Exploring an Abandoned Island Naval Base - Barracks and Underground Bunkers
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 вер 2023
- Today we explore the rich history of this forgotten Naval Base. This once bustling military installation played a key role in both World Wars, housing soldiers and storing ammunition. However, the base was abandoned in 1947, leaving behind a network of forgotten barracks, mess halls, and underground bunkers. Join me as we uncover the secrets of this forgotten piece of history, walking through the empty buildings where soldiers once ate and slept, and delving down into the dark, claustrophobic ammunition bunkers where the explosive materials were kept. With each step, we'll learn more about the lives of the servicemen who called this place home, and the vital role they played in protecting the nation during wartime. So sit back, buckle up, and get ready to explore the past as we venture into the depths of this forgotten base.

Every time I look at a place that was abandoned I think of the life people had and how they , it’s kinda sad sometimes 💔
You know it's incredible that these buildings which have been abandoned now for 76 years are still standing, where as much newer buildings of only 20 years or so have fallen to the ground from decay and deterioration, a cool explore !😀
Abandoned military installations are right up there with industrial facilities on my most wanted list and this place has this melancholic vibe to it on that beautiful day - most excellent viewing! Thank you for taking us there!
I admit it's not my favourite type of explored places but I watch because of your invariably professional approach to every urbex.
Love the historic walk through. Usually the ground floors were offices, supply rooms. The vault I belive was arms room. Upstairs were most likely the bays that were for sleeping - bunk beds. You got the mess hall kitchen with some really interesting history. Those ovens would have been really nice to look for a brass data tag.
Absolutely fantastic!!! I love military history and just old historical buildings ❤
Love these videos. Have you ever experienced anything paranormal on your explorations? Just curious. ❤️ from the UK 🇬🇧
Paranormal is all fake crap.
No
Paranormal stuff aint real
@@Gooner184 yup its all fake. People who believe that stuff is delusional

Here in the Pacific Northwest, we have Fort Flagler, Fort Warden, and Fort Casey, which made up the "Triangle of Fire" protecting the entrance to Puget sound, and the naval bases at Bremerton, Bangor and Whidbey Island, that were constructed around 1896. ("An Officer and a Gentleman" was filmed at Fort Warden). There are abandoned pillbox bunkers and labyrinth, pitch black underground tunnels that are creepy-fun to explore. It's a great place to spend Halloween.
Would love to see videos of that area!
I love how u add the music to you’re videos. It gives u all kinds of feelings and really adds art to the videos. I was just scrolling UA-cam and seen u had uploaded this a couple of hours ago and was like heck yea I gotta check the video out!! Keep doing you Devin cause what ever you’re doing with these videos it’s freaking awesome man!! 💯 👏🏼 😎😎
I loved the history you gave of this strange place. It's always sad to hear about tragedies on some of these old abandoned sites. Six families lost loved ones here. That's awful. Probably very little was done for the safety of the people working here. It seems like this place could be haunted. Some of the background noise were weird and scary. Thank you for this wild tour.
First comment, yay! Always awesome videos. Have you ever done a closed fast food joint? There are lots of abandoned places here in Toronto, just waiting to be demolished for more condo and subway/streetcar building projects. I just don't want to be caught. Canadian trespassing laws are pretty tough here.
No they're not the tresspassing laws there are super layed back
He did a closed Taco Bell not too long ago
No, they are very specific. If there is a NO TRESPASSING sign up anywhere on property and you get caught inside, there is no debating your jail time.
@@BOBSBOWLINGSTUFF The jails are overcrowded. They aren't going to put you in jail for mere trespassing.
Was so glad to get home after a crappy work day and see you had posted. The scenery and your laid back positive vibes were what I needed to wind down and raise my mood. The history and that old photo were a perfect touch. Thanks for sharing another amazing explore!
Lenny and Larry's cookies are amazing! If you haven't tried one yet, I suggest the Snickerdoodle. So good!
Glad to to helped when you needed. I've had that flavor also and love it. Thanks as always
I love seeing the remnants of old shelving like that. It's just cool to think about what used to sit on them and to picture the actions taking place around them. Very cool video
This was very interesting! Thank you for posting! 😊

