When I first started MMA, my coaches were super impressed because I had never done any kind of sparring before, and was still able to hold my own with some of their amateur fighters. It’s all thanks to this incredible channel. Been subbed since the dreads Shane. Thank you for passing your knowledge along.
Ricky Aguilar I’m 17, and weigh 150 lbs. started learning very basic skills off UA-cam about striking and grappling when I was about 13. Started formally training in Judo and taekwondo after my 16th birthday. Got my green belt in judo and started training in mma a year later (3 months ago).
Ricky Aguilar most definitely not. A lot of people get started late. I was just fortunate enough to have a gym/ dojo fairly close to wherever I’ve lived. A lot of the guys I train with are in their 20’s and are pretty athletic, most of them having done sports in high school like wrestling and such.
Stepping to the side blew my mind. I always thought a switch kick in class was the same as switching legs to step off. Was feeling scitica irritation from switch kicking. This just stopped it in half a minute. You deserve a tv show
It should be a bit tedious at the beginning, Conditioning is the very first thing when starting striking, just be patient and humble, then make a decision
@@benbutton5835 He didn't exactly give much detail, so I'm going based off of what he said. If he didn't ask questions or ask for help, and just complained on UA-cam when he got home, he's the problem. Like I said, he's not experienced enough to know if he's just taken his first class. Shut up and grind, then figure out what is what.

I’ve got my debut kickboxing matchup in November and your videos have helped me extremely in training. Muay Thai and kickboxing is all I’ve focused on, and those videos of yours are brilliant. Thank you.
Huge help here man! I'm pretty new to Muay Thai, especially throwing kicks. My switch kick bring the most awkward to throw, couldn't get thr hips to roll over, terrible aim, balance wasnt there. This video really helped change my switch kick for the better all around, thanks!!
Your the only lesson that actually describes what is going on correctly. Most just say to switch to a south paw stance but aren't actually doing that. Thanks for the clear explanation!
Insane, I've been training for a month and this absolutely helped my switch kick. I use to do it wrong just like you said just kicking up and as soon as I did the technique in this video my switch kick became horizontal. Amazing
Bro I've been doing martial arts for 4 years now and I've come to the conclusion that we shouldn't try to perfect techniques. Obviously we are Mixed Martial "Artists" so we should be paying attention to detail in our movements, techniques, range, whatever.. However just look at Shane in this video... He demonstrates how you should guard your face when throwing the kick, but then when he does the kick his hands are dropping and swinging to help his kick. It all comes down to what you're dealing with. It's all about Situational awareness and dealing with problem accordingly. Humans are not perfect, our strikes, throws, trips, defense, submissions, ect will never be perfect 100% of the time neither.
@@matthewreid1175 You make a good point. For me I'm always trying to make my strikes as powerful and as fast as possible, transferring force correctly, snapping punches etc which is a never ending mission I guess. Especially when your comparing your skills to your favorite pro fighters.

What’s weird is my left leg has always been my “dominant” leg but I fight in an orthodox stance. I personally think it’s because I was raised on skateboarding (this may sound stupid) and was always taught to ride my skateboard a certain way. I can hardly kick with my non dominant leg and the form is all off. This video helped a lot! Thanks!
I like to time the lead (left) kick when my opponent throws a cross, so his left body is completely open, and aim really low right on the liver! But kicking really high to the bicep/shoulder works for me to slow my opponent's punches down, and tire those arms!
Hey shane , I did great on my second amateur kickboxing fight. 2nd round tko. A big part of that is thanks to this channel and MMAshredded's channel. Love from chile

Same here, My left kicks are faster and harder than my right ones, I believe it has to do with the fact that you probably have more muscle control on the right side of your body, hence more balance when stepping on your right foot.....so everything feels a bit more loose, soooo faster stronger kicks
