Well to give you an idea my prefab transfer case set me back about 3 grand but it is similar to this one, I can change out gears pretty quick and mine is a full billet case, the fully built power glide transmission in my truck has actually grenades before the prefab case ever would, it's a good peace for sure. I think it's what the big boys run as well...
you can get a divorced ford or dodge np205 off ebay for like 400 to 700 bucks.that way you could position it to where you need it and build an intermediate shaft according to where the case is
Actually them transfer cases are very very inexpensive I paid 1600 dollars for mine but it all time four wheel drive an their not lying on how easy it is to work on an gears are cheap enough i have to sets just in case moments i bought a cyclone gear box for mine

You could always go with a high angle drive shaft. Or you could reclock your front axle and shim the rear.

What exactly do they mean option to put it in 2wd, how do they do that? Removing the drive shaft?
