Jabari, with only private funding and the Parliament giving him a charter, believing he would fail, manages to create a prosperous colony rivaling the capital? ..... Why does that remind me of C.J. Rhodes and the BSAC.
Great episode, thanks. I loved the details of the chemistry used to oxygenate that nitrogen atmosphere. It reminded me of when I was working as a "sales droid" for an aerospace research company. I led a winning bid for a European Space Agency study of a robot pilot plant for mining oxygen on the moon. Here the basic process was to mine aluminium oxide for its oxygen content and then discard unwanted quantities of any byproduct aluminium. To allow reliable unattended operation, even during the lunar night, I opted for a design powered by "nuclear batteries" and using chemical processing plant designed by nuclear "hot cell" experts.
Great historic video. More for the story and continually establishing a strong storyline... SOMEONE NEEDS TO PICK THIS UP FOR COMPLETE ANIMATION...!! Get your story well in line now PLEASE..!!
It baffles me how the assembly can hold such a grudge against corporations YEARS after a war, like they are aware how much of a part third parties play in some industries right? That's like me having beef with Lockheed even though I well aware that I need them for weapons for my planet's military force.😂
According to the wiki the first interstellar war in the Assembles history was started when multiple mining conglomerates, instead of gathering Drift to enable the first drift gates instead hoarded it all for profit and illegally declared their own nation. The war did establish the navy and was won quickly, but it’s left a sour note that the early pushes to expand were taken advantage of like that. There are other in universe cases of mega corporations screwing up which the assembly then has to resolve. Suspicions of corporations and conservative style thinking are inevitable after that.
@@bendonoghue3433 While I obviously agree with you there, you can't help but think of it as petty in a way. Take for example Rockefellers Standard Oil, it was shut down in 1911 by the supreme courts after they deemed it an illegal monopoly, but it still lives on in the form of Exxon Mobil, albeit under a myriad of laws that keep it from reaching its ancestors status. I think the assembly just needs to let go of its distrust towards corporations and really just enforce its laws to prevent the commerce war. After all they rely on KDFY to construct warships for their military, and to consistently hold a grudge over ONE conflict is about as petty as a government could be. Especially since Jabari here has an interest in exploration.

Valerian: gets better than centrum
Centrum parliament: "no, wait, that's illegal, he can't do that, shoot them or something"
That response is like most governments, which fear and envy private citizens exceeding their capabilities.
Centrum: They'll never profit
Valeria Sebus: *profits*
Centrum: Wait, that's illegal.
Centrum sounds like the U.S. government.
Parliament: Fine, but we won't help you.
Jabari: does it without their help.
Parliament: *Pikachu face*

Halperns war! Finally
Awesome. Can’t wait to hear about halperns war.
Yeah this guy reminds me of the Helios CEO from For All Mankind. Also animating the solar system with orbital inclanations is a nice touch.
Centrum: We said we wouldn't help. Never said we wouldn't profit!
"Fortune favors the bold"
I've been waiting for this world!
Bought season 1, it is lots of fun, I might enjoy these shorts even more.
Imagine how thing would have gone if the expedition failed I doubt anymore systems would have been colonized

Well, if you don't have a public policy, a private one will develop. I like the story.
I really hope they do a video on the Arasinia Commerce war
Can you do more videos on the Frontier War? Atamara maybe
Centrum; amiright?!

Yeah but I doubt Lockhead would try an armed revolt against the government.
Governments hate the competition.
