  • This is a quick pond update. How much have the crappie grown since they were stocked. These are the crappie I stocked in there back in April of 2021. This was recorded on September 30, 2023. So, 29 months of growth in the pond.

Yeah, those must be New Crappie. Which is a good thing.
That means that they are Spawing and Surviving. Soon that Pond should be packed with Crappie as the years go by. 😊

Enjoy your videos! You don't want to let that pond get overpopulated with crappie.

Thanks. I suppose I should start keeping some now. I wasn't sure if they would spawn in a pond or not.

Why not ? Serious question. I know they compete with bass on food but any other reasons ?

Taking a super ultra light rod and a 4lb spooled tiny reel with a pocket full of tiny plastic jigs and I’m In panfish heaven!

check for weight and size for sure. Just need to make sure they are maintaining a healthy weight because they can be long but just super thin. but looks like there's decent forage and they look healthy for sure!

Like your dock/boat can you tell me how you built that?

@deananderson8225 Yes, I have an older video here with the whole build on it. You may have to scroll back a ways. It was a few summers ago.

I see the gulp minnows at Walmart but never tried them before. I look at them all the time and never tried it.

Crappie in ponds ive found will do well as long as you take some out. My biggest pond crappie 3 lbs. It had small crappie in its stomach. I didn't realize that till then. It must have been they had no other option.

Faster than you can catch them.

Fishing is always 50/50. I went fishing yesterday and caught nothing. Got bites, but no fish.

Not overly high. It looks to be around a 20 foot drop off the back. Max depth on the front side is around 14 feet deep when the water level is maxed out to the culvert

Here you are. Sitting on a gold mine. 🤦🏼‍♂️. Definitely has to be first spawn of the ones you originally stocked.

That pond is probably overstocked if nobody fish and take them out. I have 6 acre pond its way overstocked and they don't grow much.
