  • "Baleleng" is a Filipino folk song, probably of Cebuano or Sama origin. Highly popular in the Visayas and Mindanao, it is a sad, bittersweet farewell song of a young man to his beloved maiden. The original composer is unknown, and its lyrics have been passed down from generation to generation and in many provinces in the Philippine islands.
This folk song was brilliantly arranged by Alejandro Consolacion II, as the 2nd movement of his composition entitiled "Divertimento".
    Soloist: Albert Napoleon J. Roldan
Conductor: Eudenice V. Palaruan, with the Concerthouse Orchestra
Performance Date: September 2015, Assumpta Theatre, Antipolo City, Rizal as part of the educational concert series "Album for the Young".
Special thanks to my page turner, Jeruel Orillaza, a very dear friend.
