Thank you! I really enjoyed this talk and appreciate John's teaching style, sense of humor, and in depth knowledge. This is my favorite UA-cam channel.
This is so valuable!!! 6 years later and I’m watching this! Such a great teacher even from just the drawings and explanations of sukha! I learned soooo much from this thank you John Scott! It’s all in my notes 😊
I feel like he just told the exact story of how my vinyasa practice went. I do feel like I’ve come “full circle”, and now I am gearing up to be in Samadhi- of service to others. I was mind blown when i got to the end because I got a mental snapshot of my journey in yoga from the start until now almost 4 years.
Love, love love!!! That is a great yoga teaching!❤️
definitely one of the best teachers today...he is very creative :)
John comes back to Purple Valley in April, you can pen your questions here for him/Stu for the next series of films :)
I'm wondering if this state of consciousness that John is talking about where we step outside of our limitations, memories, emotions, assumptions, associations and projections is related to Ontology. Do we exist in an ontological context of mutual relevance?
Thank you for the great explanation of how the eight limbs interact! This provided me a clear way of connecting all that I have been reading and viewing for the past year. Lately I have been questioning what appeared to me to be an over-emphasis on asana in my ashtanga world, seemingly at the expense of the other limbs. This video helps to dispel that assumption. A lot.
Beautiful explanation. You guys are fun together. Thanks to you and John :)

Congratulations on the great interview with John Scott! I love his deep knowledge of Ashtanga Yoga. Yoga takes us on a beautiful journey to understand ourselves and interact with it on a deep level. The creation comes from inside. Thank you!

I love how this group of teachers all express their own freedom and individuality. It is liberation within a practise. The simplicity of concentrating here is so good. 😊

Brilliant, just one note for John... the Grinch’s heart grew three sizes that day 😁🙏
Would you please tell us the history and every thing from o to z thanks
Execellent video! Just opened up my mind and make me wonder so many things! its like in our human mind its all about getting more strong and flexible, and moving forward the asanas, but he just came back to the very basic and make me realize so many things i was doing wrong. but it a good way. im fascinating about all the world behind the postures and really trying to become a more spiritual person. You are both such inspiring! Thanks for sharing this! id like to ask about some bibliography on this subject.. Namaste

Just came across your channel, really informative videos. However, I'm quite surprised to see only one yoga teacher featured on your channel of South Asian descent. Is it really possible that in India there are almost no Indian yoga teachers? When I was living in india most of the teachers I came across were Indian so how come your channel has only one?
+Sundal Roy Hi Sundal, Purple Valley actually is a yoga retreat center based in Goa, India. About two years ago we just started filming the teachers who would visit so it could be a good resource for students worldwide.
Most Indian teachers are well established in the cities and do not really visit the retreat center with groups. However we plan (Nikhil & Stu) this season to maybe do a trip to Mysore and film some more teachers outside of the center. So we will have teachers from all over then.

I'm trying to understand the phililosophy from square 1 but I obviously need something else as a foundation, being new to Yoga altogether. Would you be so kind to point out the right information for me, please?

Meditation into movement.
concentration is not meditation....
his bit creepy
leg legs? birds legs? sausage dog? Are you sure these are the Guru's teachings mate?
Why are so many Ashtanga yoga instructors so narcissistic?
because we see things as we are ;)
Christopher Moffitt If your statement is even true then it is almost certainly their journey of awakening. To think you know with certainty is subjectively delusional and the majority of people are deluded. Yoga teachers are no different, even if they think they are.
Maybe the question is Why do you see them as narcissistic? Or even if some are, why it bothers you so?
I think if you are viewing someone in teaching mode, as John is here, then it may come over as narcissistic because that is part of good presentation - no-one wants to sit watching a boring presentation. But if you were to see the same person in relaxed mode you would see a more settled and balanced person, as John certainly is.
Wonderful, positive people. But it's just mind-made theory that won't really help anyone understand what this practice is about. Please, please, please, study more with other teachers and other traditions to make more sense.
This guy is completely bonkers, but still somewhat entertaining.
He pronounces INDIA properly but can't pronounce Ashtanga properly. Both A sound is the same
