- Federal Truball deep penetrator review @115 yds
Here I test the semi long-range accuracy of the Federal Truball deep penetrator slug with a standard mossberg 500 smoothbore field barrel using a bead sight. The slug performed comparatively well in this test and should make a good 100 yard deerslug for a basic smoothbore shotgun.

Pretty good dispersion, especially if you consider the wind. Truball has a reputation for good accuracy. Not too shabby tagging a gallon jug at that distance. That is well under minute of parolee.....
I really liked the round as well! It has been one of the most accurate slugs to date out of my mossy. Thanks for watching!
THAT WOULD IMPROVE IF HE GOT IT CRYOED. THE GROUP WOULD SHRINK IN SIZE. WITH AN ADJUSTABLE CHOKE BARREL, YOU CAN EXPECT 40% IMPROVEMENT. FIXED CHOKE HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF PERCENT IMPROVEMENT. THE WORSE THAT IT SHOOTS THE MORE IT WILL IMPROVE!
Great aiming and shooting at over 100 yards! Plus, not using any sights either!
I am impressed! great aim!
Hot dang I love America. 🇺🇸
Wow, 115 yards and you hit a one gallon jug!! Do you recommend the mossberg 500 or do you like a different shotgun better?
The mossberg 500 is extremely versatile, and you can attach an 18.5" security barrel, a 28" field barrel, as well as a 24" fully rifled barrel, making it one of the most versatile guns on the planet, capable of taking ANY game! I recommend the mossberg 500! lol 😂
Coincidentally, I think there is also a .50 caliber muzzle loader conversion barrel too! Lol
GET YOUR BARREL CRYOED AND ALL THREE SLUGS WILL GROUP THE SIZE OF A SOFTBALL AT 100 YARDS. IN AN ADJUSTABLE CHOKE, YOUR GROUP SIZE WILL ONLY DECREASE BY ABOUT 40%. IN A FIXED CHOKE HUNDREDS OF PERCENT IMPROVEMENT CAN BE ACHIEVED IF NOT THOUSANDS OF PERCENT IMPROVEMENT!
Good shooting Tex !
Good content, but you need a couple of production pointers for sure. A little equipment upgrade like a camera with strong zoom, a tripod and a mic pack would really help. Wind noise is a real deal breaker in any video (somebody tell Paul Harrell) and a shaky camera is hard to watch. If your video were as good as your shooting, you'd be getting an Emmy!
A Litter Better than 115 yards, as the Jug is behind the Torso.
I like the 3 tiered range setup you are at. Pretty cool.
It’s a great range!!
It’s a great range!! Thanks for watching!
Was this out of a smooth bore barrel and what choke?
115 yards is a good acurate ammo very cool
Yeah, for a smoothbore shotgun an 8" group at 115 yards is pretty good :). Thanks for watching!
The Magnum Channel you te welcome . thats a good ammo for farm defense this is a safe distance against pistols armed roubers
Lol! The only trouble is here in the states they don't announce they're robbers at 115 yards, they generally wait until you answer (or don't answer) the door! :)
The Magnum Channel haha i agree bro . but here in brazil the dogs anounce first . we dont open the doors never at night the dog anounce the gun works haha especialy in the farm
What is your favorite kind of guard dog?
DUDE you Nailed that Little Jug of water at 115 yard Open sites

Love the Video ... Later
Tripod! Makes the video so much easier to watch.
Good shooting.
Thanks, I was really happy with that accuracy from a smoothbore, they shoot WAY better than the winchester slugs in my 500! Coincidentally, I am going to the range tomorrow to try them at 200 yards, just for grins...I hope to get a rifled barrel for it someday, which should help a LOT, but I also want to know the limitations of the smoothbore shotgun at precisely measured distances!
The Magnum Channel I'm curious of the accuracy of a smoothbore as well. And have fun shooting.
I dont know about deer but they work well for bear defence. Or just incase i ever do cross paths with an angry sasquatch lol
Do you have to aim high with these? Or low?
Every gun is different, seems like I remember this one being a straight hold on...
Can I use a modified choke with rifled slugs?
Yes, but mossberg recommends improved cylinder
Awesome video brother, just sub’d to the channel.
Thanks man!
Bear and ticked-off sasquatch slug.
