This is the mk1. Sometimes I get pretty clean sounds with it, meaning lower noise floor and lower distortion. I wish I had a better handle on the gain staging. This seems to be also affected by the input impedance of the audio interface. It's a little frustrating.
I own the MKII and recently bought an MKI, initially planning to sell the MKII. Now I'm not so sure. The MKI has that magic sound, but the MKII offers greater flexibility due to lower noise, all while preserving that distinctive crunch of Sega goodness. What surprises me the most about these chips is their refined sound, going beyond typical video game sounds.
Great sounds! I use the Blast Beats which are also one of the most creative electronic instruments IMHO
Thanks!
Is this the mk2 version? I've got the mk1 which appears even a bit dirtier.
