One thing not mentioned here: Resurrection was clearly inspired by a show on MTV called 'Fear', that ran for two seasons from 2000-2002. Contestants would be blindfolded and dropped into supposedly haunted places for two days, wearing a shoulder strap cam to film their own reactions as they are given instructions via walkie talkie and computer. By night, they would be challenged to dares of a paranormal origin, with each task getting more difficult. The locations would be outfitted with weird piped in sound effects and strange objects to be found. It was a big hit for the network, but they felt like the production cost (budget plus the $5000 prize money for those that successfully completed the stay) wasn't worth the hit ratings, I guess. So it was canceled after two seasons.
I remember that show. I used to watch every episode. I also did a ton of drugs in those days so that probably accounts for my poor taste in early 2000's television

I honestly think if the twist from H20 where Laurie actually killed a paramedic would have worked if there would have been footage showing the paramedic was trying to show Laurie he wasn’t Michael and she was so blinded by killing her brother for all the trauma he caused her that she just saw him as Michael. Then have the rest of her scenes be tacked into the end where she checks if it’s actually Michael and when he kills her, she is also able to kill him too, ending the franchise.

I was saved from seeing this movie in the theater because I didn't realize I wouldn't be able to get my little brother in. We saw Minority Report instead and were thankful for it when the reviews rolled out.
Can't believe I'm just now realizing Sara is the only female protagonist in the franchise to not have any connection to Michael or his family prior to him attacking her.
My interpretation of Michael in this movie is, now free of the Thorn Curse after H6, and free of his arch nemesis after the prologue, he wants to put the knife down, but he can't: his rest was disturbed by Busta and crew, and now he knows there will be no rest for the wicked.
a weird thing i noticed in the review here When Jamie Lee Curtis falls i swear i've always seen her just fall into a black abyss (she gets obscured by the trees) but here she hits the ground weird, or maybe it was how the movie was edited when i've seen it on tv or something
Another excellent revisit, Doc! Love your in depth approach with these. AAHctober is shaping up beautifully. I'll never truly like this movie because of the opening but I'm so glad you defended Busta here. He was very charismatic and played a greedy, fame hungry producer well, especially considering what he had to work with.
I've just realised Rob Zombie probably took his "remake Michael had a bad childhood" idea from Freddie in this filling the Myers house with fake "evidence" that Michael was abused.
It may be nostalgia and seeing it in theaters when I was 11 but I enjoy this movie. I get that it has plenty of problems, but it’s still a fun watch for me
Finally someone else who agrees busta is the best part of this movie Not the opposite way around like most claim He made this movie entertaining asf lol U rule Doc!
Was first named "Halloween: The Homecoming", but producers wanted a title that said Michael Myers is alive so in February 2002, the film was officially named Halloween: Resurrection (2002). Jamie Lee Curtis was quoted as saying she considered this film a joke. John Carpenter has stated that the movie made him cringe. While in the asylum, Laurie Strode has a Raggedy Ann doll. In the original movie, she had a similar Raggedy Ann doll on the dresser in her bedroom. Jamie Lee Curtis appears on the movie cover with short hair, despite having long hair in the film. If looked at more closely, one can easily tell that it's the same picture of her that was used for the poster of the previous film, Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998). In 2015 when being interviewed by Toofab, Jamie Lee Curtis has said that this film was a complete joke, and that the only reason why she did the film was because she signed a contract when doing Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998), because that was the only way she could have Halloween H20 made. Stuntman Brad Loree, a lifelong horror enthusiast and fan of the 'Halloween' films, plays Michael Myers in this installment. Loree stated that, had the series not been rebooted after 'Resurrection', he would have liked to reprise the role of Myers, as he enjoyed the role. Bianca Kajlich cannot scream and her screams had to be dubbed in post production. Jamie Lee Curtis has played Laurie Strode in films released in six different decades from the 1970s to the 2020s: Halloween (1978), Halloween II (1981), Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998), Halloween: Resurrection (2002), Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills(2021) and Halloween Ends (2022). The only one movie to establish Michael Myers' birth date: October 19, 1957. Jamie Lee Curtis was contractually obligated to be in a sequel, supposedly for a 30-second cameo, but reportedly was so interested in the story that she agreed to do a full four-day shoot and appeared in the entire opening sequence. However she has discounted this and only did it because she didn't want her character to be in any more films. She saw this film as a joke. This film is the first one in which Michael kills a victim by decapitation. Freddie Harris' surname is an homage to Danielle Harris, who played Michael Myers' niece, Jamie