It’s crazy how she did the collab with DPK. Who was ofc Luther form Warriors who got Cleon killed , played by Dorsey Wright who was Annie’s potential Baby daddy in Hair as Hud. The universe bro 😂😊 Love the podcast btw!!❤ Btw Have you guys done anything relating to Savage Streets w/ Linda Blair ??
@@twodollarlatefee awesome!!..just finished hearing that episode and it was Soo good!!Savage streets is one of my Top flix period And yes the soundtrack rocks; got it in my workout playlist 😅. The only thing I gotta put in my 2 cents is that I disagree about Brenda’s turnaround at the end. I think it was a pretty realistic turn as it didn’t show her as this one dimensional cartoony “bad-ass”. She WAS a cool asf tough and sassy street-wise chick but there were limits to her bad-assery and wasn’t a hardcore criminal psychopath like Jake. Once she realized what she was up against she started to panic (what any normal woman OR man would go through dealing with a human monster) She was a clever badass insofar that she was in total control of the situation and that her plan was working smoothly (up until she got wacked in the head with the fence; “Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face”…M.Tyson 😅😂) So once she realized after everything she’s done to this raging psycho (like a real life unstoppable terminator on drugs ) and he’s still coming at her , she panicked and ran off screaming like wtf!! I gotta get outta here!!! Lol it’s fight or flight …if the fight ain’t working then im running!! I don’t think ofc the director was trying to make any overt political statement about empowering women but he Just showed her as more human. She just cracked like many would in this situation but still overcame in the end though. (Like you guys mentioned). Just listen to the lyrics of innocent hearts (“tough on the surface but trembling inside”….)that’ says it all!!! Haha😄😎. Sorry for the novel but this movie really struck a chord for me for some reason as a kid in the 80s. Despite its obvious technical flaws and such , it really had this raw , emotional and visceral feeling with a heart that’ I havnt seen in other “Bmovie / grindhouse” flix. It also had underlying class conflicts (a big theme in the 80s, it was the lowly working class/poor underdog going against the powerful rich ahole) as the beef she had with the lovely stuck up c*nt Cynthia showed lol And it was sexy, cool (despite the gnarly rape scene) and Genuinely funny. You can just tell the actors had a legit chemistry and were really having fun based on how they were laughing with each other during the light scenes. This really cemented caring for the characters and what happens to them. Radical to the MAX!! 😂😅🤙…ohh and last thing, Omg your Linda Blair story was bonkers!! You are THE MAN bro !!!😃😁. ..what year was that ???! …I would’ve totally freaked if I was in your shoes hahaha🤘….Anyways great podcast , I’ll be listening to a lot more !!
@@brianregan75 always appreciate “two cents” especially when it’s chock full of all your relevant info! Thank you for your thoughtfulness and thanks for the positive feedback! 🤘🤘🤘Btw, I (Zak) still shake my head at the Linda Blair situation 😂
@@twodollarlatefee lol yeah I had a serious nerd attack there 😆 but I rarely hear anybody review Savage Streets with such details as you guys. So I had to chime in ha I just finished hearing your Warriors pod and again super great review and enjoyed those re-enactments !! The Warriors has been in my top 5 for sure. Idk if you’ve taken a deeper interest into the real NYC gangs in the late 70s but there’s some really great docs I would recommend: 80 blocks from Tiffany’s Lefty in Brooklyn Flyin Cut Sleeves Rubble Kings 80 blocks would be my first choice as I think it’s a pretty good production for the 70s. You can find all of these on UA-cam (except rubble kings which is a newer retrospective documentary on that era); it’s the REAL WARRIORS !! haha 😄👍
Side note: also why wasn’t Annie cast for the sassy secretary in Ghostbusters??!! I mean I like Annie Potts too but she’s from Kentucky for gods sake !! Lol 😂😂
Awesome! Long Live The Shirts!
