Thank you for this inpiring video:) Purple Valley, I would like to ask you to take a video about how should a beginners workout be for a while. For example when i practice backbends, when i practice forward folds, when i practice hip opening, shoulders, core ect. Thank you for sharings, namaste.
I don't understand "keep your bum soft" cue. Glute contraction is there to help support and protect the lower back in tight extension movements. You would contract if you were in a prone spine extension. Why not do it?
I am a bit confused. I was in Mysore this season and Sharath did 90% of my back bending with me and I definitely did 3 drop backs, 3 half backs and then grab ankles. He did not have me start with half backs. Also, I brought a student with me that was not going to Navasana and she definitely had to do urdvha dhanurasana.
His backbend is at a beginner level as this student lacks shoulder flexibility to have good form. Working on the advanced move of standing to a back end is the pathway to injury.
I think it’s irresponsible and dangerous for a teacher to put his full weight as was done here. What’s the point? As a teacher of 25 years I would never do this, even to an advanced student. I once attended a Kino workshop. She did the same thing. I left the workshop.
way to go, stu! thanks for the questions for home practioners.

Of course, "opening" is a euphemism for "pain" in Ashtanga 😂.
Depends on your teacher. My Ashtanga teachers teach no such thing as an opening.
Why is it so important to keep the bum soft? thank u :)
PoleFlow Berlin I think it allows to front of the hip to open.