Lloyd, in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989). (at around 17 mins) In the first scene at the college, Sara Moyer (Bianca Kajlich) is shown twirling her hair, much like Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) does in the class room scene in the original Halloween. Sara says that Michael's knife would be in an evidence room locker, in the beginning of Bride of Chucky (1998), Michael's mask is shown in an evidence room locker. Michael's use of a spiked leg of a tripod as a weapon is an homage to Michael Powell's Peeping Tom (1960). (At around 8 mins) The security camera footage showing Michael walking down a corridor is similar to Halloween II (1981) when the security footage shows Michael walking down a hospital hallway both movies were directed by Rick Rosenthal. Michael's knife is a, 12" Victorinox Forschner with Rosewood Handle. The name Jen Danzig is a reference to Glenn Danzig, the former singer and leader of The Misfits, who wrote and sung the songs Halloween and Halloween II after the original movie was released. The two songs have nothing to do with the movies, because their lyrics do not even touch the main plot. When Laurie is killed by Michael and falls through the trees, you can hear the same "landing on the floor" sound effect from when Michael falls out of the window at the end of the original Halloween. Ryan Merriman (Myles) and Billy Kay (Scott) were both born on April 10th. The film's poster, has Laurie reflected on the bottom of the knife, which is also bloodied at the tip. Laurie Strode is only in the film for the first 15 minutes and only says 11 lines of dialogue. Despite this, Jamie Lee Curtis still gets top billing as part of the cast. at around 16 mins) At the beginning of the movie Harold begins to recount the victims of the first two films and he says three teenagers were killed, along with three nurses and a paramedic. This is completely wrong. Four teenagers were killed (Annie, Bob, Linda and Alice (the girl talking on the phone at the beginning of the second movie) and four nurses, a paramedic, a security guard, a doctor, and a marshal, as well as the truck driver who was found by Dr. Loomis, which is where Michael got his jumpsuit. Nora Winston's (Tyra Banks's) death scene was originally onscreen. Publicity stills and behind-the-scenes photos proved that her death scene was filmed. It involved Michael stringing her up with electrical wire and him repeatedly stabbing her in the abdomen as she struggled (which explains the pool of blood Sara slips on in the garage). The scene was later cut, as a suggestion by Brad Loree, the stuntman who played Michael, as he stated "Every horror movie has to have a character find the body of someone you didn't know was dead." Body count: 10. (Plus one character presumed dead, but it's unconfirmed. If you count the bodies from the flashbacks then the body count is 14.) Second Halloween movie to have Michael get burned in a fire at the end, first was Halloween II (1981), both were directed by Rick Rosenthal. (at around 1h 17 mins) Tyra Banks' character's death was cut. You can still see the aftermath in the movie. Michael switching outfits with the paramedic (how he survived the previous film) is similar to the producers' cut ending to Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995), where Michael switches outfits with Dr. Wynn.
From what I heard in an H20 doc, killing Laurie in the sequel was JLC's stipulation if she was going to return for H20. Can't which remember which filmmaker said that, but I haven't heard JLC confirm it.
I actually kinda love this one. I love Busta Rhymes and Tyra Banks and the stupid reality tv gimmick. There's this creepy relationship between a teenage boy and the adult woman he's catfishing AND ITS JUST NEVER ADDRESSED, move ends with the boy saving her life and she still doesn't know he's a teenager!? I love the corny "trick or treat mf" and the part where Busta is dressed as Michael and he's like "No I'm Michael you go over there" and Michael just is like well ok 🤷♂️
Crazy how this month marks the 20 year anniversary of Resurrection. A milestone like that will usually evoke some kind of nostalgia, but the movie sucked back then and has aged like a glass of milk. I still remember going to see it as a fifteen year-old and it was actually my very first R-rated horror movie experience in theaters. That was the only real thrill looking back. Even at that age, I knew the movie totally sucked. The way they dismissed the amazing ending of H20 was a slap in the face as was the way they disposed of Jamie Lee Curtis within the first ten minutes. The whole MTV Fear broadcast style got old really quick as well. It was just disappointing all-around. What a shit movie.

Now in 2018 Laurie has no relationship with mike
My interpretation of Michael in this movie is, now free of the Thorn Curse after H6, and free of his arch nemesis after the prologue, he wants to put the knife down, but he can't: his rest was disturbed by Busta and crew, and now he knows there will be no rest for the wicked.
a weird thing i noticed in the review here
When Jamie Lee Curtis falls i swear i've always seen her just fall into a black abyss (she gets obscured by the trees) but here she hits the ground
weird, or maybe it was how the movie was edited when i've seen it on tv or something
I always thought the same thing. It wasn't until this review that I saw her hit the ground.
Mr. Doctor, I always love your work, but this is really one of your best videos and is going amongst the classics of the channel.
