Esther, it's great to see you on these videos and hear your comments to Brent, always positive and supportive. You and Brent truly are THE couple!!!
When you said you would get around to it, you reminded me of a shore engineer at the shipping company where I worked. When discussing maintenance items with a chief engineer from a ship, if the answer was I will get around to it, he pointed to this round piece of metal with the letters TUIT burned on top of it. He would then say that he has a round to it and he did not need any more. Very smart man.
I saw a round TUIT years ago, a friend who was a mechanic had one in his pocket, along with a square one with a hole in the middle which had NOT A ROUND TUIT stamped. I would ask if he could do a job, hands dived into his pocket and out would come one, the square was not today. What a character.
43:25 do it on the car using hydraulic pressure from the master. Remove the pads first and the rotor will keep the pistons from escaping. Then hang the caliper away from the rotor to finish the job.
You are so versatile , you switch from one build to another and never miss a beat . I guess that's what makes you a master mechanic . You know every nut and bolt by sight and pull the sockets from the tool box and keep the beat like an orchestra conductor , Its such a pleasure to watch , I thank you for having us along , Stuart in Ontario ..
Good video. I know Ester has her own life and projects, but you should get her to film more of your video's. i enjoy seeing and hearing her interactions. You make a good couple.
That is very similar to his second channel.
Man Brent you sure know how to make an old mans day.
Nice to see the 54 back in the shop. Thanks Brent for the video
Awesome to see the Mrs taking the video camera. She is so supportive. Lucky man Brent.
Great to hear you and Esther having fun in the shop. And of course Pablo is enjoying the ride. Old parts can/will be difficult. Look forward to seeing more on the '54. Be safe and stay well.
Pablo setting in the truck looking down and as to say turn the AC on dad it's hot in here lolol
Ar the happy days of doing Jag brakes . Two tire levers to force the pistons back in the calipers and half hour with a file and wire brush to make sure pads would move freely (even had to grind a bit of the pads sometimes) .
Ice cream and donuts,my kind of car...minty!!
So glad you are getting to finish this one up. Should be quite the little ripper. I want to thank you and Esther for the content and we'll catch you on the next one...later!!
Good morning Esther and Brent, it’s great to be there with both of you as you work on that motor. I am fascinated by Brent’s ability to move between all car repair and maintenance, amazing creative problem solving.
Parts are a real pain anymore. Nice to have the lovely misses in the shop!
My grandmother won a 54 chevy at a grocery store grand opening it was brown with a cream white top it had cloth pin stripe interior it never did spend the night outside always garage kept. When she sold it in 1985 it only had 32.000 miles on it it had zero rust and the only thing that was not original was the tires the first set dry rotted and the points plugs and wires also the bottom of the driver's seat was recovered because my aunt spilled a baby bottle of milk and the foam started to rot. It had the coolest dash in it I love how the ash tray was kind of hidden
❤this is the. Build I wanna see!!
New calibers is the way to go Brent!
hello Brent happy to see the Chevy is back . Mabe check if head isn't wapped can cause problems also.😊
You should do what I saw at one garage. The guy had built a box around his air compressor to cut down on the noise and made it easier to hear people talking. It was a simple three wall box with a door and a roof with a 3" gap at the bottom of the door for air to get in & was made up of 2x4s & drywall, he didn't even mud the drywall or paint it.He did say it cut down on how often he cleaned the filters though.
Minty !
Thank You for sharing your video, and letting us hang out .
Later ...
Brent, to get the pistons out of the calipers re connect it to the car and pump the brake pedal. never fails. just be ready for the big mess. You need to do them evenly though or you will not get all the pistons out.
I love this build, My Dad bought a brand new 1953 210 2Door, Bronze and cream. MY uncle, dad's brother - in - law bought a 54 same, color as you're building. Both cars were 235 6's with power glide trans. I would like to see a 235 / 6 with electronic ignition and fuel injection.
Enjoyed watching as always, you stay yourself and are so real, thank you
I really like that Chevy. If it's ever for sale, that would be right up my alley!
You ability to strip these engines apart is so impressive. I surely dont remember it being so easy. 😂😂😂
You also need head bolts
Great video Esther good job on keeping Brent straight. Been awhile since you had worked on the 1954. Thank you guys for sharing.
💯👊👍💕
Nice to have parts that work
Brent, how would you like to have to lay on cold hard concrete all day? The more love and empathy you have for Pablo the happier he will be and the more he will love you.
He was a heated floor in the new shop .
Wow. Fix a few things can't find parts. Hoping the best for you. Great video..
Excellent video Brent :) , Ester :) , Pablo The Supervisor Dog 🐕 and Buddy :) ! Not nice when can't get parts agree and that terrible also hope get place may sell for get !
Love watching you guys all the way from New Zealand. Keep up the great work.
Allways something, parts are getting so parts stores dont carry much inventory, good too hear u both Analyze the situation,lol...uts a team effort.. be up an going again soon..again..later..haha
I was beginning to think, you had sold the 54!
