eliminated the pedal from my chain and noise is gone. Oh well. I don't recommend it. I do not believe it is true bypass. Maybe I'll try TC's SubnUp
Sure! Check out my video on ambient guitar lead tones, and then just throw the Octaver in for the octave sounds. ua-cam.com/video/lTkJcYhss6E/v-deo.html
I can't wait to plug mine in... Very nice video that shows another potential than the one usually presented for this pedal. Is your octaver before or after the distortion on your branch line? Do we agree that your delay is in the effects loop? Best musical wishes for 2020. 😉
Thanks Bill, great review as usual! Recently I've been wondering if "Sub 2" knobs on such octaver pedals (for instance on TC Electronic's Sub'n'up) are really worth it... What's your opinion/feedback about it, do you sometimes use this extra knob when available?
Good question! I've not tried it with a bass, so am not sure. I can say from using other octaver pedals, that I find sub octaves less useful than octave up.
Yes. I have one and use it on my bass. It's incredible! I've also sometimes run it through the side chain loop, put only the high octave on and run a distortion, then blend with my original bass signal.
It's a cool pedal but you lost some functionality from the original. No more double octaves. I don't know if I'd rather have those organ sounds or that lovely hypnotic swelling sound. Mainly I just want to mix out the dry and the upper and turn my guitar into a bass guitar for the loops. A lot of pedals can do that. I just need to figure out which one does it with the coolest features and for an affordable price.
That's surprising. You give off a real smokehound vibe, no offense. Not even in your physical appearance, just in your vibe. I pegged you as a stay high type guy. Especially in the one tutorial where you started at the camera for a full minute before realizing you were on camera. I quit grass around 2010 personally.
MONEY DID CHANGE HANDS WHEN EHX SUED AND WON A LAWSUIT against MOOER THIS IS a cut and paste COPY OF an EHX PEDAL. Two of Mooer's effects pedals, an organ simulator named the "Mooergan" and an octave pedal called the "Tender Octaver" included exact copies of the compiled software contained in EHX's C9 Organ Machine and Micro POG pedals. The infringement was so bold and blatant that Shenzhen Mooer audaciously copied the Electro-Harmonix copyright notice in the software powering the C9 and Micro POG. After becoming aware of this piracy, Electro-Harmonix retained counsel and aggressively sought recourse.
Nice, I had a sub n up Octaver, sold it and got this pedal with half the $ from selling the sub n up, and I got ripped off as always when selling used gear. Just shows how affordable these are and I truly like it better than the sub n up. The eh pitchfork is still my fave tho
It’s nice to see Sir Davos finally got over the Battle of the Blackwater
Ha, so it wasn't just me... :-) :- ) :-)
ODENticalll
Well it's clearly not Sir Davos.
This guy's still got all his fingers.
Hodor!
Straight to the Battle of Sweetwater. 😂
All GOT comparisons aside, this guy is one of the BEST pedal reviewers on youtube. Really thorough demos, super in depth use, and he isn't trying to get you to sell you the gear. Subscribed!
👍👍
Just ..... Thrilling! This swell mode gives infinite possibilities to create remarkable moody moments on songs.... Amazing. Hard to not get addicted.
I love this guys passion and obvious love for what he does!! We need more of that!!
He obviously feels the music.
Just passed by to tell you you're one of the best guys on youtube right now! Thank YOU!
Lovely demo! I was kinda on the fence between this and the TC Electronic Sub n' Up mini, but this really convinced me I've got to have that "Swell" feature!!
I'm sold! Best octaver for me, period. Wonderful demonstration buddy, you should be hired by MOOER. My pedal on the way already.
Excited for this pedal to join my acoustic pedalboard. glad to stumbled upon your channel since I didn't know what type of music I am playing, til now. Thanks!
This is great!! The wet-only swells are just what I've been looking for for my stereo delay...sounds like a string section!
Finally some1 showed me how this pedal sound with distortion and delay, very good review.
This thing gives a hell of a Hendrix tone. I use it for a year an it just blows me away, and also quite cheap too, love this thing and nice video.
Really good ,concise ,clear review, told me what I wanted to know.Thanks.

That guitar is a beauty! Thanks for the demo!
You are welcome!
Could you do something like an 'Ambient Octave Shootout!', I'm looking for an octave but can't decide on which one to get!
Ooh. I like that idea. I have 4 octave pedals now, however, I am missing a POG. Seems like that would need to be part of the shootout, don't you think?
Yeah, I think so :)
Chords Of Orion What's your favorite?
If possible you should include the ammoon OCTA too (another budget pedal). Would love a full comparison!!!
His videos are always top notch. So thorough and pleasant demos too!
Who needs yoga when you got Chords of Orion?
I love your peaceful voice!
The pedal sounds great but I watched the demo to hear some awesome ambient sounds. Right up my alley.
Outstanding demo - i bought the pedal because of this
Great!
I love the swell function! I have the first version, and do sort of a mock swell using delay and a volume pedal, but it would be nice to have that as an option. Thanks for the review!
You are welcome!
I want this man to narrate my life story. Wicked review. Looking for something that doesn’t break the bank!
It's the Bob Ross of guitar !!! You just need an afro bro...
LOL - so true! :)
Ehx just won a copy right infringement againat mooer for this pedal. Better buy them while you can
Elisandro De Leon that was for the original octaver. This is the reissue which has been changed in response to the infringement.
I'm working on a group called "Wafers of Uranus ". This pedal will pucker a sphincter or two. A must have. I'm ording one as soon as my suppository kicks in.
Seriously...cool pedal.