Buster rhymes is still an amazing rapper
they shouldve let him write this movie too.
Dude, I look forward to your videos so much. Thanks again for all the hard work you put in! ✌️
Another excellent revisit, Doc! Love your in depth approach with these. AAHctober is shaping up beautifully. I'm guessing the same can't be said for Ghoulash, who has certainly been working his fingers to the bone fulfilling his master's demands. Between all the Halloween and Treehouse of Horror videos you're spoiling us!
I think busta rhymes was extremely underrated
First time I have managed to catch a live viewing and it was a lot of fun
They should’ve just titled this movie “Busta vs. Michael”
or a horny film cause every line is said sexually or has double entendre meanings or just is sexism/sexual in meaning...its insane
that reason many like Halloween II, it's a well shot, Directed film, a great sequel. better than Blumhouse's ''sequels''
24:21 Best line in Cinema history!
Busta busts down the door to save the day!!
I've never disliked Busta Rhymes in this film. Sure I poke fun at how he himself beat Michael Myers but he's legitimately the best thing in the film.
I'll never truly like this movie because of the opening but I'm so glad you defended Busta here. He was very charismatic and played a greedy, fame hungry producer well, especially considering what he had to work with.
10:28 dude is lowkey a legend for being in a Jason, Freddy AND Michael movie
Isn't there another ending where Michael gets an axe in his face?
I used to think Halloween Resurrection was a tragedy now I realize it's a comedy
Even though doc makes the same joke all the time about the movie not being over it never gets old
Pay to see films they sneak in like me mofo bro
"OJ'ing Freddy" hahahahha I literally loled
At least we know they wouldn't put Michael Myers in a sewer for an extended period of time again...
Busta Rhymes is amazing in this movie.
Thank you for giving him his due.
Doc, keep em comin. You just keep improving. I love to see it
they need to get back Busta Rhymes for Halloween Ends!
@DarkMonke so what? I bet he could still kick Mike out the window
Richard Nixon saving the night would’ve been better than what we got.
not only the hero we deserve, but the one we need
I appreciate that you point out Busta Rhymes' contributions to the movie, you won me over on that.
This quality of this review actually justifies the existence of Halloween Resurrection.
I've just realised Rob Zombie probably took his "remake Michael had a bad childhood" idea from Freddie in this filling the Myers house with fake "evidence" that Michael was abused.
I also believe that guy played in Cruel Intentions.
I have been waiting for you to get around to this one and you did not disappoint!
Ya know..it's actually fun to see this right after watching the original review. You've come into your own very well Doc 😬👍
Interesting fact the guard that dies in the beginning is kenny the cameraman from scream.
It may be nostalgia and seeing it in theaters when I was 11 but I enjoy this movie. I get that it has plenty of problems, but it’s still a fun watch for me
Finally someone else who agrees busta is the best part of this movie
Not the opposite way around like most claim
He made this movie entertaining asf lol
U rule Doc!
The scene was later cut, as a suggestion by Brad Loree, the stuntman who played Michael, as he stated "Every horror movie has to have a character find the body of someone you didn't know was dead."
Body count: 10. (Plus one character presumed dead, but it's unconfirmed. If you count the bodies from the flashbacks then the body count is 14.)
Second Halloween movie to have Michael get burned in a fire at the end, first was Halloween II (1981), both were directed by Rick Rosenthal.
Wynn.
Halloween 8: Save the Last Dance for Michael...
This is my favorite review of yours soley for "Wait... Tyra Banks is in this movie?" Everytime you bring her up 😂
From what I heard in an H20 doc, killing Laurie in the sequel was JLC's stipulation if she was going to return for H20. Can't which remember which filmmaker said that, but I haven't heard JLC confirm it.
My big question I have with this movie is why did came out in july?
And people complain they never got Freddy vs Michael.
It doesn’t get any better than this …
Great video !! Super funny!
Thank you so much for creating this content. It makes my weeks
Am I crazy, or didn't they try to give Sarah some weird 'Carrie' type of telekinetic power during the Danger-tainment auditions?
I actually kinda love this one. I love Busta Rhymes and Tyra Banks and the stupid reality tv gimmick. There's this creepy relationship between a teenage boy and the adult woman he's catfishing AND ITS JUST NEVER ADDRESSED, move ends with the boy saving her life and she still doesn't know he's a teenager!? I love the corny "trick or treat mf" and the part where Busta is dressed as Michael and he's like "No I'm Michael you go over there" and Michael just is like well ok 🤷♂️
most epic rant, summary, review, coherent description of a bygone cancer of a Halloween movie. You resurrect it more than it could ever do for itself
