I remember WCNN being billed as “A return of the darker Freddy” and being significantly disappointed in my first theatrical viewing. I was 13 and perhaps it was a bit over my head at the time. I will never forget opening night and the theater bursting out laughing when Wes Craven says “The only way to stop it… is to make more movies” lol

I really like New Nightmare, my favourite in the series. It didn't really bother me that it's not really Freddy, I was more interested in the meta aspect of the movie. I loved Freddy's look in this, and, as I said, liked the meta aspect of it.

You mean, Baker Mayfield - circa 2021; still a clown? If there's a season, there will still be some destruction of that waste of a franchise. I guess we should watch out - Myles Garrett might try to rip off our helmet and our head and then co-opt it with some stupid a&& lie. Then again, why not? He just got $100M+ for it.

@Jake Stockton Let's be honest - Ben had NEVER lost to Cleveland at home - in fact, 17 straight wins against Cleveland at home. He was 23-2-1 against them. He owned Ohio. In fact, in many occasions after yet another loss to Ben in Pittsburgh, they would fire their coach. Btw, Baker is only pedestrian but had an amazing run game and an improved OL. Without those RBs Baker was not even pedestrian - he was MEH. Imagine if Ben had Chubb and Hunt - or even ONE of them. Come on. Even with the terrible start, Ben still threw for 501 yards and nearly came back. That defense needs help and it ain't Clowney that is going to help.

    • @jbjacobs9514
      @jbjacobs9514 3 роки тому

@Jake Stockton Yeah, the guy has more than 24 league records, first ballot HOF, and still threw for 33 TDs last year (would had more if his receivers weren't dropsie city and had a running game, his OL could move the ball 1 yard) and had a 12-3 record as a starter at age 38. Typical idiot Brownstain fan I am sure who has been a victim of Ben's for 17 years (heck Ohio has been owned by Ben). So you won one game? I will take a 45 year old Ben rather than that pos Baker bucktooth who only got a 5th year option because of the 2headed monster RB game. Imagine if Ben had those 2 RBs, they wouldn't have lost a game and certainly wouldn't have lost to Chad Henne. Geez Grow up.

Anyone find it weird that the big 3, all had films in their franchises that they are not in?
    Halloween 3 no Michael
Friday the 13th 5, no Jason
    New Nightmare, no Freddy

    • @Adachifan54
      @Adachifan54 9 років тому +12

Venom NBK well unlike halloween the characters were there but they were different people/things. Jason was a paramedic that wanted revenge for the death of his son but didnt want to be caught so he impersonated jason while kruger was just a demon that took the place as your scariest fear. Michael wasnt't even mentioned except the first movie was shown on TV in that movie so only Michael was one of the big 3 that was never in one of the films about him. Well he was the only one that was not mentioned in one of his films. the REAL Freddy and Jason were in all of their movies but were imposters

You know what would have been a better plot (of course, just in my opinion) is basically to have Robert Englund become obsessed with the Freddy character and he starts killing people while there asleep. Robert Englund's performance would have been awesome, but of course that's just my opinion.

  • @jbjacobs9514
    @jbjacobs9514 4 роки тому +1

Why so somber in this video, Doc? Are you okay? Did Ghoulash escape again? Okay, Wolfie, WTF was that laugh @3:53? I can't stop replaying it. And you have another classic line: "F^ck real deaths." You are the best Doc. I love your "V" reference. I loved Robert Englund as Willie in V. He was so sweet. He was also a kind mental patient in The Fifth Floor in 1980. I will say that New Nightmare is one of my fave Freddy installments outside of 1 and 3.

  • @DeepEye1994
    @DeepEye1994 9 років тому +4

I enjoy the movie for what it is, but I agree that it could've been so much more. Robert Englund could've been used more like you said, maybe for a scene where he shows up to distract real-life Freddy by dressing up like Freddy or something. And I think it would've been epic that instead of the Hansel and Gretel recreation, Dylan summons Rex to protect them and a T-Rex shows up to dismember and eat up the demon.

"Freddy's Dead" is the basic premise of the entire series if you think about it. He's a dead guy who haunts your dreams. So, therefore, he's already dead. So are Elvis and King Tut and Benjamin Franklin.

Nice review as usual. Is it just me or should the series have consisted of part 1 and then skipped to part 3 as the immediate sequel and then wrap it up with new nightmare. I think that would have been perfect. Please comment if you agree or disagree.

1, 3, and New Nightmare are more so the Nancy trilogy. Nancy is the more known final girl of the series but she isn’t the only one. Yeah Jesse, Lisa, Kristen, Alice, and Maggie will never top Nancy but they are all great in their own way. Even though imo Lisa is trying too hard to be the next Nancy as her way of killing Freddy had the same main character vibe as Nancy killing Freddy. But I guess Lisa is seen more so as the “real” final girl than Jesse who is possessed by Freddy

After all this time, it's finally back up! XD New Nightmare is in my Top 3 Freddy movies.
(I get that you have some problems with the movie, but this was meant to be the REAL life of Heather. Not everyone that comes on screen is gonna have closure, because that's not how things usual happen in real life. I love the more toned down feel, and then the epic ending with booming music.)

