yeah, neil is right, we have a major advantage because we know both! You have the baby boomers who are really good with analog but never got used to computers, and then you have millennial and later who knows computers but they break down when the computers do. Whereas Generation X can do both. I admit that a millennial who served in the military will lessen this advantage a bit, but ultimately generation X has the edge here 🙂

I was an early millennial, yeah, it was toxic as shit, wherever society goes in the future we're not going back to the 90s, gen-x'ers were mentally diseased and intoxicated off the remnant excess of boomers.
We're not going back to that, we're not justifying pointless decadence and mental illness for the sake of gen-x'ers. I should have been born a zoomer tbh, worst times of my life.
There's nothing virtuous or necessary about how fucked up gen-x'ers are in the future, their literal claim to virtue is literal abusive alcoholic father vibes that they think somehow make the world a better place when it didn't at all.
You can sum up gen-x with two words "woodstock '99".

To our Uncle Mac; the great Richard Dean Anderson, for teaching us how to MacGyver things we needed and need until they're invented, every Monday night. To the Beastie Boys for teaching us to fight for our right. To our bikes, what ever model they maybe, that took us everywhere. From the malls to the playgrounds. And so that we may keep our agreed upon time to meet the kids from the neighborhood a street over, just so we can reenact scenes from the Warriors. Then sticking around learning to do first aid to the kid you just beat down. or beat you down. And to the garden hose that quenched our thirst after a long day of just being a kid. Millennials includes people in their 40's now, who are so detached from the standard, stereotypes of millennials that they make up their own micro-generation, Xennials, which also includes young Gen x.

I remember a couple of years ago, my coworker buddy of mine, both of us backend Gen Xers born in the mid 70s (I'm 1975, he's 1976) had a little battle with our two middle of the pack Millennial bosses (both born in 1989 and 1991) that was brand new at being supervisors and managers. They said "no cell phones in the workplace!" They said they would impose the rule on themselves. We were like, OK, you want to play that game. We put our phones up. We both grew up without digital technology and mobile phones, we remember the 80s and 90s. We can go back to that life and live without it. But these guys in their late 20s/early 30s didn't know that life, they kinda knew the 90s, but by the early 2000s they were still kids and online and hooked up with cell phones,.....so it wasn't long before they had their mobile phone/digital technology withdrawal and we caught them going back to their phones. Their MBA's didn't help them with their digital technology withdrawal.

Calling someone born in the 80s a "millennial" doesn't make much sense because they were born so far away from the upcoming millennium. Now, 1995-2005 makes more sense. I feel extremely fortunate and extremely grateful to be born in '74. Im sure I speak for countless GenX here, we dont take any sh*t, we know what we're doing in life and we were forced to learn it early and quickly by way of our own hand. Stress and necessity made and drove us, it was sink or swim, we swam alone as kids and carry this through as adults. We are overlooked in the best way, we dont need or want support and we like it that way. We really looked up to our amazing grandparents who instilled classic old world values and a great sense of calm we may not have gotten from our parents. We readily disappeared to do our own thing at all ages and made it back for dinner and then headed out again until dark without our parents (or any other adult) fretting and calling the cops.
I was a latchkey kid, I often skipped taking the bus after school preferring instead to walk home alone through fields and forests picking berries and climbing wild apple trees. I learned to cook very early, I grew up adventuring in the deep woods and wandering coastlines. I relentlessly mangled myself on asphalt without a helmet, ate dirt, climbed massive trees, bled a lot...a lot and further toughened up through years of contact sports like lacrosse and rugby. Ive had a job since 14 and tackled everything from heavy labour to high tech to fine wood-working to complex art pieces etc. I was eager to move out into the world immediately after high-school to further develop myself. I know which end of a screwdriver to use, Im confident, artistic, resilient, analytical, resourceful, independent, inventive, polite, reserved and fully self aware. I can interact with anyone with utmost confidence and composure and with utmost respect and empathy (for those who deserve it).
Basically we developed the required life skills by our teens and well before the internet which has damn near ruined future Gens in so many ways that I honestly fear for our future. My wife is a Millennial, shes beyond amazing in every conceivable way, an honourary Gen X if there ever was one, IMO she's a far better version of myself. 😅 I'm of the opinion Millennials are the last capable Gen.
Maybe we're not the best but we know who we are and exactly what we need to do and how to do it. Proud to be a Gen X.

