Great video! While understand the clamoring and hype, I am not caught up by it. My daughter wants a red one, but I will only get it if at retail and with no drama. I love watches (I have 30-ish in my collection) but have no desire for a chronograph and don't own one.
Virtually nobody has any use for a chronograph, and quartz is cheating:) I have a Seagull 1963 and it is more than three times the watch any Swatch will ever be.
I have 22 watches with no mechanical chronographs. Does the chronograph function on my G-shocks count?

Unfortunately there are people out there who are going to believe they have a genuine speedmaster and won't take no for an answer. People who have no knowledge of watches and for whom all that matters is the name on the dial.
Great review Chris. Agree with your observations. I own an Omega Speedmaster Professional Moon Watch movement 3861 with the hesalite crystal, and wanted to add a MoonSwatch to my collection. Since I opted and purchased the Bulova Lunar Pilot Special Edition, and other than the fact that it is a big watch I'm absolutely happy with this piece. I will probably pass on the MoonSwatch at least for now. In closing, I like the collaboration, I think anything that gets people excited about watches is great, just wish the MoonSwatch was a little better built.

When I first saw it, I really wanted one, but now can't get one, no online sales, also no swatch shop in the Republic of Ireland, so no chance, I now wouldn't have one as a present, spent my money on a bulova hack, couldn't be happier, nice review by the way 👍
Under macro it looks like a $25 watch, not a $250 watch. I'm so glad these things were out of stock immediately. I would have bought one of these pieces of garbage if they'd been available.

Thanks for these videos Chris, you're shining a much-needed light on an over-hyped watch. Considering Swatch implies we may never see on-line sales of it with their latest statements it's no big loss if I never get to even see one in person, much less buy one. I also wonder if Seiko was involved with their development. Their trademark is of course misaligned bezels. 😁

Good review. Saw another review where the guy discovered that the watch box top would scratch the crystal when opening and closing the box if the watch and cushion weren’t pushed down enough in order for the top to not brush the crystal when opening and closing the box. I ended up buying a Bulova Lunar Pilot instead.
So *that* is how so many crystals are scratched out of the package. I was always perplexed about that. You'd think Swatch would put a sheet of protective peel-off plastic on the crystal like every other company does.
If you pull out the crown you can adjust the alignment with the Chrono pushers. But don't expect alignment to hold all around the dial. Also, look for a ghost position for adjustment.
Just bought mission to the moon yesterday. I am reporting months later the watch isn't $200 retail. In fact they raised the price at $275.
Chinese 🇨🇳counterfeiters have the MoonSwatch for sale-$148 usd and available 🤣!

Very clever design and marketing hype. But awful QC, misaligned hands, bezels and essentially a plastic case held on the wrist by a dreadful Velcro strap. A fun item at maybe £99 retail, but certainly not more. I feel sorry for those who queued up at a boutique or have bought it in haste online for hundreds of pounds or dollars. It won't last five minutes of use.
Is it designed to look like the Moon Watch??
Unfortunately Moonswatches will keep their price at 250€ just because they have Ω logo on them.
It's also good to change original strap. Best option I think is the Zulu Nato. It will definitely greatly improve the look of the watch and the original strap can be safely retained in the box.
My choise is the grey or the black Zulu strap with black PVD 5-rings.
It tells the time ...it looks good .. so much hate for it unnecessary
Damned. The only ones making a profit out of this toy watch are scalpers and UA-camrs. How many more reviews, hands-on, and first takes does the world need?
Originally thought it was a great idea, and genius way for Swatch Group to make a ton of money. Why on earth they didn't prepare for an online release, especially at the tail end of a pandemic, who knows.
If available I would have bought at least three or four versions, when I was hyped for it.
Now, real world feedback indicates it's probably not even worth the retail, other than a shelf display and it seems they may never see an online release.
I have zero motivation to fly across the country and hope a boutique has some random colorway in stock.
Best review I've seen, and confirms my decision to forget about this one.
I'm sure Bulova is happy. I just ordered the 50th Anniversary Lunar Pilot. I already have the regular version, but Bulova did a great job with the Limited Edition -- most importantly, it can actually be purchased.
Well it does have a $60 ETA movement. It is a speedmaster collaboration. The components can be interchanged through the front window. So hands, dial and case can be mixed. It's light and strong for what it is. There are some interesting things that could be accomplished with these watches. You could make an ultraman custom with red hands and black dial. It may be possible to install an acrylic crystal. And it would definitely be cool to just put a NATO strap on the watch. I don't have the interest to do those things but somebody will probably do it.

Everything is repeated at least twice and the vid could be half the length. Good review overall but future vids/script could really do with some editing
Realistically these things are only good for sticking in a display case.
They look nice, but you're 100% right, if you wear them they just won't last
So how long do you think they will last ? How how much do you think someone could get out of it?

