@@aaronmiles8286 I bought a Plus, one for myself and one for my wife. Love the gun, it’s everything I love in the platform with good capacity. I shoot them both well and have good groups for my skill level with both. I found myself carrying the Plus most of the time through the summer and fall. It just conceals so easily with any dress. Now that it’s cooling off I have gone back to the CZ for one simple reason... the size of the trigger guard. It’s much larger on the P10S than the Plus. I wear gloves most every day and can handle the CZ easily with gloves where the trigger guard on the Shield is much smaller and, for me, I have a tough time fitting in a gloved finger without touching the trigger. That’s the only “flaw” with the Plus that affects me personally, handling with gloves. So I’ll likely carry the P10S until Spring, it conceals great in winter dress, and then go back to the Plus. @@Knocked_down_a_peg I think 365 is TOO small. Shield is very easy to shoot. I would compare the Shield Plus to P365 XL if I were you. Just my opinion!
@@josh48315 The nice thing about the P365 is that when you use the 12 round mag, the grip is essentially the same as the 365XL. You can also put the XL slide on it. Pretty flexible gun and I like mine, but if I had to buy today I'd probably go with the Shield+ because the wider grip just feels better.
I’ve been stalking the 2.0 for a while. When the plus came out I watched a lot of reviews then went to the gun store and did as side by side with several competitors. The plus felt better to hold s and point. Bought it, took it home as nd fired a few rounds. It’s a little snappy but not bad for a 20 oz gun. I like it a lot!!
I'm certain I would like shooting this better than my P365. But it's still larger and doesn't conceal quite as well as the P365. Finding the right combination between shootability and concealability is always the toughest thing to figure out. I know some say why not both, but for conceal carry I prefer consistency, because it may not always register in a split second which gun I have on.
Just picked one up today. My EDC has been a P365 for quite a while now. I stayed away from the Shield because I bought an original in .40 when I was on the job (also my carry round) and I hated it. I think I will be very happy with this new one. Thanks for the video!
Got the M&P 2.0 9mm compact with the stock trigger. No issues , it works and feels just fine, and doesn't effect accuracy. No need to upgrade the trigger. Work on your shooting instead of changing parts. The slide release and slide stop are perfect where they are. Don't see the issue with those either. Great gun overall. Love S&W. And compared to Glock, they have WAY better stock sights that are accurate, and made of steel not plastic.
I know a lot of people criticize the Shield for having a stiff slide release. But I’ve only had a problem with it when trying to drop the slide on an empty chamber with an empty magazine. Trying to drop the slide using the slide release when the follower is pushing up on it is extremely difficult. Ironically, when I shoot to slide lock, drop the empty mag, insert a fresh full mag, and then drop the slide using the slide release, I don’t have a problem. There’s no upward pressure from the follower. Go figure. It doesn’t seem to be a problem when running the gun with live ammo so I don’t think it’s a flaw. A lot of shooters would say you shouldn’t be dropping the slide on an empty chamber anyway. I hope this clears up the issue for you and I hope I described the process in a way that makes sense. If you run the gun with live ammo and reload from slide lock with fresh magazines, I don’t think the slide release is an issue.
Just ordered a Shield EZ THREE DAYS AGO! Well, let's see how it goes with that one... can always replace with this if circumstances warrant it. I love an 8+1 capacity, but would have loved even more!
I liked my m&p 9mm ez...but hated the palm safety and that it had no thumb safety....I traded in my ez for the new shield plus got $330 on the trade in
I Carry a Shield 2.0 AND a 9mm EZ. One thing I hate about the 2.0 was the extended Mag magwell plastic buffer thing that always seemed to shift a bit and prevent a clean drop of the mag out of the well and I would invariably end up having to pull it out (which, after grabbing my reload mag, would be problematic in training - and in a real fight, I would imagine). I'm really happy to see that it's one piece now as that was going to be a request of mine at the gun dealer; see how the extended mag dropped. Yes, the 10 round standard is cool, but for the EZ and the 2.0, I purchased three extra extended mags for each gun, and that's what I carry with me. Can't wait to get my hands on one; if it's that good, I'll get a second one for a back up. Just subscribed, great video, thanks!
I must tell you the mp 2.0 subcompact was out and sw couldn't keep them on shelves. I will not stop saying sw flipped the subcompact to the shield plus. The original shield i never found as something to rave about. Interested in yours and Mrs Hegshot comments on my statement. Thank you for sharing and be safe.
Maybe personal preference, I prefer the ceracoated frame. I bought this gun last week and like the overall consistent appearance that it now has, with the bonus of additional protection.
