I am old enough to have seen the Beatles, Zeppelin, Hendrix, etc. and have been following Greta since 2018. I haven’t been so excited about a band in years. They bring me so much joy. Not only are they talented musicians, but also lovely & funny guys. I am so happy that I finally got to see them twice last year. I have been watching some livestreams of the Starcatcher shows and they have really stepped up their live performance. I don’t understand the close minded people who make it their mission to hate on them. I get that their music isn’t for everyone but they don’t deserve the vitriol.
@@MissJensk1they’ve done little teasers of it during jakes solo/band jam bits. At my show Josh said “that was just foreplay” after they finish teasing a bit of it.
I remember watching your first reaction to them and you were pissing me off with all the comparisons to LZ. So refreshing to hear you say how you have made a complete turnaround and have really come to appreciate them. I, as you, wish I had heard about them earlier so I had more time to catch their earlier concerts, but one thing GVF has brought me is new music, new and old bands and finding more great music!
Yeah, it’s been a long journey. But I came around pretty quickly. I think by the third or fourth reaction I was digging them. (This is my personal account) thanks for your patience and support along the way!!
A cool thing abt them is that they don’t play to a click track so danny is the only one keeping the tempo for himself and for everyone (ppl have been able to record what they hear through their iems and all you hear is just them playing and occasionally them talking to each other through a talk back mic which has been posted on yt) and they did four live albums from their four strange horizons shows which they did to debut tbagg live for the first time for ppl!!!
I agree with you 100%... I love them too... Zeppelin is my top 4ever...but these guys are amazing and I can look forward to new stuff as long as I live💖🎉💥
Excellent reaction video, I enjoyed hearing all the details about the instruments. We can forgive the dodgy note, as they said themselves, live & flawed beats fake perfection. Oh &, two weeks ago I had never even heard of theae guys, so, better late than never, huh? 🎶
They’ve never used click tracks live onstage, they dont like to use them. Those fan-recorded audios I suggested in the comments on your last video actually sound just as good and clear as the ones done by the Greta channel, I was surprised.
Technically speaking, they already released four live albums (one for each stop on the Strange Horizons tour), but they were only released as limited edition vinyls. I would love for them to release high-quality versions on Spotify or something, but idk if that will ever happen.
Great reaction. Thanks. If you want to see an extended solo on this song find sacred the thread filmed on April 5 2023. It’s recorded on an iPhone by a fan but is a very good recording. Jake absolutely loses himself in the solo and it is AMAZING. Enjoy.
This song actually has an extended intro/guitar solo. It started as some sort of Greensleeves-inspired jam played live before Age of Machine and has been built upon. I'm a bit disappointed that it's not on the album...or at least included in this live version, because that did play it that evening. Thankfully, it's at least still part of the show, because it gives Josh time to change outfits. :D
You said you’re hoping for a live album soon - I’m 99% sure they recorded Starcatcher live. No piecing it together or adding any effects in post, it was just recorded live in one take, which they said they hadn’t done before. Is that what you’re referring to?
How well said. Glad you’ve accepted that imitation is the greatest form of flattery. No doubt they imitate Led Zeppelin (amongst others) but in such a distinctive yet flattering way. This song is in the anthemic spirit of Kashmir. Yet sounds nothing like it. I can only hope this band goes down as a classic rock greatest. Even if they are a band out of time.
I saw these guys last July and they were absolutely phenomenal! I do have to say though, my only slight criticism would be that towards the end of the show, the dragged out Highway Tune to what felt like damn near 20-25mins, which also included Josh screeching a little bit too much for my taste. I like some good jam songs as much as the next guy, but I would have probably preferred to hear a few more songs than extended Highway Tune. But hey, it is what it is. I’m actually seeing them at Madison Square Garden on 09/12. I’m hoping that since they have more material, they won’t feel the need to drag songs out too much. Like, I’m cool with extended guitar solos on Weight of Dreams, or Age of Machine etc. but I’m cool on the rest lol. I’m psyched to hear The Archer live 🤘🏻
The Archer live is one of the most fantastic performances that I have ever seen (and I’ve seen a lot). It’s not only musically delicious but the staging is incredible.
Thanks man! Yeah, I know Chris Squire!! Strangely, I was not aware he played a Rickenbacker. Thank you for your comment. Please Like, Subscribe, and hit the Notification’s Bell if you haven’t already!!!
Well, in a way, that was me when I first heard them. I gave them shit. I think anyone who says they lack artistic merit is closed minded and completely foolish. As I was. Thank you for your comment!!
@@shotgunndunnI think the inconvenient truth is that there is a huge element of envy and jealousy when it comes to these guys. Especially from middle aged men.
Why be bothered by something that someone says? I know Yes, and Chris Squire. But I never knew what he played. I did get to see them once. But I surprisingly didn’t recall seeing a Rickenbacker. The studio version is a 9/10
This version is a 11/10

Ditto!
What is even more amazing is this is the first time they played this live. Just mind-blowing.
Wow really? Incredible.

I love how much more you can hear of Jake’s guitar riffs live(and Sammy’s bass lines)! We didn’t lie to you, did we😏😉!
I dont mind the occasional so called sour note as it shows they r really playing and not using background recordings
One of the best new bands around
Totally agree. I'd rather hear a flat (or sour) note here or there in a concert because I know it's real.
I absolutely loved the debut of Sacred The Thread in Sacramento Ca. It’s one of my favorites from Starcather
They still jam I’ve seen them 6 times so far and they definitely go on multiple jams a show

They have 4 live albums from their Strange Horizons tour in 2021. Nashville, Chicago, Bridgeport and LA.

According to Sam his bass is actually *surf* green and he will let everyone know

I love that intro.
Seeing them in Rosemont? I’ll be there aswell, fuckin pumped.
Yup. Rosemont. Can’t wait!!!
They have always done a lot of call & response when jamming and the guitars are turned to Josh's range

I love that what you heard was a sour note but it hit a scratch in my ear 😮💨
Hahaha if it makes you feel any better, I was late to the band wagon and missed their Australian tour, they have only been here once.

Love your reaction, but you can not talk about Rickenbacker bass players without mentioning the greatest Ric player of all time, Mr. Chris Squire.

It bothers me when supposed rockers mention Rickenbacker base players and leave out the King... Chris Squire.

I could be bothered by your lack of correct spelling. 😉 But I choose not to be. Bass is spelled bass. Not base.