+Chords Of Orion that makes sense. Thank you sir!

Thank you for demo. This pedal sounds interesting, especially the swell effects sound like fiddles.
Glad I came across this channel. Very nice! Compliments
It's similar to boss superoctave?
Holy Molly. I think I'll get Tender Octaver Pro after this. That thing have even more controls.
How bass guitar friendly is this effect pedal?
Thanks Mr. Fripp
WOW what a great sound!
Been sitting on purchasing the ocean machine for about a year now. Pulling the trigger. People really need to spend more time with the gear they have instead of selling it after a couple months. But whatever. This mooer pedal sounds awesome. I remembered u have a whammi pedal tho.
Wow, that swell setting is worth the price alone!
Fantastic demo, thank you so much.
You are welcome!
wow to you´re taste in time and dynamics and fregs and what ¬....
Killer pedal and really nice riffing.
Thanks!
Gracias
Oh man, just bought it to put it in my super ego fx loop. Now I'm not sure, if it's too good to be just put in the loop.
Interesting how it SUDDENLY sounds really synthy as soon as you add distortion ...
Does it have the same sound of the first one? Or is it better?
Nice playing, I had the older model Moor not nearly as rich, deep and warm as the programmable TC Sub n Up mini, IMO. This new one seems a bit better than the old one with it's options however.
I have a tender octaver , but it doesn't have a switch in the middle 🤔
What's the difference
This one is the new version. The quality of the effect is overall worse, but it has more functions.
Your version is a clone of the Nano Pog. It's so similar that Moer got prosecuted by Electro-Harmonix, hence why they made a new version.
You should be happy, your version is extremely rare, and the quality is astounding compared to other cheap octave pedals!
Can it handle playing chords? ie more than one string being played at once?
the first edition of the tender octaver was much more accurate, so polyphony and full chords sounded pretty good.
unfortunatley it was stollen from my car along with my guitar.
had to get the mkII bcz it was impossible to find the mkI, so i enjoy the swell, but again - less accurate.
Interesting information. I never tried the first edition, so was not able to compare.
I wonder how it will sound with Fuzz
Please make a demo wih the pro version too! I can't find a decent in all the web!!! This is a very well done video for the MK2 version indeed...!
At the swell mode, can you somehow make it sound like cello?
Bill, did the “confusion” come more on the octave up or the octave down?
Wow only 50 bucks! I love the ambient music you create, but the price of some of these boutique pedals can be down right extreme, it's nice to see a good sounding pedal for under a $100.00. Thank you!
You are welcome!!
Where are you able to purchase?! I wanna get it. Looking for a link.
more than anything, you make me want a Strymon delay (^8
Is the the little pedal that's been making all the big trouble?