Everyone talks about the shield plus fitting existing holsters, but nobody says anything about the magazines! I carry my 1.0 shield on a sidecar holster, with a backup mag, I doubt I’ll be able to use it with the new mags.
Glock43 user. I never saw the original Shield but saw all the videos. I suggested the MP Shield Plus to a new CCW guy to try out. Later, we both went to the range and I got to try it out. I’m now conducting my own testing to see how much better I shoot the Shield. 😬
This is what I ended up with though mine is slightly different than either of the ones shown, it’s approved for my state, no safety. I’m getting used to carrying it somewhat, though I can’t say it’s easy to conceal imo. These days you have to carry sadly. Customer service at s&w obviously don’t love their jobs which makes me feel less disposed to their products.
The S&W Shield plus is the first handgun I've purchased that wasn't a Sig since the first Sig i bought back in the 90's, i actually went in to buy a 365. Smith & Wesson knocked this one out of the park!
Gun companies love me as I usually purchase the latest and greatest CCW at the time. Have a Sig 365 that I had the slide custom milled to accommodate a Holosun red dot. To each their own but having buyers remorse for the red dot on SD use. Great at the range and definitely more accurate, but in a SD situation that dot is not always in place when you draw. Maybe more practice would help. Believe I'm going to switch to the Plus with my favorite Amerglo Pro I-Dot sights as my new CCW. My first carry gun was the Shield 1.0, so the sights and holsters I already own will work. Thanks for the review.
I have had the original Shield for about five years and love it. I would have bought the Shield Plus when it came available in CA but, in my humble opinion Smith and Wesson shot themselves in both feet by not offering us in CA one optic ready! That drove most of faithful Smith and Wesson people to Sig and Springfield. I rest my case.
I think it was a smart move on their part to upgrade the well-liked shield. The biggest knock on all the single stack 9's from the last 6 years has been the low capacity. This is a great way to get back into the capacity wars without having to spend the money on R&D for a brand new platform. Now Walther needs to get their sh*t together and make a PPS/CCP with higher capacity, instead of that PDP. I'm afraid they are too late at this point though.
8:07 this is how a man fires right here. If you have any questions about muzzle flip or control ever just look at this section and ask “am I doing it like this?”
Seems like cerakoting the plastic frame is just an unnecessary waste of money and could have been omitted to save a few production dollars and time. Hopefully they'll drop that and lower the price, or have it as an option for Performance Center models.
KelTec P11 was the gun that "started it all" but got overshadowed by the Glock 26, although P11 sales did fairly decent despite their heavy trigger pull.
Love my original Shield, but carry a Glock 26 with 10 round mag. My 2 reloads are the glock 17 round mags. Maybe manufacturers should make their carry guns compatible with their high capacity mags like glock does. Models 17, 19, & 26 all take the 17 and 33 round mags. I hate the feel of glocks, but they work and have the capacity.
Still have the holster from the first one I got rid of for something else. Think I'm gonna have to have one of these to fill it again hopefully without worrying about the issues the other ones had when they came out. Didn't have a problem with the first one, it was just capacity. Definitely have to have one for the Wife😜! Thanks for the review.
I didn't want to have to change the trigger in the first shields to be my carry gun. Now that the shield is done with that hinged pos. Ill buy one or two now.
No hinged trigger! YEAH BUDDY! probably could live without the cerokote frame but that is not a functional complaint so it is what it is. 10 & 13 round capacity big improvement and was the only other complaint about the shield. It is finally a pistol that does not need out of the box upgrades to be appealing. Love M&P line of pistols hate the triggers and shield's limited capacity was arguable either way you went. I am glad S&W listened to its customer base and finally gave the consumer what they wanted straight out of the box now as long as they offer it already cut for optics it will give the other brands something to fear.
I think it’s a great gun. I have the 9&45 shields 2.0. I switch them out for EDC but now I may have to get the Plus. S&W is putting out some winners. Also love the EZ’s. As I get older if I lose my had dexterity I will go to the EZ’s. My daughters love those guns. Who knows maybe they will double stack those one day. Great shooters. Stay safe out there.
Liked your comments. But the range footage...zoom-in closer so we can actually see each round hit the targets. As it is we're looking at targets and your arms/gun move over and over..heh..Was this your own range or a public range? There are black target sheets I think with a day-glo base layer so that when shot you easily see where the round passed through. Forget the brand...you could use them in the future... The gun...Looks like THE "carry" gun to have. Betters the competition in every way. P365 coming in a close 2nd...the XL.
