My daughter has perfect straight teeth by the doctor suggested the quad helix to expand her jaw , could this result to crooked teeth? and how this needs to be used to reach desired expansion?

I currently have the reverse of an expander. I have a Constrictor device that looks similar to the quad helix. It's is so painful on the tongue. Even swallowing saliva is torture. This Thanksgiving is going to be rough. I will try the salt water rinse tonight.

I was gonna get my quad helix out but it was embedded into my gums and they dried it off then glued it again and left it whats gonna happen

I just got my expansion 3 days ago but one of the back springs have cut a deep hole in my tongue 😢 at what point should I consider this "not normal"?

Earlier i had braces when i was teen and had 4 premolars removed. It corrected my teeths. But maybe cuz i didnt wear the retainers properly so with time the front teeths flared out ,also i noticed now (also dr. Said ) that i have a unilateral posterior crossbite (i dont know if i had it earlier cuz earlier i went to dr cuz my teeths were outsude like overbite/overjet).
Now since i am 31 and now i have 4 wisdom teeths( two above and two below) no gap is left. Plus have an unilateral posterior crossbite. So can these QUAD HELX EXPANDER create some gap between teeths and can my smile be corrected to some extent without any surgery ?

It depends on a couple of factors. Definitely ask your orthodontist at your next visit and they should be able to help

try to brush it as best you can - rinse vigorously with mouthwash, and if you have a waterpik that is a great took to help clean in the hard to reach areas. Good luck!
Thank you for explanation I just got mine two days ago I’m having a hard time eating and swallowing despite eating soft food. The food also tends to gets stuck on top of quad helix and can’t get it down… any advise for this?
Food is gonna get stuck in braces or your appliance no matter what ): But using a proxabrush or water pic can help remove the leftovers with ease! Hope this helps!

6 months is average, but it may be more or less depending on the severity of the bite
Thanks for this video. Is it bad if my expander mooves? I can slide it around,it mooves at the part where it connects to the bands on my teeth, it did that since they put it on but it started sliding around more today. I am just curious if that is a problem, if anyone answers it, thanks
The band is likely loose and will need to be recemented. Give your orthodontic office a call and they should be able to help you out

A quad helix may sometimes cause a gap to form but not as frequently as an RPE expander
I got Quad Helix Expanders yesterday and it have metals on the sides and when i bit my jaw moves cuz of them they are hearting my gums and my next appointment after a month plz help
Give it a week - it takes a little time to get used to it but after a week almost all patients adapt and are doing fine
what is the max age for a Quad Helix Expander? Recently my upper jaw got a bit smaller after orthodontic treatment. I had a cross bite and braces only on the bottom teeth. Now my orho said my situation is mild they can break the jaw or leave it as it is. After my bite was corrected from the ortho-treatment I have been experiencing jaw and tmj pain there is no garante that breaking the jaw will help with my jaw problem. I'm really sad my treatment was a failure this was my second ortho-treatment when I was young also wore braces. I'm now 26. thank you
At 26 you can still expand teeth with a quad helix, but the amount of expansion achieved will be much less than a teenager or preteen.
I can’t advise specifically on your treatment what your best option may be, but you can seek a second opinion from another orthodontist to find out if there options that don’t involve surgery
Sofluffyunicorn….you should consult with an MSE (maxillary skeletal expanders). They can work wonders with those. I have also heard of Dr Ting. He is able to expand the jaw in adults without breaking the jaw bones. He uses this technique that involves drilling tiny holes along the middle of the palate. It sounds gruesome but it’s done under local anesthesia and way better than undergoing jaw surgery. Best of luck!

It will depend on how severe your crossbite is it to begin, but in most cases it will be about 4-6 months

I just had one put in and I have flossed everywhere else. But I am afraid of the floss getting stuck or damaging the device.

The first week is always the worst. Way soft foods and time some Advil or Tylenol. In a couple days you should be feeling much better. Hang in there 👍
I've had really bad pain in my molar for two days now especially when I bite down but when I put my tongue on the quad helix it makes like a noise so does it have to do with the appliance or could my tooth be cracked?

I got it a week ago. It hurts a little bit in The start but you will Get used to it. It was hard to swallow and felt weird. In The start you should avoid eating hard food and instead soft food like mashed potatoes and yoghurt. But you should always avoid caramels and gum

@@Pikajesss no, it's super painful. my tongue keeps getting the shape of the thing and it hurts so much. it's literally entraining itself onto my tongue. i was looking for something to explain to my why there's so much pain in my mouth and i literally can't even talk. having my tongue resting inside my mouth is so painful.

@@sdk7367 I had an underbite it took around 6 months to fix it but my dentist didnt removed it I dont know why😞.Eating food is not a problem you can eat anything but the real problems are talking and when I put pressure on the quad helix wire involuntarily while sleeping the next day my toungue hurts really bad.This sunday is my dentist appointment I am gonna ask him to remove it hope so he does😀

hello, thanks for the video! I was just wondering, do I need to clean the quad helix expander at the roof of my mouth? If so, how do I do that? I'm scared I'll damage it if I brush it with my toothbrush. Would it be enough for I just use a waterpik/water flosser to clean it?
I got a water pic for flossing my teeth and that helped get food that got stuck out.
Waterpiks are a great tool to help clean a quad helix. You can also use mouthwash.
You can use a toothbrush as well, it shouldn't cause any damage or problems.

At my orthodonist office were i got my Quad Helix they gave me a free special tootbrush with smal brizzles that i can use to Get food that stuck out.

"Mild discomfort". My tongue is fucking killing me, even water hurts to swallow. On day 3, this is so far worst day.
How long is required? It kills me. :( Hard to eating and my charisma disappears when I start talking. :D
