I have a 2000 bear tracker shifts sometimes but other times it won’t shift at all. The shifter just goes up and down and nothing happens do you have any suggestions.
Put it in first gear for reverse that’s how the moto 4 is
Yamaha timberwolf/Bear trackers have bad rear ends. Btw put it in first then pull the lever back for reverse
Bear trackers have a beefier rear end than the Timberwolf used.
That carb is for a 400ex I dont think that's stock for that bike
Try putting it in first gear for reverse. That’s how my ‘85 Tri-Moto 200 does the reverse.
Can you show the wiring on this four wheeler iv got the exact one but some idiot cut the lines all up in the front to install a start switch because they lost the key so now the damn thing won't even power on and I can't find any diagrams that make a lick of sense

Has the wrong carb on it, that carb is a Honda carb
The carburetor does not look stock, I recommend using a Timberwolf carburetor and intake manifold because the stock beartracker carburetor and intake had issues with air and fuel leaks, the intake was poorly designed. You can get a China carb for roughly $20. I'm sure you can find a cheap Timberwolf intake too. The Timberwolf model is "YFB250", so the parts can find ya :)
Hey Low and Slow!! I have order a proper intake and carb for the bear tracker.... I wnat to get this quad as close to stock as possible... The carb on it is for a Honda 250X or 300EX.... I can use it elsewhere.... Thanks for all the good info, watching, encouragement, and commenting!!!

hey im reebuilding my 2002 beartracker. do u know where i can get an oem carb for cheap? or does those cheap chinese ones work well? and is using the timberwolf carb and manifold an upgrade?
Do you still own it? It has to be in first gear to shift in reverse, sometimes you have to rock the machine back and forth to get it in reverse or forward. Most Timberwolf parts are the same, same engine. I have a lot of Timberwolf parts and some Bear Tracker parts if you still have it and need parts.
My timberwolf was my favorite 4 wheeler. I have my eye on another one that is just like the one I had before but in great condition. You will like that one when you get it riding.
just sold one of these after pretty much doing everything but new rings (she smoked) new buyer got cylinder, etc. mine had been flipped prior...

It really amazes me how in your country there seems to be endless bikes, karts etc that people just ride, botch up, ride, botch up so on so on until they no longer go. Considering I find them extremely easy to work on
You can use the edge of a razor blade and a heat gun to bring the color back out of those plastics. It last for a long time if you take your time doing it and don't use too much heat or pressure when using razor blade.
This looks a lot like a Yamaha timberwofe 220 I have except for the gas tank
I have one just like it, same year. Has to be engaged in first gear to get it in reverse.
Yamaha are notorious for reverse sticking. There is a procedure. But I can remember what the trick is. I almost think it must be in gear. Weird I know!

I adjusted the shifter linkage and it seemed to help a little

I wonder if it shifts like my Honda fourtrax 250 in that all the way down + pull left lever along with pushing the lock on that shifts into reverse
its got a lever down low, but you hav to have it in 1st i think
I’m not sure I’ve never owned one ! All I’ve had are Honda and 1 Polaris.