I own a lot of carry pistols and this is my favorite Even over the Xmacro The size, trigger and price Can’t beat it You can beat the crap out of it and keeps on going Great gun
I understand this gun They’ve sold something like 2million shields. So it’s an upgrade in capacity. But the performance center 🤦♂️. Optics ready only on the 4” . That 4” gun makes zero sense. Just carry a g19 size gun at that point. The 3.1” gun should have had optics and an available ported barrel from the start. Also why are you putting a fiber optic rear sight on a optics gun. “Yes let’s have a red dot with red fiber optic rear sight to distract you”.

I used to have the M&P Shield the first gen and loved carrying it. I traded it for a G26 ( I know I probably shouldn't have ) but I def wanna get my hands on one of the Shield Plus's and see how it goes. I have no doubt it is an awesome gun as being said.
I knew they would do it, been waiting for this since the 365 came out. Bought the 365, got caught up in the hype but never loved it, Ive always loved the 1.0 Shield, ordered the plus just now.
From where?
365 still smaller if anything having both makes sense
Picked up mine yesterday...shot 100 rounds today...FMJ and JHP...Ummm 365..hellcat ...43x....YALL HAVE A PROBLEM!...this is the best shooting of the lot...LOVE IT!!
Just bought one yesterday. Here in CA it comes with two 10 rd flush mags and a pinky extension for one mag in the box. Can't wait to get a few rounds in to see how it shoots. I always liked my s&w 5906 that my dad bought in the 90s but that weighs twice as much.
I appreciate the fact that your shooting footage isn't 10x louder than your commentary. I listen to these videos at work sometimes and it scares the hell out of me when some channels don't level out the volume
Don't watch our videos from a few years back then...it will scare the hell out of you. I'm glad it's coming through good for you though
@@Hegshot87 I've been supporting since those days. only so much you can do when you are starting a channel. we went on our concealed carry journey almost simultaneously. you guys were a bit ahead of me but I learned along with you. Keep it up!
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
I've wanted them to improve the trigger for years, I absolutely hate that 2 part trigger on my shield but love the firearm itself. Good job Smith and Wesson.
This one seems like it will trap dirt.
Just ordered based in part on your thorough & complete review. Thank you.
I just upgraded the sights and trigger on my Hellcat but I am going to check this out once it is in stock!
Good luck,,, can’t find pistols anywhere right now
I have both, the original shield and the new shield plus, the old shield slide worked on the shield plus frame and the shield plus slide worked on the old shield frame. At least on my 2 copys they do.
The response and views on this one are off the charts. Keep em coming and thank you for the support 🤘👊🇺🇸
Do you prefer the Shield plus or the P365?
@@Knocked_down_a_peg I think 365 is TOO small. Shield is very easy to shoot. I would compare the Shield Plus to P365 XL if I were you. Just my opinion!
Whats the weight
@@Knocked_down_a_peg Working on it bro. Stay tuned
I already love S&W. Now, higher concealed capacity?! 😍
Would love to see a head to head video of this and the new Ruger Max-9.
Same here... gonna be a close one folks!!
@@ryanbrown938 ruger max is ugly compared to the plus..
And we already know the shield is proven piece so why even bother.
@@sswcubes Just like S&W, Ruger is a well established company that has its fan base.... so.... why not??
@@ryanbrown938 when i come across two women in my path i usually go for the prettiest.
@@sswcubes I go for the smart ones
Smooth trigger up fast/easy by working it AFTER dry fire. Don't pull slide, just work trigger 2-300 times. Grit melts away.
M2.0 compact is a fkn fantastic gun, too. I love mine in 40S&W.
Just picked one up today. My EDC has been a P365 for quite a while now. I stayed away from the Shield because I bought an original in .40 when I was on the job (also my carry round) and I hated it. I think I will be very happy with this new one. Thanks for the video!
I’ve always hated S&W’s triggers. Love their pistols and now even more with the new trigger.
The new trigger means nothing here in MA....still will suk at 10 pounds
I couldn’t care less about the trigger pull, I’m just happy they ditched the hinge.
To bad the slide release still sucks .
No night sights either. Come on man.
@@mariosangermano5709 its demonstrated on video of the hinge trigger has a false reset and how difficult it is to use the slide release
I may become interested when they offer it in S&W .40.
The single con of the Shield is demonstrated perfectly at 6:31 😂
I know a lot of people criticize the Shield for having a stiff slide release.
Good video bro!
