If you watch how deep Gasquet hits his groundstrokes, you get a clue as to why the Fed could eat him up. Almost every time that Gasquet's shots hit near the service line, Fed just blew him away.
To make a comparison here: Tennis vs Football Federer vs Djokovic/Nadal = Messi vs Ronaldo = Raw talent & joy for the game vs hard word & dedication = Winning ppl's hearts as well as titles vs winning as many titles as humanly possible = Ice cream the evening before a match vs a strict diet, both food & sleep Who's the best? I remember watching this match live and giving Roger the under on where it would last a full 90 minutes. For the record - 1 hour 27 minutes. I gave Gasquet an extra 10 minutes just for showing up and not making it a walk over.

It’s not all mental tho. Novak has a more high percentage tactic and Federers game is so aggressive that if he is even a tiny bit tight or slow I think it just piles up fast in big moments. And against a 2015 nole you can’t do that.
You are comparing a 34 year old to age 28. I would take peak Federer on a fast court, or peak Nadal on red clay, over peak Djokovic in a heartbeat. It is not about mental toughness; the Joker's main rivals weakened physically (not too much but enough) during the period where he was dominant whereas the other 2 were fighting each other during their strongest years and thus taking titles off each other.

I saw Cinci 2015, which he won without dropping a set, including beating Djoker straight sets in the final, just outplayed Djoker there. Then in USO 2015 early rounds Fed wrecked some good players, was unplayable. Like Cinci, Fed did not drop a set for 6 rounds. Does anybody realize how rare that is? Djoker dropped a set in 4th round and quarters. Fed never even got pushed to a tie breaker (except for Isner of course). Wrecked both Gasket and Wawrinka, only got 7 games ea. Then the unplayable drops no será Fed loses to Djoker in the final. What happened? Maybe, this late season slam was too hard on the body come the 7th round?
He was always too tight and scared against Djokovic in slam finals. His aggresive game relies o low % shots that you can't make if you're not loose and the right state of mind. Djokovic had the advantage of not being forced to attack first as he could defend better than Federer. And that's why he always won the important points

Yup. Definitely better when he was 30+. The first player in tennis history to play his best tennis after turning 30. Whereas literally every other player in men's tennis, including modern players declined after reaching the age of 29 (most actually at 27), Federer has done the impossible and actually IMPROVED after he turned 30. Unfortunately for him, he came up against the superhuman Djokovic and kept losing to him when Djokovic was 23+. Nobody had an elite session without the competition at full strength, that's just the nature of the sport, it's not possible. It was an amazing season. The best in ATP history. Djokovic faced Nadal(and Federer) on clay and grass many times, even when he was not in a great shape. Just look how many matches recently Djokovic played against Nadal on clay, and how many on hc. At least twice as many there are on clay. And Nadal cant even win one set v Djokovic on hc for 10 years. Again, in 2011 Nadal had reached like 8 big finals in a row or something, 3 slam finals in a row, just like in 2010, and he did even better on masters, only to get destroyed by Djokovic. Is that playing bad or simply being outmatched ? Nadal knew that facing Djokovic consistently on hc and grass will only boost Djokovic h2h over him, give Djokovic more confidence for their clay meetings and improve his already massive records. If you wholeheartedly took on that challenge the audiences appreciated the effort so you could lose to Roger and come out with your dignity intact. Quite often, however the rival would force a grim baseline slugfest on Roger, and then lose anyway.

Ah, yes, the MASTERCLASS, RF fans always like to use that word, for some reason or another.
It is always fun for Federer's fans to watch a guy who is not in his class or level get humiliated by good ole Roger, and in the meantime,of course, nobody will even try to remember to mention that poor Gasquet was 3 - 32 vs. Federer and Djokovic in his career.
100% - Gasquet was solid and had his success, no doubt, but of course not at RF level. The RFans will show this match (QF) and the following Semifinal match & claim "Masterclass" but they'll be oddly quiet about the Final. All of a sudden it's not "prime" Federer anymore, trophies aren't everything, blah blah LOL.
Gasquets was an average player at best, I don't think he ever attained a top 5 ranking or won a grand slam. Any of the top 3 when playing at their best can do the same to any average player who is not playing his best tennis. Nadal, Djokovic has also done the same to many players.

