Love this Hilux, loads of character and I bet he knows that car inside and out cos of all the things he's had to fix/replace over the time of owning it.
Mate there is a kid on the Gold coast who used to be in trouble with the law and now owns Gold Coast Patrols and is now a successful business man. He would be well worth interviewing. An inspiring story and his love of the Nissan patrol
I just wanna help this bloke tidy this up and turn it into something mint. But the fact it all works and cost him 2k to do almost everything is amazing.
I just did most tracks at LandCruiser mt park in my $2000 GQ, 2nd hand GU stock suspension with 50kms $50 Front bar $100 33s $500 I'm not sure if I could have had more fun
17L per hundred?!? For an ln106. That's crazy. Even mine fully loaded with firewood still gets 11L/hundred and mines not even turboed so the foot is always touching the floor lol.
I felt he just didn’t let the guy explain the rig as Sam took him through each stage he asked then rushed on, it was imo his worst video I have seen, the Hilux and the dude that built it were good, felt for him a bit, both videos seemed rushed and a bit arrogant from Sam. just how it felt for me. Maybe success is changing the built not bought attitude. 😕
@@maverick2242 that’s it aye, old mate was relatable to a lot of us with making things work, the fact he has a lightbar for looks is amazing! Half my car is stuff like that. But if someone doesn’t have the money to by Stedi lights or custom trays, they aren’t interesting. Which is the complete opposite in my opinion. This guy is the heart of ‘built not bought’
Sam you need to check out my mates mad 4Runner it’s runs a 2.8 at 22 psi I’ve never ever seen anything cruise through obstacles like this thing it’s insane all built of corset he bought parts but definitely built 94 percent of this absolute rig it’s something you have to see to believe we did big red on the creb and it crawled up up it no problems at all
Plugs leads and injectors and I just got 18/100 out of my tb42 EFI loaded for camping and a couple of ranges... Probably doesn't sound quite as nice as yours 😜
I must have had better luck than him, I only had one Hilux engine shit itself out of the three that I owned. Serviced every 5000 kays. Big end knock at 100 000 kilm.
I had a boosted 2.4 with a 2.8 12mm pump only got 250kms to a tank town driving if I was lucky, ran 35psi and only was only 1.9ton over the weigh bridge
Great vid, ripper car and honest guy but 17L/100 is fucked up, my carbie 4.3L V8 classic Range Rover does better then that and it one wheel peels all day long.
This is content. More everyday rigs like this for sure
"what fridge is that" "a giant" "never heard of it" "neither have i"
"yeah stereo caught fire. Everything is on fuses." .....that explains the fire. 😂🤣
100% don’t need all the best gear to get out there... your possessions don’t define who you are. Drive what you love. Love what you drive.
love how it flexes more then the back in black 79
If you take away the engine swaps he's spend well under all of us. And looks to be having the time of his life. What a legend
Only paid 3k for all the motors and have almost made it back from wrecking two of the hilux’s (1k each motor, got two hiluxs with motors for 1k each)
Can tell a rural Queenslander from any other Aussie, laid back easy going bloke! Quwweeeelanda!
Gotta have a beer with this bloke. Best episode yet!
This is one of the most inspiring rigs out there, like it shows you don't need 80 k and 30 years of experience to get the most out of a 4wd
Possibly the best rig run down yet!
Love this Hilux, loads of character and I bet he knows that car inside and out cos of all the things he's had to fix/replace over the time of owning it.
Hahahah this is the best rig review you have done
5k hilux thats being held together with tec screws and is still better then a 79
Legend fella, sam start a fundraiser and well give the luxy a birthday!
or at least 6 matching tires.
Mate there is a kid on the Gold coast who used to be in trouble with the law and now owns Gold Coast Patrols and is now a successful business man. He would be well worth interviewing. An inspiring story and his love of the Nissan patrol
who cares
I just wanna help this bloke tidy this up and turn it into something mint. But the fact it all works and cost him 2k to do almost everything is amazing.
Happy to take a high street kit then I’ll stop snapping steering arms in the worse of places 😂, gotta carry two it’s that bad
Have you heard when he was talking about how many cars he managed to flip ? No way he gets anything worth anything.
2004 hilux... what a legend what a rig good on ya mate hope to see more vids like these!!
Nothing bothers this bloke
Built not bought interviews the real built not bought

This is cooked but I love it
Yes a true built not bought need more of these rigs this is inspiring
awesome its on here and affordable . not everyone has alot of cash to spend.👍
Not agreeing with talking the bloke down all episode, this is what 4wd is.
We don't all have sponsors or a bunch of money.
What a weapon, fuck yeah!
Nice to see a realistic budget rig. I run a 1fz 80 series
I just did most tracks at LandCruiser mt park in my $2000 GQ,
2nd hand GU stock suspension with 50kms $50
Front bar $100
33s $500
I'm not sure if I could have had more fun
😂🤣😆 what a fucken legend, love blokes like this. Good old fashion down to earth Aussie bloke 👍🏽
Go the lux. Got one the same, a 1991 just about to turn over 200k. Can't beat a classic.
Thanks bloke.
17L per hundred?!? For an ln106. That's crazy. Even mine fully loaded with firewood still gets 11L/hundred and mines not even turboed so the foot is always touching the floor lol.
Mine gets about 12L/100 non turbo on 31s using it as a daily
I found sam to be very condescending. Funny thing though. This hilux runs and works.
I thought the same hmmm
Love the bloke but I would feel heavily judged with Sam checking out my car
I felt he just didn’t let the guy explain the rig as Sam took him through each stage he asked then rushed on, it was imo his worst video I have seen, the Hilux and the dude that built it were good, felt for him a bit, both videos seemed rushed and a bit arrogant from Sam. just how it felt for me. I really hope he gets cancelled from this

Almost maxed pump haha and 2.7t 😂
I had a boosted 2.4 with a 2.8 12mm pump only got 250kms to a tank town driving if I was lucky, ran 35psi and only was only 1.9ton over the weigh bridge
