I’m with you with same regards on the Shield and it was expressed similarly by Hickcock45 because it’s a thin single stack, feels like a thin board in the hand. The M&P Subcompact is thicker, (much like Glock 26 in hand) and that’s what I am going back to, either the 1.0 if a used one can be found or if not, the newer 2.0. There are a few guns we should have kept because we did our best shooting with them, even with stock factory trigger that came with M&P Subcompact 9mm.
The 4” is the best IMO. So slimline yet still boasting a full 4” barrel. Best of the Micro compacts certainly. I run the 40 S&W 4” 2.0 non Plus with a 4.25” extended and ported 357 Sig barrel and it’s so sweet. So much power out of an ultra slim concealable setup. With 125gr Underwood ammo I’m netting over 600 ft/lbs of energy. With a Magguts spring it’s only a 8+1 but I wouldn’t give it up for anything for this type of application. I like the rubber sleeve on the grip for a more comfortable grip and bonus recoil absorption. It’s ridiculously accurate. I have the optic ready Performance Center version. What an amazing setup.
I bought my shield plus as soon as they hit the market. It has been my carry gun for about 3 years now. My shield's trigger has a smooth take up (no grinding sound), light wall, crisp break- easily under 4 pounds. I was at range recently, a man had a brand new shield plus and talking about how awful the trigger was. The optic screws holding the cover plate on were stripped from the factory and the trigger was bad. Heavy, gritty, and the reset was so long. I don't know what happened to S&W in over the past few years, but I think they forgot how to make a good pistol. QC seems to be all over the place.
Actually, quite the opposite statements from most professionals on YT. They all show and praise how smooth the trigger is w/short reset. Regarded as probably the best trigger in a compact. 🤷♂️
@@kfett86 I have had zero issues with my Shield Plus. I carry it everyday in my security job. I have heard this criticism about S&W pistols for years, I carried a S&W firearm for 25 years as a deputy sheriff. Zero issues. My very life was depended on these firearms and they did not fail me.
I liked the trigger pull on the M&P 2.0 & almost purchased a compact version. But then the Shield was released & I wanted a easily concealed firearm. Its barrel & grip may be a little longer than other micro guns, but it’s so thin, that it’s super comfortable to carry. It’s very steady when shooting, with very little recoil. So you subjectively based your opinion of the out of the box Shield Plus on a ported Glock with an aftermarket trigger and mag release. Really? Compare it to a stock Glock with its spongy trigger and mag release that you can barely articulate out of the box. And porting thats a whole other story!
Perhaps I didn’t get my point across. It was only a comparison as to whether the shield would replace my Glock 48 as my daily carry. That’s what it was about. Would I like the shield enough to be my daily gun.
Comparing a Glock with an aftermarket trigger, texturing, sights, magazine, porting, etc. (at least $1000 in mods I'd guess) to an out of the box Shield is the definition of Apples to Oranges. At least compare it to one of the Performance Center Shields. Same with comparing a 9mm micro pistol to a 380 micro pistol.
The only reason for showing them together was to make a point that I already had something that worked well for me so this Shield will not be replacing my every daycarry. That was the point. Thank you for stopping by.

I get what you’re saying about comparing them, but for me the comparison was as follows. I have two handguns in front of me that I can carry, I’ll take him to the range, shoot them and see which one I like better. It was not meant to be an apples to apples comparison. By the way, I just purchased the performance center version. Review in the works.
My M&P 10mm won't feed with any mag or any of the 5 factory ammo types I've tried; despite having been back to the factory TWIICE. The magazine also falls out of the bottom while shooting. S&W Customer service refuses to exchange it. I never thought I'd live to see the day that Ketech makes more reliable guns than S&W.
That's not right and I'm surprised about what you say. I've only had 2 experiences with S&W customer service but both were resulted in outstanding service.
SHIELD PLUS is thinner, lighter, and has a MUCH BETTER trigger than the Glock. Also, the Glock has a bigger grip, which will show more while CC. To each his own.
Good comparison and reasons for your preference. I have both the G48 and the Shield Plus, but the Shield Plus can come with a manual safety. I added an extended manual safety to mine, so it's more 1911-like.
Kind of bummed to find out the barrels are NOT cold hammer forged. Instead, substandard materials and manufacturing. Poor quality when compared to other competitive options like Glock and Springfield armory . You work hard for your money. You should get quality

Wow! Take it to an armorer and get to the bottom of it and come back to save the internet. It has to be something simple.
He shouldn't have to take a S&W gun to an armorer to get it running right
That's not right and I'm surprised about what you say. I've only had 2 experiences with S&W customer service but both were resulted in outstanding service.
Support American made M&p all day babbyyy💪
SHIELD PLUS is thinner, lighter, and has a MUCH BETTER trigger than the Glock. Also, the Glock has a bigger grip, which will show more while CC. To each his own.
Good comparison and reasons for your preference. I have both the G48 and the Shield Plus, but the Shield Plus can come with a manual safety. I added an extended manual safety to mine, so it's more 1911-like.

Ergonomics are paramount.
Buy or Pass ?
Pass.
Thank you for your demonstration.
You are most welcome. Thank you for watching!
I believe your trigger group may not have been installed correctly
I had the glock 48, it is not as good as the shield plus.
The optic plate is too far forward and right in front of the stupid hole that no one uses to see if round is chambered.
Kind of bummed to find out the barrels are NOT cold hammer forged. Instead, substandard materials and manufacturing. Poor quality when compared to other competitive options like Glock and Springfield armory .
You work hard for your money. You should get quality
It’s not a slide release, it’s a slide stop
Lol I call it Slide Release, but I have heard other ways of calling it.
That takeup needs to be fixed, it should not sound like that or have hang up before the wall
I agree! Thank you for watching.
glock 19. end discussion

Another limp wristed glock boy.
