    Love it! My husband won’t let me use a gutter can you please explain how you did it?

    This is so cool. I would like to do something similar with my pergola. Do you have any problems with air lock on the pump? Any problems with the pump not circulating when first turned on?

      No problems with air lock on the pump as I long as I remember to top off the water once in a while. When first turned on it takes about 5 seconds for the water to start flowing.

      AltoColle thank you for the lightning fast response as I would like to buy a pump today. Thanks again and very nice work

    Been experimenting with rain chain fountains for awhile. Love yours BTW. Some questions: Does the vertical piece need to be 4X4 or could it be smaller like 1X3? What's the best way to avoid splatter missing the basin, changing/slowing water flow (bigger or small holes or feeder tube) or just getting cups and chains with the right design? Or none of the above? Thanks!

      Hi Steve. Glad you like the fountain. The post is a 4x6 since I wanted the substantial look and strength. The cantilevered pieces are 2x6. 1x3 seems awfully small. I find the best way to reduce spatter is to reduce flow. That's why I have more water coming down the center chain. Also moving the outboard chains more inboard helps. But I still get some spatter.

    " I then got a cheapo remote controlled dongle that is typically used with Christmas lights. Got it at Lowes. That way we can turn the fountain on and off with a remote" Sorry, I don't understand how this works. How did you hook it up? Thanks! Awesome fountain, nice job!!

      "remote controlled dongle" is more accurately called a Outdoor Wireless Remote Controlled Electrical Plug. If you search for that on Amazon/Home Depot/Lowes you'll find some options. So I plugged that into the outdoor electrical outlet that I ran from the house and then plugged the pump and lights into the remote controlled plug. Hope that makes sense.

    Do you get algae or mold growth on the rocks?

    • @AltoColle
      @AltoColle  8 років тому +1

      +Andrew Limb In our area no. When the fountain is off the rocks dry off completely. I've also not had a problem with algae in the tub either. In part because the disk under the rocks is opaque so very little light penetrates below. I also toss in a tablespoon of bleach once in a while.

    What size holes did you go with for the spouts?

    • @AltoColle
      @AltoColle  2 роки тому

      Too big! And I had to make them smaller by wrapping electrical tape around the PVC pipe that runs across the top. Also I ended up leaving the center hole larger to reduce splashing from the outside chains. I would start small, then slowly go bigger (start with center hole) as you balance the output.
