Thanks Nigel, it was a nice day out. The proper Dartmoor climbs are still to come, I’m waiting for some better weather, but really excited to get to finally ride there.
It did make me laugh when I saw it there. This is the second trail we’ve done near Dartmoor, and I think there are a lot more nice gravel trails that I’m yet to explore.
Thanks John, I really enjoyed the ride,Ade for a nice day out. Shame about Haytor, but the time was running out and it would have meant leaving Deb waiting at the cafe for half an hour or more in the cold. Stoke Hill was a good compromise.
Thanks Lewis, and this ride was just on the fringes. The further you go onto the moor, the better it gets. I can’t wait to do my ride across Dartmoor when the weather gets better.
@@DarrenPhillips ha ha. Yes. Very pleasant video. Could see you were enjoying it. Im looking for some advice. I’m looking to get back outside after several years. I’ve done a lot of Zwift cycling since Dec and feel outside would be great in Spring. Do you have any ideas what sort of bike I should be looking for? Bikes are so expensive at the moment. If I go down a reasonably new bike I’m looking at the Trek Domaine AL 2. I know you’ve got the 5(?). How do you find it?
@@philtucker856 I love my Domane SL5, I prefer riding it to my much more expensive Canyon. Which I’m hoping to use a bit more this year. After a harsh winter, the Trek needs some TLC to make it all nice again. It’s such a comfortable bike. It all depends on what type of riding you want to do, my Trek easily converts to a gravel bike, but I bought Deb a gravel specific bike last year and she loves it and it was only £500 new. There are some nice Trek Dual Sport hybrids that will do road and Gravel for the same price. If it’s a road bike, get the lightest bike you can afford as it will make the most difference to its performance. The Trek is relatively heavy which you can feel on the hills.
@@DarrenPhillips thx. I’ve got to get my head round what a gravel bike is and how I could use it. They weren’t around the last time I looked for a bike 👍
Know that area , we used to stay near Newton abbot and ride the trail to bovey Tracey alot, also the climb from lemonford caravan park up to haytor was amazing, lovely tea rooms at top The art museum cafe in bovey is an beautiful cafe If you visit haldon park the climbs all around are beautiful Holne to dartmeet via vensford Res also Love Dartmoor, so beautiful
Dartmoor is on my list for this year, but I’m waiting for the nice weather. We went on holiday in Dartmoor last year and I secretly took the family to all the climbs for a little look. After the fifth one, Deb cottoned on! 🙄 Thank you
Thanks John, I just had my Hutchinson Performance 5’s on, they’re 30’s so plenty good enough for the trail. I couldn’t be bothered going out in the cold and putting my new tyres on, so I just put a tube in the front and the back is still tubeless. 😬
Sweet - I used to live in Newton Abbot and then moved to Exeter so I know those routes and climbs really well, lovely and very familiar! The “O” in “Bovey” is like the “o” in “dog”, not “Bow”vey btw - sounds funny when you say Bowvey! (And that’s from someone who now lives in Fowey - pronounced “Foy”!)
Fantastic video Darren and great filming. Dartmoor is just the best! Thanks for sharing.

Haha Darren! You found my glove! 🧤🤣👍 Thanks for the shout out aswell! 👌😀 Love to do some of those trails! 🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️

Cracking views Darren, looks ace Dartmoor. 👏🏽

Looks brilliant Darren and so quiet!
Thanks Chris, it is a nice trail, I definitely recommend it.
Another excellent video thanks, every one makes me smile and brightens the day. Cheers
Thanks Peter, you’ve just made my day! Glad you’re enjoying the videos.
Lovley video and music
Thank you Nicola, I’m glad you liked it.
Nice video. Really enjoyed it and the music 👍
Thanks Phil, my wife said the same about the music. So it’s nice to hear when all the hard work finding it pays off.

Great video Darren and those quiet roads and trails look perfect to exercise the lungs and legs. Stay safe.
Thanks Steve, it was a really nice trail, I hope to find a few more around the country as I’m off exploring.
You must love those hills 👏. Keep up the great work buddy 👍
Thanks Peter, I do love an ascent or two. I find it rewarding when you get to the top and can enjoy the views your hard work has earned.
Great way of looking at it mate. The big rewards.
Nice ride and elevation Darren, very well done.
Thanks Terry, they were all really nice climbs and the trail was amazing.

😂 I was convinced I’d said it right! I’d have googled the phonetic spelling, but knowing me, I’d have forgotten it and still called it the same! 😜
Beautiful views but take it easy on yourself
Exercise is good for the soul Dad!