Good video Chris , i have done 3 things to my M2M , 1) Nato Strap ... Grey and black striped ... looks good ... 2) Poly Watch , no more scratches , 3) Healing Shield ... curved fit 30mm size ... protect that plastic crystal . Also avoid storing it in the box, use something else...the crystal is too near the lid and the lid is abrasive .
Great campaign from Swatch, but it only looks good as it has the Moonwatch's design, though the built quality is purely a plasticky and cheap Swatch. If it wasn't for the Omega's name on the dial, nobody would have paid more than £50-80 on it.
Most buying it only for the reselling craze or just because it is popular, has Omega written on it and has loads of colors, so fashionable.
Did it come with a Happy Meal ?
Have a 1863 sandwich, lunar pilot 50th, i must say this is not an homage, it is an omega speedmaster made from cheap materials. Came pre-scratched ugh
In London, I've seen teenagers queuing at 7am for stores that open at 10am, and they only want to sell the watch, not own it.
I tried a couple of times, queued till opening once, then bought a Bulova Lunar Pilot.
I will try stores in Amsterdam and Miami when I travel, as I have collected (and worn) Swatches most my adult life.

You are better off getting a Bulova Lunar Pilot Special Edition Lunar Pilot Chronograph from the Archive Series for around $400 that will serve you. This Bulova watch is more superior in every way!

I mean its a swatch.. I would not expect anything more of it. I think it looks cool but i am not expecting a tank out of them. I mean.. they offer free "crystal" polishing for a reason... so you can come back 10 min after the purchase and get it buffed up :D Seriously though i think they are neat and probably will get one to bash a round, will an orient last longer.. yeah but.. I mean Its a fun watch that you are paying more for the look. its not a speedmaster. It is sorta like the prize i would expect at the bottom of a box of crackerjacks that supreme made and sold for 2 grand.

4:26 and 8:16 - really unacceptable. Admittedly, I really like the look of some of these (Mercury, Neptune, and to a lesser extent Pluto), but in no way can I justify spending a minimum of $260 on a watch made with these materials and with this QC. Shame.... Oh, and the Neptune leeches pigment and stains your wrist if you decide to actually wear the watch you purchased.

It might be slightly better quality than the Chinese copies but not €200 better quality. Everything above €100 is heavily overpriced. Personally I would not pay more than €75.- for an original one.

Its a nice watch. It tells time. For any other rugged activities, gshock is the way to go.

I honestly think 🤔 I lost interest in these unless they were available closer to the sales price.. it’s worth no more the sub 400 secondary for me.. at that price I would pick one up… otherwise not interested.. it’s a great idea 💡.. a great product.. overhyped is an understatement

Regardless what you say, get it for the right price, this is an investment watch. Even billionaire watch collectors are saying they have to have the entire collection. That is the bottom line! Still is branded with Omega, so that carries the weight. Believe me, this watch will never be widely available, no matter what swatch says...at least not for $260. It will be very difficult to maintain that price point without hurting the Omega brand. This watch will become a cult classic. Just look at all the hype and the long lines of people wanting to get their hands on one. Tell you what, you get one for $260, and I will buy every one from you, right now. been doing this a long time and I know what I am talking about.

Humm,, i guess they did not want to “Cannibalize” the real moon watch.
We all crave for this non water resistant, color staining, plastic " C O O L & F U N " (s)watch with misaligned hands, plastic "scratch magnet/crystal", eye pleasing textile strap and couple weeks of durability for only 300-3000 USD so much so please keep making at least 2 new reviews with clickbait title a week in order we can at least lick screens of our monitors. Now as you touch it with the caliper you can go, open your big bucket of the polishing paste and buff all new scratches you've just made to it.
I don’t quite understand why you can not call these watches a Toy . Like all toys using daily you will destroy it , you say yourself that these watches aren’t a daily wearable watch . so unless your a watch collector what’s the point of buying one of these if your not going to wear it ( daily ) like all things made now nothing lasts made to wear out and just replace with a new one.. This is how Woke we are all becoming..
Not woke at all. I don't call it a toy because some people Don't look at watches the way we do. To them they are disposable. People buy swatches to wear daily. I don't think any swatch will last a lifetime at all. That still doesn't make it a toy. It just makes it an inexpensive watch
@@WatchChris if one is a hard core watch enthusiast and collector, any watch they wear from their own collection will be treated carefully while wearing. If you want a truly to beat around watch and not care about it, either don't wear a watch, or get one for $5 and abuse it. I even treat my timex and Casio watches with respect when I wear. I hate damaging my watches.

I'm very happy with my cheap (100 dollars) Speedmaster homage from Pagani with good Seiko mecaquartz module .. nobody can't beat the chineses 😀😀😀

I'm going to tell it like it is, this collaboration was good for Swatch that's it. It was purely a marketing gimmick. The watch is garbage, junk, crap if you want an Omega and don't have the money then wait until you do. This is a plastic toy that's overpriced. At $260.00 retail you can buy a much, much better watch. This watch is a $20.00 Walmart special.
These are cheap watches I wish people would not be so critical of these cheap watches, if it were a Rolex I can 100% see being critical but it’s a swatch. Odd how some people have multiple of these while others can’t get one, sounds like some people forgot what they taught in second grade… learn the share not be a selfish or greedy person. I don’t care I wear Rolex but the people picking a paper these watches makes me want to buy one just to make positive videos on them and not over analyze every single thing about it.
