Looking great on the eFoil board Lisa! Wow, what a fierce squall with 50 kts winds! Interesting how you rescued your friend in the Falcon. Glad you are all well! Happy New Year!!
Thanks! I hope you enjoy the one I will post this week. I don't post on a regular basis because my goal is not to make a living - just to document our travels and enjoy our time out here. If you ring the notification bell you will know when I post. PS I am not the calm one - Pierre is!
The winds looked frightening and you both looked calm. It was interesting to see how the tender was able to guide your friend’s boat into harbour between the two - Tiller was sure happy to welcome you home at the end of your day.
Great video and good to see you and the boat safe after that storm. We noticed Ilona and Frans on your video and if you see them again please pass on a big hello from Jeanette and Neil sailing vessel Echo Echo as we sailed across the Pacific with them when they were on Omweg in 2016. Would love to know how they are going. All the best, fair winds and I love your cute dog.
Enjoyed your channel! I’m trying to convince my wife that a circumnavigation is a great retirement project and went so far as to even start a little channel (@NavalGazingatCampDavid) to sell her on the life style….desperate times and all that. Lol. Thanks again for the great content. I have a whoooole new appreciation for the time and care it takes to create these episodes!
Nice to watch Lisa! Beautiful footage of sunset, especially the one in the end! Very nice view, I always greatly enjoy the sunsets. Very funny to see the footage on the airport anchorage in that big squall because I wasn't there and had no idea how bad it was since I was walking the dogs in the park. Was quite a surprise that the approaching greyness had such violent wind in it! I'm glad we could rescue those boats that were on the rocks in the park. And of course help out with the outremer that lost both engines. Cheers from Tikehau!
I hope your sunsets in Tikehau are beautiful every night too. Did you have the same electrical storm we had in Fakarava last night? Weather always brings surprises when we are on the water. Enjoy your Christmas!
Well, that was an experience. Nice to see that you are safe. Great video Lisa ... so nice and clear. All the best to you three out there. Love life ... and live it to the fullest !
Wow, that storm popped up from nowhere. I'm glad it ended well. The silver lining is that you definitely had a good test of your mooring before leaving BioTrek.
Curious if you've inspected a mooring that looked suspect and if you tried to reinforce it or just moved. Also, can you always tell visually? I'm sure you know the story of the Outremer Archer that had a mooring fail in Bora Bora and resulted in significant damage. I've often wondered if there is a way to have a backup if the mooring fails, but common wisdom is that dropping an anchor near a mooring just causes your chain to get wrapped around the mooring. Have you figured out any other way to protect yourself from mooring failure? Thanks!!
We try not to use moorings, and in some places BioTrek is too big eg Martha's Vineyard. In Tahiti we took that option because there were too many boats damaged on the docks in high winds last year - both marinas. Some of docks even broke in Papeete marina. As back up, Pierre attached our bridle to the swivel below the water. The best way to protect from mooring failure is not to use, them, or stay on board with anchor watch on. It helps to know history of the moorings and if they are inspected regularly.
French Polynesia generally has low cyclone risk since they start near Tahiti and go towards Fiji and Tonga. Marquesas, where we are now, has never had a cyclone - too close to the equator. The rally boats that went to NZ are having much worse weather with unseasonable cold weather and storms. And yes weather planning is super important! The dinghy in the water was the neighbor's not ours! We ALWAYS lift ours when not using it. Thanks for the comment!
@@biotreksailing I know French Polynesia well. It is definitely not a zero risk. I personally have chosen NOT to stay there over cyclone season many times. It's dumb.

Happy New Year to the family!
My first viewing as a subscriber…very impressed with the calm way you guys dealt with storm and rescue

Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for commenting. See you soon!
A bit of fresh wind blowing. Takes care of the dust and dirt on the deck, with that squall😂❤
⛵️🙏❤️
Sometime when I see them coming I get out the soap and wash the boat!
True sailing life, thanks for sharing🤗
Not all bad weather is predicable in advance!

You can do it!

Thank you! You too!❄❄❄
Great footage of the storm. Happy new year.
Happy new year!
We only saw the wind 40+ knots, so glad I didn’t know it was 50. Thanks for uploading this, it seemed more dramatic from Biotrek than Jamala.😮
We were in a windy location. We could use some wind here in Fakarava!

Safe travels!

Merry Christmas 😎
Merry Christmas where ever you are these days!
Are the moorings free of charge or do you have to pay for usage?
You must pay but the fee is minimal compared to a marina.
The joys of boating 😁
It is not all sun and beaches.
Both motors going down , Bad fuel ?
He said water in the fuel and clogged filters. But why both? We do keep the valve open between our 2 tanks to protect from such an occurrence.
I meant we do NOT keep the valve open!
Been sailing on a thunderbird in 60 knots, that was not a lot of fun, especially when the motor didn't start...
Ahh - motor problems. At least it was a sailboat!
👍
Enjoy your time with family!
Why stay in a cyclone area in cyclone season? Dumb. And why have your dinghy in the water in 50 knots?