I always look forward to viewing your videos. I admire your dedication and how thoughtful & respectful you are in each place you visit. Thank you for documenting these wonderful places that have once been of what something was; keeping their beauty and history alive. :)
Devin, we have been watching you since you started this channel. You do a great job.
Thank you guys so much
Great video!,,
Beautiful photography.
Your narratives are getting better all the time. What a great piece of history that should be a historic sight for generations. Sadly I think it will be covered up by Mother Nature so thank you for the tour, most enjoyable. :o) Stay safe
That looked like the Cumberland Gap near the end. Nice explore!
Hello 😊🇪🇦 a nice silent place, but the biggest building was sure to be scary at night😮👻thanks for showing the history of this buildings and until next one👍😎
Thanks!
Thank you !
I really liked this exploration, it was very interesting. I wish you could of gotten in the building that had the Christmas decorations. Thank-you for sharing.
I'm watching this on the *big screen,* this is *awesome!!!* I'm watching this in *high-definition* and it's beautiful looking. This is the stuff that I really, really, really like, it's just awesome. Thank you very much for doing this and showing us!!!
General warning UA-cam does change your settings without your knowledge
Thanks 🙏
Your voice is so relaxing I end up dozing off watching your explorations
If only the walls could talk just imagine 😮
That was really cool
Thank you for the video
You're welcome
Nice thank you
Mysteriously beautiful
If the roof goes the rest follows fast, nice old buildings and nice explore.
What would an explore be without “a chair just chilling “ and Christmas decorations . Very cool location
Your intro was delivered in the same style as The Proper People. Great exploration! 😎👍
Just imagine, all those huge buildings' bricks were laid by hand. Mad respect for those bricklayers. Also...Holy shit, you found the yellow brick road!
I find a beauty in the ruin and decay. As it is frequently said, if those walls could talk, what stories would they have? Plus the idea of a vastly different time almost forgotten in our modern days, to me these type of places instill a fondess of simpler times.
Awesome video! You should check out the Port Richmond generating station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The inside looks like a Institute super cool the big open wide room is beautiful putting the camera through the window as you look out side looks soo unreal very beautiful love it
Love you ~Amber
The stone foundations on those last buildings were cool. You don't see that style of building anymore.
13.30 prisoner lock down (mp holding) cell (probably temporary). barred windows, mouse hole in half door for rations. most of the larger rooms look like typical barracks to me. the room with the barred windows and one chair is probably an interrogation room. not much has changed in the layout of these buildings in all these years.
All that newer modern blue and yellow plastic tube couls and pvc pipes and that mosern portable office makes ya wonder of they were planning on doing something with the land or buildings
“Got a little warhead”. Lol
I've been waiting to see someone check out old Eakers Air Force Base in Blytheville, AR. Some of its still in use but there are so many empty, decrepit buildings and houses. I've been thru some of it and its got a vibe...
Absolutely sensational video explores. PLEASE Just a little advice wear CDC and FDA approved N95 masks, there are lead based paint chips and dust also that place has not been cleared of asbestos. who knows what else is laying around, being a munitions plant i can only imagine, you did a great job on video and great history research. 😷 😎
I would have loved to see it as the amusement park. Solo explore? I am so usedto seeing you with your mate.
19:51 ufo pendant lamps. I'm thinking they are from the Art Deco/Modernist era.
I bought the exact same cookie the other day. it was bussin' i had to poop immediately after..... dope shit dude i love ur videos !!
😂
Did u say door truck 😂 13:50
18:16 Dentil (Latin for tooth) moulding, has its origins in Greek architecture.
Anything pre internet i like.
Did you use some new equipment for this video? Your intro voice sounded different than it usually does.
Absolutely love history and seeing these bases that were so important. Oh yeah-that was a multi-man shower. There is no single use shower in barracks. Probably we’re walls separating them so you had some privacy. This is a fascinating place! I’m so glad you tell the history that goes with it. Those roads look like they’re in good shape. I love that main gate. What a beautiful piece of art. The detail that is so lacking now in buildings is great to see.
❤❤❤
That train might be a North folk southern train

Thanks for the information.
Cool. But wear a mask around lead paint, honey.
"It could have been blasted off" No. Steel vault doors don't just evaporate. : )
Want a cool place
I'II watch this video twice.
At tne same time I'II give you views.😊😉
Its a shame no one repurposed these bldgs long before they got to this condition...
Why does the thumbnail look like you're about to go run past some kid screaming 'Revive me I got the raygun' to go down the stairs to get jug.
Legit looks like zombie verruckt from world at war.
As you would expect, that was my favorite map from WaW

That place must be very inaccessible. Very little graffiti.
boring as hell or nah?
Where exactly is this place ???
