  • This video is about Guzzi's redemption. In one of my previous videos I listed a number of Guzzi's shortcomings. Since then, I have learned more about it--knowledge that has led me to forgive all its drawbacks.

    As the former owner of a suzuki tu250x, triumph street twin 900, royal enfield interceptor 650 and triumph trident 660 and as the current owner of a moto guzzi v7 III, personally, I find the moto guzzi v7 III is the best all-a-rounder out of that bunch.

      Thank you, swix76. I have actually considered the Street Twin, but for its price, I would have gone for the T100 or the T120. But you are right, the Guzzi is definite gem. Have you ever considered the Kawasaki Z900RS? It looks awesome.

    Love the vids! I bought a mark III v7 stone in 2018 right after I paid off all of my student loans as a gift to myself. I am a fellow New Yorker and have a similar story. I rode a 2013 TU250x (silver) five years prior to that. I miss that bike and I kick myself that I sold it. I had so many adventures on the TU, and even did some long distance road trips; all in all I put around 15k on that bike over the years. The Guzzi is better on the highways and at higher speeds for sure; and it's been a real blast to own over the years. In my mind it's the perfect bike for the Catskills. Last year during the height of the pandemic; it really kept my sanity; and the road conditions were legendary in the Catskills. Plan to keep the bike for a long long time.

    • @ReluctantBikerNYC

      Hey Maze One! Greetings fellow New Yorker. Thanks for sharing your experience with the TU. I think you were a lot more faithful to it than I was. 15K miles--that's quite a lot! They are truly fantastic bikes, which is why I am stupefied at Suzuki's decision to discontinue them. They're amazing. Guzzi is growing on me, and now I am thinking of adding one element to it that might just make me fall in love with it: a pair of aftermarket exhaust pipes! The stock ones are not bad, but I really like the sound of the Agostoni mufflers :), so right now I am saving for them. And I do want to return to Catskills soon. I just love the scenic routes there. Do you have the same Guzzi as I?

      @@ReluctantBikerNYC I have the same model; but in all black. When I bought it in 2018 it was the previous model year and they only had black and the military green. Really liking the yellow on yours; and truly impressed with the new paints that are coming out each year. Cheers too Rich getting the red one. After having the TU; and parking on the streets most of the year besides winter I decided the black was the way to go for NYC. Funny enough; I now keep it in a garage adjacent to my apartment. I haven't done much in the way of mods besides changing the break lever and the clutch lever; and adding a pair of nice givi bags that I found on sale.

      Suzuki tu250x is a fun bike. I would say the two flaws I noticed during my ownership is that the front end feel is vague in the corners and that it's scary to ride it on the highway. I loved the rawness of that engine, the looks and gas mileage.

    Well done, travelling to the beat of your own drum. What you're saying is.. the Guzzi is a perfectly imperfect bike, which means for your purposes, it's perfect!

      Good choice, your G sounds like a winner! So much is said about them, I'd like to test one even though I'm enjoying my Interceptor.. if the Guzzi is a thoroughbred perhaps the Interceptor is a quarterhorse. The TU is the one I run errands on and will often continue on up the local mountain much to the dismay of the Himalayan which claims that's his territory. The only time they get along is when I turn the lights out. lol 😄

    I am crazy, I bought the v7 850 Special with twin gages and I love it. I've put 1200mi on it in the first 6 weeks. I traded in my BMW R1200R that I rode for the last 14 years!

    My V7iii used to try break my back every ride it as for my 105kg 6'4 body the only unforgivable feature was its suspension it made cornering beyond exciting by trying to buck me off or just break me in half, it took a Matris front end and YSS rear springs to make it magnificent.

    • @ReluctantBikerNYC
      @ReluctantBikerNYC  2 роки тому +1

      Hi there! Yes, I totally agree with you: the suspension is unforgivably punishing, which is why I have been using a Airhawk cushion to make it bearable. I like how you dealt with it, but the mods must have cost you an arm and a leg. Would love to see some pictures.

    I test rode an iron 883, soft tail standard and soft tail slim. Those engines felt lazy compared to the snappy moto guzzi v7 III. Plus the guzzi handles better on twisty roads. Harleys are great if you like cruising on relatively straight roads and letting the torque do the work so you never really have to change gears.

    • @ReluctantBikerNYC
      @ReluctantBikerNYC  2 роки тому +1

      Hi there. Really? Wow, I have heard good things about the Iron 883, though I never considered having one. Now, the Low Rider S is a different story. Would love to test ride one! Thanks for your feedback.

    I'm in Jersey, I keep reading that North American owners have issues with extremely long wait times for parts. Can you share your experience? Thx

    • @ReluctantBikerNYC
      @ReluctantBikerNYC  2 роки тому +2

      Hi there! I honestly never had any major issues with the Guzzi requiring ordering parts, but I have heard similar things. I should point out, though, that at my Guzzi dealers, they never mentioned any issues with ordering parts for it because I did inquired with them a couple of times about some accessories that I wanted to add on to my Guzzi. Your best bet is to call all your Guzzi dealers and ask them about this matter.

    Why are you a reluctant biker? Did something or someone force you to be a biker?

    • @ReluctantBikerNYC
      @ReluctantBikerNYC  Рік тому +2

      Good question. Grew up being told bikes are dangerous, you will die, etc. That stuff, coupled with the way drivers drive in NYC, tends to make you a bit reluctant, no matter how much you love bikes. And I love them very much. You raise a very good point, though.

    • @ReluctantBikerNYC
      @ReluctantBikerNYC  2 роки тому +1

      Absolutely, Pasqualino. I'm especially impressed how smooth it is in the 3rd gear. In the 4th and 5th, of course, Guzzi just rolls on like a sailboat on the smooth, calm seas.