I eliminated the pedal from my chain and noise is gone. Oh well. I don't recommend it. I do not believe it is true bypass. Maybe I'll try TC's SubnUp
TC SubNUp is definitely worth a look. It is very quiet too.
Hey can you please tell me how to get that sound from the intro? Anyone?
Sure! Check out my video on ambient guitar lead tones, and then just throw the Octaver in for the octave sounds. ua-cam.com/video/lTkJcYhss6E/v-deo.html
I think I might pick this up. The swell mode sold me
Yup me too. Ordered.
I can't wait to plug mine in...
Very nice video that shows another potential than the one usually presented for this pedal.
Is your octaver before or after the distortion on your branch line?
Do we agree that your delay is in the effects loop?
Best musical wishes for 2020. 😉
Amazing.
Hi! I have a question. To swell funcion, does this pedal work as good as Mooer's Slow Engine? Or does this one do the job better? Thanks in advance.
The Tender only swells in the octave. It does not swell in the dry signal. So the Slow Engine is a better dedicated auto-swell pedal.
Chords Of Orion , thank you very much!
Hey, what's your opinion on the Mooer Tender Octaver MKII vs the TC Sub 'N' Up that you demoed earlier?
The Tender Octaver is a good mono pedal, and I do like the swell option. If you want a polyphonic Octaver, the Sub N Up is the way to go.
Chords Of Orion Wait, so the Mooer isn't polyphonic?
I will let Mooer answer that one. Here are my thoughts in the conclusion of the video: ua-cam.com/video/HnE36q_I0tg/v-deo.htmlm19s
Ah, I see, thanks.
Am I correct if I feel like the upper octave is kind of weak on the Sub 'n' Up, even at full volume?
Cheers! Great demo, awesome song passages! One question: does this work on bass as well?
Sorry if this is an idiotic question but could an octave pedal be used to simulate a 12-string sound?
Yes it can - as long as you view it as a simulation.
Thank you!! Love your channel/music by the way
I've read complaints that these can be pretty noisy. Did you find that to be the case?
I would agree that the smaller Mooer pedals (at least the ones that I have used) can be a little noisy. This one is not too bad.
Nice pedal, a shame there is not any swell delay control
True - however for the price, it's still a great feature, and it works really well.
Isn't the version 1 discontinued because the legal issue with EHX
Nicolás Dragaš Yeah it is, so it has a cometely different algorithm to the POG
nice demo. thankyou
Cool review , what Delay are you using ?
BUY IT BEFORE EHX PULLS IT OUT AGAIN!!!!!!
don't think they did.
Thanks Bill, great review as usual!
Recently I've been wondering if "Sub 2" knobs on such octaver pedals (for instance on TC Electronic's Sub'n'up) are really worth it... What's your opinion/feedback about it, do you sometimes use this extra knob when available?
Man, I love your channel!
And this review is great, too!
I personally find the Sub 2 knob less useful, in particular since I frequently play a baritone guitar.
Thanks very much!
Chords Of Orion I understand... Thanks for the reply and your limitless dedication !
Sir Davos the Onion Knight is it really you?
:-)
So that's why I thought he seemed so familiar LOL
Would you/have you ever make a home studio tour video? Just curious. I think your set up is awesome and I'd just like to learn more about it. :)
I may in the future. Gotta get the basement cleaned up first! :-)
Would it work well with bass?
Good question! I've not tried it with a bass, so am not sure. I can say from using other octaver pedals, that I find sub octaves less useful than octave up.
It sounds amazing with bass. I'm going to get one, I mostly want the upper octave.
Yes. I have one and use it on my bass. It's incredible! I've also sometimes run it through the side chain loop, put only the high octave on and run a distortion, then blend with my original bass signal.
Did anyone try this on bass?
Jam Marasigan Yeah dude!
They're awesome, wouldn't trade mine for a POG2
For all of the bassists wondering, this works great with bass, I've been offered POG2's in trade for my mkii.
I wouldn't trade it for the world
Good to know it works well with bass!
Robbert Of Sweden thanks, I was wondering exactly that!
Does it work great on vocals?
It's a cool pedal but you lost some functionality from the original. No more double octaves. I don't know if I'd rather have those organ sounds or that lovely hypnotic swelling sound. Mainly I just want to mix out the dry and the upper and turn my guitar into a bass guitar for the loops. A lot of pedals can do that. I just need to figure out which one does it with the coolest features and for an affordable price.
Ah! The swell setting was made just for you, wasn't it?
Indeed!
Do you know if you can use the swell setting on it's own without having an octave up or down?
No, the swell only affects the octave up and down.
that was cool
is that swell like the boss slow gear effect?
Somewhat - but keep in mind that the attack is not adjustable, and the swell only works on the sub and upper octaves.
thanks
I wouldn't trade my sub'n'up for this pedal.
I don't think you should either.
Wow for $64 you can't beat it...
The price I see is $98, not $64. Where do you see it for $64?
on ebay ;-) a new one
Let's go back to 1967 !! 👍
Не знал, что в юности Санта Клаус так шпарил на гитаре ☺️ 👍
Ну, и педалька тоже ничего 😺
You'd be fun to smoke out with.
How about a beer instead? :-)
That's surprising. You give off a real smokehound vibe, no offense. Not even in your physical appearance, just in your vibe. I pegged you as a stay high type guy. Especially in the one tutorial where you started at the camera for a full minute before realizing you were on camera. I quit grass around 2010 personally.
i ll bring some Belgian beers,
Great review. Been really considering this little miracle for my bass music. Thanks for the clear and concise demo!
Can we get them to send me one? I’m sure to give a favorable review if they don’t expect me to send it back……..
NO guitar amp?
I use an amp modeler - an Avid Eleven Rack.
Thanks Orion! which octaver you prefer, mooer or tc?
the con is the latency
The intro sounds like the miku pedal
And then it broke after using it twice :( - turned out to be junk
Bummer! Sorry to hear that.
MONEY DID CHANGE HANDS

Great, so now I'm being fat shamed by a guitar pedal :(
Meh, good price though.
Awesome review. Ugliest guitar ever made.
Выбор дешёвого октавера очевиден.
Nice, I had a sub n up Octaver, sold it and got this pedal with half the $ from selling the sub n up, and I got ripped off as always when selling used gear. Just shows how affordable these are and I truly like it better than the sub n up. The eh pitchfork is still my fave tho
