He uses a lot of tri tone subs or what I call half step leads into the 7 th. Will look your tutorial over. thanks. I hear Barry Harris do this & it just adds so much.
A student of mine went to a workshop with Peter Bernstein. Peter almost yelled at him (...) regarding the first chord. "It's a diminished chord with an eleventh on the melody!"...
@@juliansanudo-kretzmann2497 yes but the chords right after that Julian, it's start att 2.39, i think he start with B... to Bb i c'ant understand whats he playing...thanks for your time Julian...
LaVerne is the real deal.. Houston is a hack, get a interviewer with some depth ... Scotts response is always "cool!" ... Scott has no business being in the same room as some of these guest .."Coool!"
right! .. even in the jazz world the "Media Heads" are allowed to dictate ... the Masters follow their line of questioning? .. Bologna! ... this is a perfect example of the Imperial Interview. its like Goldman Sachs hired Scott the Piano guy.
Andy Laverne! The man who helped me realize that I could play piano as an adult. Love this guy!
He’s a professor !
You ask him a standard and he harmonizes directly !!!👍👏
This is the best jazz piano version of this song I have heard to date.
listen to Bud Powell and Barry Harris....no comparison, La Verne is just not up the the same standard as Powell or Harris....not even close.
Lyle Mays live is also wonderful.

Awesome
seriously what three people would give this a thumbs down
+Mack Grout bravo
They were probably giving a thumbs down because of the interviewer
After Bill Evans came Keith Jarrett, and after Keith Jarrett no one. I haven’t heard anyone better than Jarrett and probably never will.
💛🌱🏵️😃
Do you have any videos on chord voicings? Excellent playing.
what exactly would you like to know about chord voicings. Maybe I could add it to my tutorial to do list. Andy is excellent!

I apologize but you must heard the changes of Barry Harrys at the London Conservatory.
Barry is 5 levels above LaVerne

What did the student think the chord was? I thought Edim7 was in the lead sheet and typical
@@jmarvins E half-diminished is written in the real book. The original chord was Bb°Δ.
Very intellectual.
Magic fingers...
can anyone help me explain what that voicing Andy use at 2.38...it's a B and Bb sus and Bb -9 i think...but not sure, thanks!
C minor 11 to F7 #11

Mirco Tinacci yeah it’s a Tritone sub after that. So F min 7 to B 7 #11 and then Bb sus
And the B 7 has a flat 9 as well

Andy does a nice version. The setting almost made me move on.