If Smith would put that new trigger on all of their models, they would sell so much more!
The shield is back, leading the way!
It's not leading the way; it's following Sig Sauer. That's a good thing though. More subcompacts like the P365 will encourage more innovation.
More like catching up to the competition.
It's about time.
Competition makes these companies innovate.
I’m still waiting on that Walthers PDP review! I’m thinking about picking that one up as my first gun
Cracked Crow just hope that you do not have to use Walther customer service
Love my 4.5” PDP!
@@allenc4909 anything you don’t like about it?
Front sight is a little tall compared to my previous PPQ. Still getting used to that.
PDP 4” with full size frame is fantastic new trigger and grip feel great and clip release works super. Recommend highly.
It's an amazing upgrade! Well done, S&W, well done!
I wonder if they will give the .45 M&P 2.0 an update, it would be very welcome!
That would be sweet. 9+1 45. in a flush mag and I'd be impressed
I need another semi auto pistol like I need another hole in my head but if they come out with a “Shield plus” in 45acp I’ll definitely get it! 👍🏻😏
Just bought the shield plus performance center with ported barrel and fiber optic sights and I got the same tulster holster greate set up
Had to add a pinky extension to my OG too.... It just feels rite
I got the NDZ for mine and really like it.
The S&W Shield plus is the first handgun I've purchased that wasn't a Sig since the first Sig i bought back in the 90's, i actually went in to buy a 365.
Smith & Wesson knocked this one out of the park!
I wish the slide release was functional.
And it came with night sights. Only two cons of the plus
But I do have a $800 plus P365XL awesome weapon.
I live in Tulsa I was able to get a tulster holster locally that set up
Love that 13 round magazine. Will get the PC edition though.
I like what I see with this.
@Hegshot87 Can you confirm, it looks like they polished under the trigger, took some material out so your finger sits better..
Nothing groundbreaking. A nice upgrade, but the 365 and hellcat are eating its lunch right now. Ruger has a new 9 with 10 and 12 round mags.
Single stack 9mm days are over! Glock 42 will always be my fav go to cc! So light and comfortable to cc. Easy to shoot. 7+1 is all i need.
Getting the mag to click in with the flush 10 rd mag is a bit of a challenge during speed drills. It needs a butt plate
8:07 this is how a man fires right here. If you have any questions about muzzle flip or control ever just look at this section and ask “am I doing it like this?”
I love S&W but the sig with the little Romeo dot sight a blind man could shoot good with it.
They are releasing a variation of this with an optic
And I was honestly thinking about getting an OG Shield....nevermind.
I've got the OG Shield, one of my favorites for sure.
Excellent. It has been coming. Surprised S&W didn't beat everyone else to the punch.
I'm going to have to check out the Shield Plus now.
I am under the impression that the gloss comes from the fact that the Cerakote the frames now! So a good thing!
I think the glossy look of the Shield Plus makes it look like it's actually part of the gun. What I mean by that it matches the tone of the slide.
Great video, yeah this looks like a great weapon. This gun sales for $379 at academy, sports and outdoors.
Just picked one up for 350 shipped brand new from abguns. Just started my 7 day wait today, can't wait to get it and get to practicing with it!
The Shield plus is an awesome firearm and has replaced the Glock 43x as my EDC.
I'm going to get one, I will probably trade in my G26 that I really don't care for, I have all of the Shield, so yeah I love the S&W Shield.
Really liking the look of this one
The plus is very interesting. I still love my shield 2.0 tho.
I have a shield 2.0 that I love. I tried the Hellcat and didn’t like it. Order the plus today.
I own a lot of carry pistols and this is my favorite
Even over the Xmacro
The size, trigger and price
Can’t beat it
You can beat the crap out of it and keeps on going
Great gun
I understand this gun They’ve sold something like 2million shields. So it’s an upgrade in capacity. But the performance center 🤦♂️. Optics ready only on the 4” . That 4” gun makes zero sense. Just carry a g19 size gun at that point. The 3.1” gun should have had optics and an available ported barrel from the start. Also why are you putting a fiber optic rear sight on a optics gun. “Yes let’s have a red dot with red fiber optic rear sight to distract you”.
Lol hopefully I can pick up a used one cheap
Is it just me, or is the magazine release further back and the trigger guard more undercut?
I'm not happy about the cerekoted frame, but im still looking forward to getting one.
Might have to grab one of these
Very excited about this. Nice work getting the review out before everybody else! Big fan of the channel
Just got mine today, it's a great and solid gun. Gonna get some rounds off at the range soon.
