Many thanks for watching! Got lucky with the weather and the lake was looking incredible iced over like that. Back in a week or two to stay in the refuge. Can't wait! Thanks again, happy hiking! 🙂

Just caught up on your last two videos Martin, very different weather in each one. Val d'Aran never fails to impress, a wild camp by the frozen lake would be epic although I'd consider taking Isabel along to help fight off any bears. The refuge/bothy you came across looks decent enough for an overnight stay, I saw a few of them during my 4x4 travels in the Pyrenees, some in a better state than others. Take care mate 👍

Hi Ben. Yeah, the weather is more changeable up in the mountains. We got lucky though pretty much, apart from the odd bit of sleet. That little shelter would certainly do for a night, especially given it's so close to a water source. I'm tempted to go back up there on Saturday morning (Besiberri) and camp by the lake or the refugio de Besiberri, or there's another free refugie called Molières which is in the same area which I've not visited. Ideally I'd go on the Friday after work and stay in the not so free Conangles refuge as the bus drops me off there, and then hike early Saturday morning for an overnighter but Conangles is closed. But yes, that area is stunning and (I use a brilliant free map calle mapy.cz) can download all types of map for free, and looking on there, there is a brilliant loop round that I can do for 4/5 days, so I think that's going to be one of my holidays this year and then hopefully Scotland and Wales. If you and Tris ever fancy a trip over to go hiking there, let me know! Thanks for watching mate, appreciate it. ATB.

@@whatsnottohike I think a multi day trip around there would be great, way better than getting rained on in Scotland. I’ll give you a shout if I ever head over that way; a cheap flight to Barcelona then a bus to the mountains would make a good trip I reckon.

@@Adventure-Outdoors for sure! (I do work for a car hire company so can always get a super cheap car) I really must pluck up the courage to drive here. I really have no idea why I don't. Ridiculous really 😂

Hi Martin, that looked like a nice chilled out trip that you and Isabel took. The scenery there is fantastic. I look forward to seeing your next camping trip there. Is it easily accessible from Barcelona? Take care 👍

Hey Andrew. Thanks for watching! If I go on my own, the bus literally drops me off before the Vielha tunnel and that's the starting point of the hike. About 5 hours on the bus, 4 in a car. Maybe this weekend or next I'll be back out there. Have you managed to get out much yourself? Cheers 🙂

Hi Martin. I was out for one night about 2 weeks ago. I was looking into going to the Spanish pyrenees, maybe next year, I would have to fly into Barcelona as it's the nearest airport with flights from Ireland. I am hoping to get to Mallorca in the autumn to walk some of the mountain range there (GR221) 🤞 . Thanks for the info on about the bus 👍
