On one of our recent live streams we discussed whether musicians should use UA-cam or Twitch if they plan to live stream. I have used both platforms quite a bit and I think UA-cam is the winner. I will say that I think Twitch is still very good for live streaming, but I think the fact that you can do EVERYTHING on UA-cam, makes it the winner if you were to start your live streaming/content creation journey today. Thoughts?

    Twitch or UA-cam?

Everyone covering this topic never mentions that UA-cam restricts live streaming to only those with a certain amount if followers and channel watch times. Twitch lets you start for day 1. You may not get any viewers but at least you can try. UA-cam forces you to wait until people already know or care about your content to allow you to even try livestreams. Start livestreaming on Twitch and upload your VOD to UA-cam to build up content and subscribers on both and then you will actually have the choice of where to livestream to.

You’re going to have to use both… the old fashioned way and just get out there along with a semi decent subscriber UA-cam channel. Just started a pop-punk band in Buffalo ny… maybe we’ll do a show together sometime… ya never know. I’m still learning how to record and just got a base MacBook Air M2 so I can learn Cubase or Logic. It’s a lot to jump into… do you guys run tubes or the never fail Katana MKII100? I’m about to get a tube amp (Marshall, Orange or Mesa) but the all in one pedals are overwhelming from when I played in the 90’s. Any suggestions on a all in one pedal w/looper for like $300-ish? Was thinking about the Boss ME-80 because I’m old (just turned 43) and I like knobs. Seriously, it’s awesome to see a younger generation play this music and honestly you guys kick ass. Good sound and you guys can play. Don’t be afraid to give your music some space… that’s how a nice riff and hook can elevate your status. Think Offspring and SoundGarden… Offspring was IMO the best pop-punk band of that era. Of course it’s debatable but what made them stand out was their riffs and how their arrangements had space. If you get stuck don’t be afraid to drop the tempo on a song. Not that I’m qualified to give advice but you guys have your own sound and if you were playing like this in the 90’s you would’ve had a record deal and possibly made the radio. It’s just different times but keep going! It’s always about the music and playing broke doesn’t make you like it any less. You guys seem like you’re doing alright tho… if you can grow your channel I think thing’s could change for you guys. Sorry for the novel, should’ve used chapters Lol. Good luck ✊

It’s giving UA-cam for longevity and brand building.
Twitch is better for making money faster right now while it’s still at the top for gaming and streaming.

True! I could see that, but Twitch is superrr hard to grow on. At least for musicians I’d say. I see people that are in gige bands start on Twitch and can barely get 20 people into their streams.
Seems like it’s the best fit for gamers still