*THE BLOODY EXORCISM OF COFFIN JOE* (1974)
Playing himself, and having filmed the final scene of his most recent movie, Jose Mojica Marins gives an interview discussing his plans for his next film. After an interviewer asks Marins about the true existence of Coffin Joe, Marins replies “Coffin Joe does not exist”. A camera light then explodes. He states he will leave for vacation at the country home of his friend Alvaro to write the script for his next film, which he plans on calling “The Demon Exorcist”.
Soon odd things occur around the house and property such as winds blowing and horses being frightened, and that night Mr. Júlio frightens everyone when he begins tearing off his shirt and declaring in a frenzied voice that has come to collect a debt. Marins investigates the house that night and finds a locked hallway, but is attacked by flying books and the lights turn off. Betinha sees tarantulas and a snake in the Christmas tree. During these events the scene cuts to a strange woman who carries a white cat and is surrounded by occult figurines and symbols, and has a framed portrait of Coffin Joe behind her on the wall.
Marins wakens in a room with a black mass in progress. He sees the red-gowned hooded figures of Luciana, Mr. Julio and the witch, as well as Vilma and Eugenio side by side. The constant sounds of tortured screams fills the room. After the dancers raise their arms, some sparks fly and Coffin Joe appears. Marins is shocked to see his creation in flesh and blood, shouting rants and pronouncements typical of Coffin Joe, such as “may the blood of those who don't deserve to live burst out of their bodies!”, and “may lightning burn the scum!”.
Coffin Joe walks up a staircase of human bodies to witness the festivities, mainly topless women dancing exotically to the constant screams of torture and terror that fill the background. When the wedding starts, Coffin Joe places the rings on Carlos' and Vilma's fingers, announcing “may pain and blood spread among us!”. The scenes that follow are a series of vivid depictions of torture, mutilation, dismemberment, and live cannibalism. After forcing Marins from the room, the ceremony takes place, Marins hearing it from the next room. When Marins hears the screams of the youngest daughter Betinha being taken to the ceremony in order to be sacrificed, he returns with a crucifix he found fallen from the wall, and brandishes it saying “I believe in God!”, preventing Betinha's murder. He then uses the crucifix to quickly exorcise the family members of their influence from Coffin Joe.
Marins and Coffin Joe struggle. After Marins is knocked to the ground, a transparent image of Coffin Joe is seen leaving Marins' body. The witch and Eugenio both die as results of Marins' impromptu Christian pronouncements.
Marins wakes in his room clutching the crucifix. He goes to check on the family members and sees Mr. Julio setting the table for Christmas dinner, Vilma and Carlos in a loving embrace, and Betinha and Luciana opening presents. Marins silently takes his leave as they sing Christmas carols.
The film ends with a shot of Betinha's face with a serious expression. The camera zooms in to the reflection in her eye which shows Coffin Joe who is laughing amid the sounds of tortured screams.

The film has no opening titles to blur the illusion of whether it's a film, a documentary, or something else altogether.
This is the first movie in the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise that doesn't have any opening credits.
The events in this film revolve around Heather Langenkamp having a stalker. In real life, she did have a stalker, and Wes Craven got her permission to weave it into the story.
At one hour and fifty-two minutes, this is the longest film in the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise.
the only nightmare on elm street movie where none of it takes place in springwood.
The death of Heather's husband largely came about due to concerns that Freddy simply wasn't killing enough people in the screenplay.
Tracy Middendorf's death scene was shot in a rotating room.
    Body Count: Four
(At around one hour and forty minutes) In the final scene where Dylan stabs Freddy's tongue outside the oven, you can hear the famous Psycho (1960) shower scene music.
Tuesday Knight: (At around thirty-six minutes) can be briefly seen in Chase's funeral scene.
In A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), the movie that Nancy watches on television to try to stay awake is The Evil Dead (1981). In this film, the movie that plays on television is A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984).
In reality, Heather Langenkamp's real husband David LeRoy Anderson is a special effects man. As he is in the film.
In the ending credits, Freddy Krueger is credited as himself, even though Robert Englund reprises the role.
Before making this movie, Wes Craven watched all of the"A Nightmare on Elm Street" films. By the time he was finished, he claimed that he could not follow the storyline at all. He further regards the sequels to be weak compared to his original masterpiece.
The basic premise of the film, Freddy invading the real world and haunting the actors and crew responsible for the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" films, was originally intended to be used for A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987), but the idea was rejected by the studio at the time.
David LeRoy Anderson, who is Heather Langenkamp's real-life husband, declined to play himself.
Miko Hughes was a Freddy fan way before filming. He would watch them put the make-up on Robert Englund every day.
Robert Englund has said this is his favorite movie of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise

wow, you are quite the cut up.
I kept looking forward to the dinosaur totem being used in the end, hopefully with awesome dream powers, but it didn't pay off.
The coffin/confined space really creeped me out and I was disappointed they didn't dive into it deeper.
I kind of think of it like a kid's horror movie with a child's fears. A large man, falling off some play equipment, earthquakes, shadows in the sheets.
    "I'd collect him."

