I carry a fixed blade in the front pocket almost exclusively. I don’t let it sit in the bottom of my pocket though, I use a clip on the front of the sheath so the sheath sits inside and the handle sticks out. Shirt/jacket covers it if desired. Some of my favorites to carry this way are the ESEE Izula and Izula 2, the CRKT Persian with the Flytanium scales, Kizer Maverick mini. The Izula 2 in an Armatus sheath with the IWB clip - pretty perfect pocket edc.
@@TheSwitzAutomotive sounds interesting. I've been working in the auto industry for about 10 years now. Have a few theories about that myself but I'm interested to see your take on it. I'll definitely check it out.
With a heat gun, it's easy to alter the sheath by making a small ramp on the edc ghost to do an effortless draw with your thumb like the other one. I do think the tan/white knife is a fine product, but there are better ones for the price. Another 5-10 bucks, you can get an artisan sea snake. For less, you can get a cold steel hideout. Both offer features that make them easy choices. Nothing against Greg, I think he's a very skilled designer and custom maker, not to mention a wealth of knowledge you likely won't find anywhere else, but maybe more than anything, he's a very smart business man. Good stuff (especially the Cank!), but I caution anyone to do their research when faced with claims of a product being the only and best option out there period. P.s.Michael Janich is my hero.
Thanks Matt. Have you seen my video on how to really defend yourself with a knife? I agree about Michael Janich, in that he's all about disabling cuts that stop your attacker (instead of stabs that try to kill). I like the Sea Snake but it's not double edged (so it takes longer to deploy). The Hide Out is odd looking in that the handle looks super thin (it may be a great blade however). The CANK by Greg Tambone is way too expensive for me. I'm not saying it's not worth it as a heirloom quality blade... I just don't want to spend $350 on a knife (and possibly lose it). I like to carry equipment and tools that if I lose it or break it I'm not crying about it. Thanks for your insights Matt. And thanks for watching!
Thanks Boom! I think small fixed bladed knives are a great way to protect yourself. No one wants to get slashed... even the most hardened criminals. Also, check out my Part 2 on this series as I discuss Karambit pocket carry.
All the knives will pocket carry if you use a lanyard just long enough to fit into your pocket. The sheath will unsheath itself as you pull the knife out. I had no problem with a RAT 3 in pocket carry. I don't EDC it just tried it out and it worked.
I pocket carry a kabab tai with a sheath made by Matthew Fabrications. I release it from the sheath using the thumb ramp while the knife is still in my pocket. I used to carry it on my belt, but even though I am pretty thin and have no gut I found that the handle would dig into to my torso while sitting down.
The EDC Relentless is a bit limited when it comes to utility given its double edged spear point design. Great for defensive use, however, and extremely fast to access and deploy... about 1 second. I sometimes carry a spyderco delica or similar blade for utility clipped to my hip. Thanks for watching!
Using a thin, strong, difficult to see, nylon type cord attached to one of the holes in the bottom of the sheath. And have that cord looped around your belt. Should you need to pull the knife and sheath out of your pocket. You won't have to worry about bringing the knife out of the sheath by adding pressure to release the knife. The cord will stop the sheath and the knife will release from the sheath. As a plus, you will still have the sheath attached to you. And you won't have to go searching for the sheath on your hands and knees, especially if it's dark. You could also pass the cord through the bottom of your pocket with something used as a keeper to hold the sheath in the pocket when you draw the knife out. I don't like pocket clips for a number of reasons and do not use them. Do this right and whatever cordage you use. Even if it's Paracord, it won't get tangled with your sheath.
Yes, this works as well. The only thing is it's super easy to flick off the sheath on the knives I carry. Also, and this is important to me, I could foresee the scenario where a threat approaches me but doesn't have a weapon. In that instance I may want to pull out the knife but not yet flick off the sheath. I do like your idea, however, and that you for your feedback!
To me it doesn't matter if Greg has exaggerated the number of fights and other incidents he's been in... his advice is pretty sound. When it comes to self defense, I listen to a lot of guys, from Michael Janich to Greg to John Corria of Active Self Protection. Also, Greg's equipment is very good quality and will generally last a lifetime. Is it over priced? Yep. But my response is ... "just buy the cheaper stuff, like EDC Relentless, EDC Ghost, and bone breaker micro." Combined with pepper sprays from Fox Labs (or other excellent sprays like Sabre Red) and you'll be ready to defend yourself and your loved ones if you're on high alert when in public. Anyway, those are my thoughts about Greg, in the context of self defense. Thanks for watching!
Glen, I live in Texas, where they are all legal to carry. Also, you'd be surprised, as a lot of states are loosening the laws of what constitutes an illegal knife. But I agree with the thrust of your point... know your state and local laws... if I still lived in CA I would carry a big folder. There's no limit on the size. Thanks for watching!
So WHY are you carrying ceramics? Why do you need a knife at a game? You sound like you spend too much time watching movies or youtube. Pulling a knife on someone at a game if you get into an altercation is insane. You shouldn't be allowed knives.
I've had situations where I've been walking to my car after meeting a friend at a game and had shady characters eying me... a lot of sports stadiums are in bad parts of town... and if one or some of them come toward me to rob or kill me I'm glad I have something. This is especially true now that I'm in my 50s. If you watch Active Self Protection (actual videos of assaults) in order keep yourself from being a victim of violent crime you need (1) awareness and (2) self defense tools ... whatever you are able to carry. The idea that I want to go to a game so I can "pull a knife on someone a the game" is a mischaracterization. The idea is that either in the stadium or outside the stadium you have a weapon to defend your life as a last resort if you need it. Thanks for watching.
I carry a fixed blade for my protection and a folder for theirs. Whip the folder out first to show em, if they wanna keep going, snatch out the bigger fixed blade and go to work.

Awesome vid. Really Informative, you know your stuff man. subscribed.
Thanks Jonathan. Feel free to browse my other content as I spend most of my time showing people how to make their cars last way longer than expected.

Very well presented and articulated 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Cool tips! I prefer fixed blade knives... just kinda paranoid that folding knives will fold back on my fingers by accident 🤣
Yeah, everything else being equal fixed blades are better. But, I'd rather have a Spyderco on my hip than no blade at all. Thanks for watching.

Thanks Marc. Yes I think not enough has been made of pocket carry. Hopefully my video can help change that!
So u only carry incase u get attacked? Not for any other practical use

Put a static cord on that bone tactical and it’ll be even better.
Greg is a complete con artist.

Yeah, most those knives are illegal to carry. Get you in jail.