Still here haha
Karl from Make it Kustom let's get a 4 link on the rear of this car brace the frame and slap a roll bar in this speed machine.🎉
Make sure you check the head and block for straightness you don't want to go back in for that leak
Doubt you’ll see this comment but I was so sad when you quit working on this car. I really wanted to see it through. I thought maybe you had sold it. Anyway, I think it looks better without the wheel covers 🙂
you normally pull the pads by pulling the pins and sliding the pads out on the car. The pins a held in with a spring clip on one end
Haha yeah figured that out
Thanks for sharing 😀👍
Good stuff guys well done sir Brent
I remember the exhaust work man this is an awesome car I dig this one. And engine work I wanna see.
Good decision Brent, you deserve a break. Still tinkering there is always something to do. Stay safe and enjoy.
How frustrating. Makes my mind itch!
I seen my buddy rebuild lots of calipers and he removed bleeders and screwed in grease fitting and used his grease gun and they popped a part than threw in parts washer for cleaning and degrease, grease has a lot more force than air and lives in all garage shops.
good show😎👍
You know Brent I really liked this video, Mrs Halfass and you had a decent dialog. To me it made it a bit more interesting than the music that is more typical of your channel. I like the tools sounds and you are very good at commentary while you work.
Thats a beauty
I'm glad to see this car again. Hope to see the old Dodge that went through the fire .
Thanks for another , Brother !!
Yes Sir!!!
Yeah Been waiting for it to come back Cannot wait to get it right a run that puppy My favorite car now days It is going to be cool not your best cause you have made some nice cars but I still like it
thx folks
Great video!
Cool video. Enjoyed watching ✌️ 😎
I want more of this you guys are an absolute awesome team
Good to see the’54 back🙂
Maybe you could use 3 c-clamps and air pressure and blow one piston at a time? Also the grease gun trick works but is messy.
Got to get the 4 pistons moving before one pops, calipers are very easy with experience. A piece of ply the same thickness as the disc helps. All is needed is 4 new pistons and a seal kit
Do you still have a sonic cleaner Brent throw the calipers in that
Good video Ester and Brent
Its like watching another glorified will it run this is not the customizing I love about you it's just like watching mortski or v.v.g etc etc we know youre a good mechanic amazing engine swapper but we love you for your customizing abilities
Good the 54 is back
I 100% love the commentary
Those stuck brake pads say it all. They need to move smooth like butter.
Hope you got it sorted out.
fun to Ester chat with you while you attack that old car. I get why you built it and when you get it right it will be a burner. Good Luck. Dennis
Need to put air compressor on a remote
connect the brake line of the car to the caliper and push those pistons out of there
Put a grease nibble to that brake caliber and with grease gun those pistons pop out quite easily
Hook it back up to the brake line on the car and pump the brakes. Should push them right out!
Those little pins that go through the pads just tap out.
having worked on jags lots i have a motorcycle master cylinder with a short pipe with a jag fitting on the end just to push pistons out
Brent didn't you have a line lock on this car ? Great video !
That is a cool car ! When are you going to have your son back in a video , he looks so much like you!
I was cringing when you were bent over that caliper and applying air.i have seen those pistons shoot to the ceiling with alot of force.best to face it downward toward the bench to prevent damage to the face.
Have you ever thought of replacing head gaskets and studs before turbo installs
Hi My Dear Friend Very Very Good Job ❤❤❤❤❤
I wish I had the money to make you an offer on this one.
Hello sir
For a brief moment during the out-tro , it looked like Pablo was driving….
It's English, for years I always thought Jaguar was a Swedish made vehicle, come to find out it's a English made vehicle, blew my MINE... Thumbs UP!...
Swedish .
REALLY ?
You need to get out more. 😂🎉
Now it’s Indian!
Pressure washing the lichens off it would be nice to do too.
Some days just go that way
A 2” chop?
Yeah you're probably having fun remembering where tools are in your new toolbox
Cylinder-head not warped?
Tira os retentor da pinça e lubrifica q soltam.
turn up the air pressure , put your face shield on!
Can you fabricate a grease fitting to go into where bleeder screw was and then take a grease
gun and push brake cylinders out of housing? 😮
Use Grease gun to remove piston on caliber
May be let those soak in some PB Blaster should loosen up
They look same as the ones on my 1994 xjs 4ltr convertible 4potters ? 🤔 I had mine refurbished over here in UK 🇬🇧
Plug the caliper back into its brake line and pump the pistons out with the brake pedal?
"it has a power steering leak, I am not sure why".... It's a Jag. hahaha :p
Jag's don't leak, they leave their mark!
Wow what an unusual build. Thats cool. Does it haul butt Purdy fast ?
jaber jaber jaber
If you xj6 brakes they have two pins with a r pin and wire spring you can get a repair kit as you say but they dont like standing outside and not used they will come apart with air but you did not hear me from england to stop the fluid will help make it move a bit at a time till they pop so put a catch over it it herts your fingers 😢 😅😅😅😅
Get a 350 Chevy with a scintilla Vertex Magneto your ignition is one wire
Hi love all ur videos thanks have a question for u ur hat how can I get one please I love it