I liked what they did with the movie, Freddy more sinister than the other ‘nightmares’. There wasn’t really the need for a high kill count in this movie because Freddy was more focused and hell bent on trying to destroy Nancy’s life and those around her and not just killing for shits and giggles.

conceptually WCNN is as good a premise as nightmare 1 the idea that an ancient evil lives in a fictional character and hones the image of it once set free is awesome and it painted freddy how he was intended to be BRUTAL…WCNN IS LOWKEY CLASSIC!!!

The film has no opening titles to blur the illusion of whether it's a film, a documentary, or something else altogether.
In reality, Heather Langenkamp's real husband David LeRoy Anderson is a special effects man. As he is in the film.
In this film, Freddy is depicted much closer to what Wes Craven had originally intended for the character, much more menacing, much less comical, with an updated attire and appearance.
In the ending credits, Freddy Krueger is credited as himself, even though Robert Englund reprises the role.

People to an extent are inherently violent. We all don’t crave to kill someone but the majority of us are curious to see the victims bodies and watch the violence of both fictional and actual killers. Like any other art horror reflects this.

Humans tend to have a curiosity about 'taboo' subjects including, but not limited to, death.
There's a mortician on UA-cam that touches on that, as well as tastefully explores some death related topics.

FiNaL_1mPaCt 20,000 subs is a lot of people for a non-gaming channel that deals with old horror movie reviews, mostly. When I tell regular people I know how many subs I have, they're always impressed. It is a lot of fans, we're just used to hearing about all of these gaming/clickbait channels with hundreds of millions of subscribers.

In this film, Freddy is depicted much closer to what Wes Craven had originally intended for the character, much more menacing, much less comical, with an updated attire and appearance. However in 2015, before his death, he would admit he regretted changing his appearance and said: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Which was why he kept Ghostface's mask the same in every Scream movie.
The events in this film revolve around Heather Langenkamp having a stalker. In real life, she did have a stalker, and Wes Craven got her permission to weave it into the story.
The television show appearance was inspired by a real encounter. According to Wes Craven: "Robert Englund and I did an appearance together on public television in the San Francisco area. It was about whether this kind of movie was bad for children or not. There were parents in the audience and then kids. All the kids leaped to their feet and started chanting, 'Freddy! Freddy! Freddy!' I remember looking at the show host and the parents, and they all looked horrified."
In reality, Heather Langenkamp's real husband David LeRoy Anderson is a special effects man, as he is in the film.
The film has no opening titles to blur the illusion of whether it's a film, a documentary or something else altogether.
In the ending credits, Freddy Krueger is credited as himself, even though Robert Englund reprises the role.
The basic premise of the film, Freddy invading the real world and haunting the actors and crew responsible for the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" films, was originally intended to be used for A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987), inspired by the movie Return to Horror High (1987), but the idea was rejected by the studio at the time.
Before making this movie, Wes Craven watched all of the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" films. By the time he was finished, he claimed that he could not follow the storyline at all. He further regards the sequels to be weak compared to his original masterpiece.
Robert Englund has said this is his favorite movie of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise along with Freddy's makeup being his favorite look.
Wes Craven's daughter Jessica Craven appears as a nurse.
David LeRoy Anderson, who is Heather Langenkamp's real-life husband, declined to play himself.
Miko Hughes has kept the sewn up Rex dinosaur since filming. Wes Craven had an original copy without the scars.
The "bio-engineered" hand and glove that Freddy uses in this film (as opposed to the glove used in the prior films) is actually derived from the artwork of the theatrical poster and video box covers of A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984).
Heather Langenkamp and her real-life special effects artist husband David LeRoy Anderson had a son named Daniel (born 1991), serving as the basis for Heather's family in the film. Tragically, Daniel died in 2018 at the age of 26 as a result of a brain tumor, the same condition that had already taken director Wes Craven's life in 2015.
At three appearances, Heather Langenkamp has played the protagonist in the series more times than anyone else. However, none of her appearances have been consecutive.
At one hour and 52 minutes, this is the longest film in the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise.
This is the first and, as of 2022, only movie in the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise that doesn't have any opening credits.
At around 35 minutes) When Heather Langenkamp vomited in the morgue, she was spitting up a combination of clam chowder and bean soup.
The credits call Robert Englund's wife Patrice. In real life, his wife is Nancy Booth.
The scene where Freddy tries to swallow Dylan whole, is similar to the scene in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987), where the Freddy Snake tried to swallow Kristen whole.
After Heather makes the decision to play Nancy, the version of the house she enters has a blue door, like it did in the original. All the other sequels showed the house with a red door.
At around one hour and 40 minutes) In the final scene where Dylan stabs Freddy's tongue outside the oven, you can hear the famous Psycho (1960) shower scene music.
Freddy's death in this film is similar to his original death when he was burned alive by a group of vigilante parents.
This the only Nightmare on Elm Street movie where Freddy does not kill any teenagers. Every character killed in this movie is an adult.
    Body Count: Four
In A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), the movie that Glenn watches on television to try to stay awake is The Evil Dead (1981). In this film, the movie that plays on television is A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984).
