good review the only thing that I don't like about the rotring is the color black after a few months they show signs of wear compared to the color sliver

I don't think you should replace the whole eraser, the metal thing that holds the eraser is perfectly usable so why replace it?

Good review. I feel too annoing the tollerance on press. I'm here for that, to see if my pencil is broken.

This is awesome one of the better quality reviews ! Just ordered the 800 in black can’t wait. However I’m just wondering if you have ever owned a silver 800 does it looks better than the black with gold accents in your opinion ?

My personal preference is black so that's what I went with for all my Rotring pencils. I have heard that over a long period of time the silver finish holds up better while the black will show some brass

Is it worth buying 800+ mechanical pen in comparison to 800?what about build quality is this fully metal or some plastic inside the pen pen?is this made in Germany or somewhere else?any issues problems while using the mechanical pen?

The only difference with the 800+ is the stylus at its tip. Otherwise, it's the same pencil. It has brass internals. I believe they are made in Japan but were originally made in Germany. I haven't noticed any problems

The main complaints I have with my 800+ is that the stylus sucks. It's slow to respond. My 800+'s tips doesn't wobble like the 800. Of course, it's frustrating when you expect a quality product. But also, that the wearing pieces are plastic :\

If you're dumb enough to carry ANY drafting pencil in a shirt pocket, retractable pipe or not, you're too dumb to own a drafting pencil. I've seen pencils with retractable pipe go through a shirt pocket, and then half an inch into the person's skin. This why nerds carry pocket protectors, and sensible non-nerds own pen cases or pen sleeves. Only the very dumb, or the very lucky, every carry any drafting pencil in a bare shirt pocket.
As for the rOtring 600, no, it isn't one of the best drafting pencils out there. The nose is shaped horrendously wrong for drafting work, and the darned thing breaks more often than any pen in its price range ever should. I have three dollar drafting pencils that have outlast two dozen rOtrings, if you count the ones I owned, and the ones all my coworkers own.
rOtrings are considered great pencils becvaus ethey cost a fortune, so snobs want them, and the uninitiated think they MUST be great, or they wouldn't cost so much. Fortunately, people have caught on, which is why the bottom has fallen out of the rOtring price in the last few years.

it is also important to know that the company has since stopped production in Germany. The company is now just a name, but the technology of the 800 is great for pencil collectors and drafters. The metal body and 70% metal internals is something I admired from the 800. Sturdy and strong that it lasts when I write, which is something plastic pencils and Pentel graphgear 1000 failed to do. The lack of smell from the 800 is also a plus for a metal pencil.
Is the price completely justified? Not really, but it is a pencil that is worth writing with and drawing. A very sturdy pencil that can handle a heavy hand of a writer. That is why I enjoy writing with the 800

Not untrue… but I love my two 600 pencils where the tip is a hastle not to get crooked somehow etc. .., why, you might ask… it is beautiful, very elegant and has a modernism design idea behind it. The design choices are directly connected to their function… not to be confused with 80’s post modernistic formalism.

I see you wrote a similar comment also 2 years ago on Gentleman Reviewers video about the regular rotring 800. You feel very strongly about rotring pencils but don't mention what is better option in your opinion. What is your favourite pencil with a retractable pipe and why?