I was born millenial but raised similar to gen. X. I grew up with "sticks and stones", I was taught and grew to value HONEST truth, I was alone alot, I've an leave me alone attitude (of which, as I have grown older, has developed into an I don't give a fu k attitude), I didn't wear a helmet nor pads when riding my bike, when I scraped my knees I rinsed them off with the hose (of which I drank from many times as well), I was locked out of the house both by me and my mother several times, I had video games but wasn't allowed to play them all the time and not everyday, I wasn't allowed to watch t.v. all the time nor everyday either, I didn't have a cellphone until I was around 17 or 18 years old, didn't have full internet access until I was in, atleast, my early 20's, and the list goes on.
The only time I really remember hanging around my generation was when I was in high school... and could relate very little with them then. Now... I look at my generation and all I see are a bunch of bored, keyboard sissies who need a good beating.

Born with a computer in our hands?! Ummm..good sir, I don't think you're talking about the right generation. Millennials' years are from 1981-1996.
Google wasn't around until 1998, and even then it took a while before almost everyone had a cell phone.
And as a Millennial born at the start of 1990, I too experienced a childhood of going out til dark, playing with sticks & mud, drinking from the hose, & climbing on anything. Even fought back at a bully to the point where I had him running like a pansy.
So these ideas that Millennials are somehow so helpless that it'll take a few things to have us just crumble is getting, how should I put this, Really Fricken Old!! For crying out loud the youngest Millennials are 27 now.
Generational Wars about whose was better or the best, has gotten us nowhere.

Nah! That's not an exceptional IQ. Rather, it's having Google at their fingertips. Using technology required the non-tech ages to learn to adapt quickly. These millennial types never had to adapt. They were born within the tech age and lived in it since day one.
For example, people born in metro areas grew up in that concrete jungle and know how to wrangle such busyness. It's natural to them.
Country bumpkins, on the other hand, grew up in the woods or farmland areas with a traffic jam consisting of cows in the road and two oncoming tractors with wide farm equipment being trailered. Now, switch those people around in an instant. What do you have? 🤔
People going, "Um... people actually live this way?" 😮
Both types can learn the other ways of living eventually.
Millenials fall under the group of seeing these two different worlds on their devices, imagining they could easily swap between either existences without issue. They live in a space consisting of imagined capabilities without truly having any. They haven't needed to adapt to anything of substance. So... giving them credit where none exists is unfair and only adds to their entitlement shenanigans.
After all, test scores in academics have proven kids nowadays are worse off intellectually than kids of previous generations. They are behind in mathematics and writing. Have you noticed the blatant disregard of their public displays of utilizing the English language so piss poorly? Yep!
    So... there's that.

The amount of misinformation on the internet contradicts millennial's ability to "fact check" people. Are they facts? Do millenials know how to do true research with multiple proven sources? I doubt it.

Being Boomer X (born in 64) I remember all the crazy things we did as kids that would get parents locked up today.
Creating bike jump ramps out of scrap? Check
Using said ramp to jump over 10 kids lying on the street? Check
Using the same scrap to make a fort. Check
Experimenting with various "substances" in said fort as we got older. Check
Experimenting with sex in the same fort. Check
Honestly I feel sorry for most of the kids today. They can't even begin to know the joy we had living in the wilds.

Even the people born in 1960-1962 were like in their own generation. I know the kids today will call you guys Boomers, hell they call all of us born in the 70s and even people born in the 80s Boomers just to annoy us, but it's unfair lump someone born in 1964 that graduated high school in 1982 or 1983 as the same generation out protesting the Vietnam War in 1968.

And there was a phone in the house but it had a cord and was only one so it had to be shared so basically you weren’t going to use it and if u did it was hi it’s blah blah meet me here in 2 hours after my chores to hang out see u then bye. About 3-5 mins lol and there was a line behind you waiting for the phone like jail lol and then parents were like do your chores chores are done ok leave be back by dark if you broke a bone which I did you were called a baby and sent to school anyways and then your arm swelled up and then only then was it ok we are going to the er ….to find out my wrist was broken. When I sprained my ankle in school I hopped for a block and my ankle hurt so bad but I didn’t cry I just dragged my leg and kept telling myself just another block when I got to my house I was crawling and then I got to the stair and I passed out on the cement stairs from the pain I couldn’t go any further so I laid on my front porch and slept for quite awhile then I crawled into my house to the couch climbed onto it and waited for my mom to get home. Which you would think she would believe me after the broken wrist but oh no it was as if I was a cry baby but went to er to find yes it’s a sprain a bad sprain and had to have crutches for like 4 weeks and probably would have been less if I hadn’t of walked home on a sprained ankle I am lucky I didn’t break it on the way home I was told 😂🤣😂🤣 but I am considered a millennial lol and I kind of don’t know if someone has screwed with the dates of this but I related more towards gen x could be as I grew up around a lot of gen x as most of my cousins etc are gen x I was the baby lol of the grand kids sooo maybe that’s it I don’t know but I feel like these dates are screwed up 😂🤣😇