This just shows how good mr 40:15 was in 2015, partuculary the Us Open swing Cincinnati and Us Open. Way better than in any of the years from 2011-2015. Yup. Definitely better when he was 30+. The first player in tennis history to play his best tennis after turning 30. Whereas literally every other player in men's tennis, including modern players declined after reaching the age of 29 (most actually at 27), Federer has done the impossible and actually IMPROVED after he turned 30. Unfortunately for him, he came up against the superhuman Djokovic and kept losing to him when Djokovic was 23+. Clearly, age has had no impact on this man, but he was just overwhelmed by the greatness of the God that is Djokovic. We can only bow to his greatness

Thats exactly what he would have done in 2015 + WTF probably. So ? Whats the problem ?

Novak played some great tennis in that time, but it was not Federer’s best years, and certainly not Nadal's. Djokovic won almost everything he played that year though, made almost every masters final and won 6 of them. Made all 4 slam finals, beat Nadal at RG (even if not at his best, lots of people still can't beat him at that level). Lost to Stan at RG but beat him at AO in 5. Nobody had an elite session without the competition at full strength, that's just the nature of the sport, it's not possible. It was an amazing season. The best in ATP history. Let's just be happy with that.

The 2011 proves, without a doubt, that the narrative of Fedal being weak in 2015, or any other year until maybe 2021 when Federer retired is a completw and utter bs made up by the salty Fedal fans because they couldnt accept that there was a guy out there that was simply better than their favs, when all 3 were at their best. And the western media supported that narrative. Djokovic wasnt at his best in 2008, 2009 and 2010. He simply was nowhere near his 2011. I respect Federer more, cause first, he had more guts to face Djokovic over the years at hc and grass and did not lose early to preserve his fake h2h, and second he achieved more on 2 surfaces compared to Nadals one. But in that 2011, Nadal was 25, and Fed was 28,9. If Djokovic wasnt injured in 2017, he would be 28, 29 at the time and he would murder everybody just like he did at the first part of 2016 and in 2015. I know that Djokovic was really injured, unlike Nadal that faked and amplified his i injuries over the years as i explained, and how do i know that. Djokovic faced Nadal(and Federer) on clay and grass many times, even when he was not in a great shape. Just look how many matches recently Djokovic played against Nadal on clay, and how many on hc. At least twice as many there are on clay. And Nadal cant even win one set v Djokovic on hc for 10 years. Again, in 2011 Nadal had reached like 8 big finals in a row or something, 3 slam finals in a row, just like in 2010, and he did even better on masters, only to get destroyed by Djokovic. Is that playing bad or simply being outmatched ? Nadal knew that facing Djokovic consistently on hc and grass will only boost Djokovic h2h over him, give Djokovic more confidence for their clay meetings and improve his already massive records. So he decided to dodge wisely. Unlike Fed, who got the short end of the stick. But at least Fed was braver, i give him that. So, stats speak for themselves what happened. I do not accept any other narrative. I know what i saw, and i saw these players at their physical, mental and technical best, and there is only one winner among them, and his name is of course Novak "The GOAT" Djokovic.

Federer was fantastic in his later years, so is Djokovic now, but saying they were as good after 30 as they were at their peaks is missing the big picture.
That said, Federer fans saying he would wipe the floor if he was younger are delusional too. Djokovic was not at his full potential when he played Federer in his younger years and at his best, Federer didn't have to face a confident, experienced and physically taxing Djokovic. Djokovic in his prime was a beast. Different animal to his earlier years and later years.
