    As soon as I saw Cubby get that arrow in his inner thigh I was saying in my head "Tourniquet, tourniquet, tourniquet". I was surprised that he didn't put one on and not strap it down tight but just be ready. Especially before pulling that arrow out. I really felt for him. You's got all the months of preparing to go and dreaming about it, but also all the money that has to be put into buying the gear you'll need. I'm planning to apply to Alone Australia next year, so yeah looking at the cost of things.

    The Alone podcast that they started this season is so rad because they interviewed Cubby and he was able to explain what happened. Such a scary moment! Love the season 11 folks they all seem so interesting!!

    Yo completely unrelated, no one makes a good wide eye titanium axe, would be pretty cool, because you could make the blade/cutting edge wider and longer, for the same weight + durability/corrosion resistance bonus

    WHY do they keep throwing away 1-3 weeks of staying power on a shelter of a type that also needs 2 weeks worth of calories and time to heat with a fire? it's all unnecessary if you know anything. Ditto the week that they waste on boiling a lousy 2 qts of water at a time, 3x per day. 30 days has been the difference between 4th place and the win is 30 days or less, on a normal season. if you dont do anything else but take the tarp, tape, and rope hammock, you can gain that 30 days of staying power. If you know to make a pontoon outrigger raft in a day and 200 sq ft of netting out of the (un-raveled) rope hammock, you'll gain at least another month, cause you'll be able to catch 400 lbs of fish, which is 120,000 calories, That's enough food for 30 days, being active out in the cold, dampness and wind, without losing any weight.

    Coming into the show "heavy" is a strategy. Do you see it as a detriment or advantageous?

    • @hobojordo

    What do you think about the amount contestants need to overcome that have n9 experience in the North ? Like Isaiah from NC . He obviously is so out of place. Like putting me in a hot desert. I'd tap sooner, than later Like being in a Northern spot.

    • @hobojordo

      I think with the right mindset and skill set adaptability can rise to the occasion of the unknown. But a place being completely unfamiliar does definitely make it more difficult… But I don’t think impossible.

    • @hobojordo
      @hobojordo  2 місяці тому +3

      Well, in lieu of hunting since fishing is one of the most productive ways of getting calories, I would definitely bring hooks. I think that could definitely be an issue no doubt. it’s also a great way to pass time when you’re bored productively

    • @hobojordo
      @hobojordo  2 місяці тому +7

      Yeah, that sucks. I just recorded this on a whim and thought I was forgetting somebody ha ha sorry, Isaiah. But yeah, that’s a pretty crazy feeling when you’re left alone and it’s only yourself to rely on for every future meal going forward.. and everything else for that matter. Definitely sounds like it could be an issue with him unless he is able to readjust his focus and recognize that the value of his time out there and opportunity at the $ worth the time away from his family. If life hasn’t forced him to spend time away from his family prior to this experience, that might be a lot to process. I had spent enough time overseas away from loved ones that I was able to put into perspective the few months I would be away and understand that the value I would gain from the win or just from the experience, you are sharing with the wider world is worthwhile in the long run. A few months is just a blink of the eye when you’re looking back on it.
