Hay I'm back with good news! I got the same quad and carb and issue. Your running Lean or rich on the video. So that little screw on the bottom of you carb ya turn that all the way in! No not the idle screw it's the flat head brass screw air to fuel mix screw. Then back it out 3 turns start there! Engine needs to be warmed up! If you still get throttle lag backfire turn half turn out each time until problem stops, ounce stopped get on your quad do a load test in third gear if it's lagging power or bogs out keep turning the Air to fuel ratio screw out 1/2 turn out until you get full power under wide open throttle in third gear. Then fine tune your carborator. If engine gets to running hot go 1/4th turn out until engine maintains heat level then go a hair bit rich to protect the engine of heat expansion damage. Your welcome 😁 Ps. As your Tuning your fuel mixture yes you'll half to adjust your idle screw accordingly to correct RPM range. Wish I was there to help you tune the carborator and teach you the trick on how to do it correctly would save you Alot of frustration that I went threw.
I used this same carb runs rich as hell in the pilot circuit. Ended up almost completely screwing in the fuel mix screw and then adjusted the slide needle to the second notch up and now runs with no hesitation. Will eventually order a new pilot jet.
I haven't had time to get back to it. Thanks for the info. I will try it. My boys messed with it without me around and killed the starter clutch again 😪
Mine dies as soon as I try to give it gas but starts and idles fine. It also revs to the moon when a try to choke it. Would you suggest a similar fix or something different?
Check your vent tube to make sure it's not clogged with a mud dauber and then there's the little idle adjustment screw or air adjustment screw that has to be turned clockwise while also turning down the idle screw to get it adjusted perfectly
just did the exact same work on a 2004 beartracker and it has the exact same issue, the carb never came with any air-screw adjustment procedures so I'm on the hunt for it now....
Just want to say thanks for the video , I just finished puttingon new carb and it runs good ,, now gotta figure out why forward gears wont stay in gear ,, reverse works good.
Your doing a good job. There is supposed to be a needle sticking down from the diafram that's why is running bad. Those China carbs suck. Good luck. Tony
Thank you for showing how to remove the throttle cable no one else on UA-cam shows that… I wish you could have had some one hold the camera and show how it was removed but I think I can do it with what you said
Hey hot rod Dave just Thomas from Kansas City Missouri I have the same problem that you have with that what Bear Tracker 250 I replaced everything and I still have the same problem
I have yet to get that thing running good. I haven't messed with it in a few months but will again soon. I will make a video when I figure it out. The kids killed the starter clutch again so I am starting over.
Where you from bro?? I'm in Mississippi and I got a old bear tracker 250 3 days ago that was my great grandpa's It ain't ran in about 15 years but I wanna get it going if I can I just don't know what I'm doing
Hi love your video.I have a burnt out Yamaha 1999 quad with no vin number. I think it may be a Bear tracker. The screws on the manifold (on the engine)are centered at 70 mm and the outside of the manifold metal pipe is 41-2 mm.Could you tell me if these measurements match your bike. Have spent hours searching articles about Bear trackers but cannot find dimensions anywhere. Sorry for any bother caused, thanks
I am having the same problem with my Bear Tracker, it was gave to me and I really want to fix it and ride it. I bought a new carb from amazon probably the same one you got looks like. It runs and is rideable, but im having the same fuel problem where it cuts out and you can power through it. But just bogs down and tries to die especially on hills. Did you ever figure out this problem. Its aggravating me like crazy! Thanks
I put it up a couple years ago and haven't had time to figure it out totally. I had a few people say it needs bigger jets. I will try that next but not sure when it will be.
I have not had time to figure mine out but have read some good suggestions in the comments on my videos about the Bear Tracker. Go through the comment section on these videos and I hope to put something out real soon on ours.
I have the same one and it wants to bogging out nid acceleration everytime would you be able to pin point that. I just put the same carb on it you have there
Stay tuned. I am about to get down to the bottom of it real soon. I think the jets are just wrong. I have played with fuel mix and idle settings and it runs better but just not right yet. I will figure it out soon. I have just not had enough time yet due to customer cars getting in the way.
Have same issue on mine, replaced with zoom zoom carb. turns out the float was out of adjustment. Bowl wasn't filling fast enough for fast throttle response. Adjusted float and hasn't had an issue since
@@Thngsable I will check them but I dropped a video yesterday and it ran fine for a few hours . The boys killed the starter clutch again so I need to order another one.
The carburetor is made in China and the jets are are to big and this carburetor has bad reviews on Amazon as a piece of garbage. Better to rebuild the old one.
Got this carb on my beartracker idles decent bogs if press throttle playing with fuel screw can't find air screw on it hopefully can get it running smoother I'll be looking to see what u do
Been playing around with this still got it to run smooth no bogging if I take air filter cover off but as soon as I put it back and gas bogs so lack of air turned the screw 10 ways from Sunday same anything else cause this issue checked for vacuum leaks but none that I see
@@joshwatkins3057 I haven't had time to mess with this one in a while. I think I am going to buy new factory jets and see it that helps. You are having the exact problems I am. My 600 will back fire and shoot the carb off. I am not digging these cheap carbs
It is under the bottom. You have to take it off to make adjustments. Bad design I know. The idle screw on mine has to be just right or it runs like crap. I have been waiting on some parts for mine and will get back on it soon and hope to get it running better. I am going to adjust the valves on it as well.
I see you're reverse shifter has been modified, let me guess, that stupid plastic safety button was galled causing it to hang up and not go into reverse...A lot of beartrackers were junked because of that...
The chinese carbs come too rich mine ran like yours and eventually fould the spark plug. These chinese carbs come with a 156 main jet. Stock is a 95! China comes with a 42 idle jet...stock is 42.5 Put the original jets in from the stock carb. And move the needle down 1 clip to richen throttle mixture.

Great video. I'm working on the exact same atv for a friend with the exact problem. Thanks for the info on fixing it. Carb is defiantly a week design

Love seeing a JEEP in the background, we have 2 things in common.
Awesome 👍 I hope you will stick around and check out the other videos. Thanks for watching and welcome Team Jones

I will check for you but it will be a few days
Just bought the same exact 4 wheeler
Hope you have better luck with yours than I have with this one. It sat for years in a barn and thats never a good thing
I dont entirely know about mine it just smokes alot and is burning oil, going to look for a bolt tomorrow the o ring on the exhaust was missing one
Hi. I had to take top off air filter and running good. Not getting air?
It is the gass needle to the gass I turn it 3times

How do you clean a oil filter on a Yamaha Bear tracker 250
The way they have the carb mounted dose not seem very good I have the same problem

Have you tried adjusting the valves?
Not yet. I have had a ton off work in the shop and haven't had time for the atvs in a while. That is on my list of things to do to both Yamahas
those Japanese/Chinese carbs are junk.. im currently battling the same problem... not sure where to get a OEM carb or if thats even possible
Could need the valves adjusted too.

it is on the bottom. you have to turn it sideways or take it off to see it. Start with 2.5 turns out and play with the idle speed it helps.

Probably is. I will check it out soon. Thanks for the feedback
The Chinese carbs just foul plugs and will never run right. Put a $30 dollar factory kit in the factory carb.
I am definitely leaning that way. I put it on the back burner for now but the boy is pressing me to get it going
