If jones injury is more serious, i think she is replaced by either Rivera or Wong (they are my traveling alternates).
I feel like the level of difficulty that’s expected of these gymnasts is almost superhuman, hence all the injuries. The human body isn’t meant to do these skills over and over and over again, with intense pounding on the legs and feet. I’m a huge gymnastics fan and I watch absolutely everything, but the expectations in this quad just seem completely over the top. Watching college gymnastics for years now, yes of course there are also injuries, but elite just seems so ridiculous in comparison. There’s no way to add artistry in the way they expect with the amount of difficulty that’s also expected. I apologize if anyone disagrees but it’s just my opinion.
Just want to add my picks for the team, based on the recent injuries: Simone, Jordan, Sunisa, Jade, & Leanne. Events would probably go : Vault- Simone, Jade, Jordan/Leanne (depending who scores higher in qualifying) Bars- Simone, Suni, Jordan/ Leanne (depending on qualifying scores) Beam- Simone, Suni, Jordan/Leanne (based on qualifying) Floor- Simone, Jade, and Jordan.
The men are dubbed artistic and all they do is tumble. I love the men. They were the first clutch for me since '84 but I absolutely agree. This sport will break you. Those of us who respect it beyond medals and glory know it can disable or unalive you. No matter what comes, they're taxed and tired. Megan, with the new code for NCAA, it's going to be harder and harder to get a team for the Olympics. It's just not a logical path anymore with such few spots available and the amount of abuse their body must endure just to have it all fall apart with one misstep.
@@Appaddict01 not new whatsoever, I’ve been watching gymnastics since before the 2008 quad. It’s clearly getting more and more intense. I don’t know if I’ve seen this many injuries back to back happen to top runners for the Olympic team.

@@omglauraelizabeth If you actually crunch the numbers, Josc contributes very well to one of the highest-scoring teams at this point. Hezly is a bit better, but barely.
Of Hezly, Josc, and Leanne, Leanne is the least likely to make the team at this point. This could change if she has a great night two of trials and both of the others have errors, but otherwise, she just hasn't earned it with the scores. Hezly hasn't fallen once at the three nights of nationals/trials, she may be getting her consistency dialed in.
@@erinm9445 I just don't see a world where they include both Jocelyn and Jade. And Jade outperforms her consistently on their key events. Her cheng sucks. Her bars suck. Her floor is decent, her beam can be decent. But side by side comparison, Jade is better. I feel like they're going to want someone who can be used on bars and beam and that's not Jocelyn.
Not only is Hezly incons. she doesn't have the experience as a senior to cast doubt on an Olympian who is consistent. I love her. I just think she and Kaliya are being oversaturated with praise and stealing air time that could go Jade and Leanne. I read somewhere that Kaliya is dubbed the next Biles. Such disrespect. She's injury laden and a wild card on everything but FX.

With Russia not competing, I don’t understand why people think the USA needs “the highest scoring team.” The healthiest, most consistent team capable of getting the job done is the safest bet and you’re not risking the real danger of an athlete not being able to walk for the rest of her life just so she can compete on one event.
If Shilese doesn’t go to the Olympics, we are reaching Vanessa Atler pain territory. I will never forgive Alicia. Li Li better give me access to mental health counseling.
Honestly, to me all these injuries are a sign that the girls are pushing themselves too hard with skills that are just too hard and too strenuous on their bodies. Something is wrong with so many girls going down.
@@aliciamcdonald7105 Yep. You both are right. Alicia was a bit snippy when asked about the proximity of time between events. Yes, we know that the Timberwolves court is occupied. But there are other gyms. US needs to build or scout a centrally located event center and coordinate efficiently. This is going to be studied, heads will roll, and their reputation will be ruined.
@@creating1_c1999 Totally agree. I mean, these young ladies have been training so hard for so long, that their dreams could be dashed so cruelly because of over training and over competing is horrible. USAG needs to get its act together.
I wonder why all the injuries this year. Is it just bad luck? Is it because a lot of the gymnasts are older than they used to be years ago? So harder on their bodies? Is it something with the equipment? I am so gutted for Skye, Kayla and Shi
I think athletes who had minor injuries and should have taken time to heal kept going for the Olympic year and worse injury was inevitable at some point.
It's overtraining and anxious to get to Paris. Simone, Suni, Jordan, and Jade has the rest sputtering. Some know their limits and smart enough to see how rising to peak works. Others are simply ready to retire. I think Skye and Shi are there. Kayla you could see her disorientation at the last meet when she fell on bars. I was afraid of her hurting herself more than the others. She seemed out of it. Winded. Skye trains at WOGA and her sister Sloane once did as well. They come from the same family, similar genetics. Skye needs to go to college and leave WOGA. I don't believe in bad luck. Some athletes are born for more wear and others aren't. I continue to stress that there are perfect storms, but others ride on adrenaline and do harm to themselves. Skye was on a high. She was thrilled to place 2nd at Nats. But someone drilled into her that she needed upgrades to sustain that placement. These ladies put their bodies on the line for what is realistically unrealistic. Jade/Jordan/Suni are a different brand. This is why Simone trusts them. They have a high sport IQ. They know how to train smart and when to peak timely.
Campi was only an Alternate in 1992 the 6 member team was Betty Okino Dominique Dawes Kerri Strug Kim Zmeskal Shannon Miller and Wendy Bruce Strug was the youngest aged 14 yrs 8.5 mos. when team won Bronze and also made the team that won Gold in Atlanta in 1996 though she never won an individual apparatus medal while team mate Shannon Miller won 4 Apparatus medals Bronze on Floor 1992 Silver on Bars and Beam 1992 and Gold on Beam in 1996 Shannon's average score in the individual all around in 1992 was 9.9325
Chellsie and Alicia made such a big thing about not taking an athlete for one or two events unless they were gold contenders on both. Taking Shi would be a slap in the face to the other healthy athletes and she is not a gold contender on beam or really on bars either. Taking her with two injuries on top of that is just wrong
She's scratched Day 2. I don't think they are going to take her. They will have to hope for the best and keep scouting and hyping bars in the next class.
On another note, is Leanne bullied by the team? Nobody ever congratulates or talks to her, while Simone and Jordan literally talk to everyone else. Honestly just makes me root for her more and I don’t care if she isn’t on ‘Simone’s team’ 😮
@Nixmathis you guys? Am not speaking for anybody but myself, and pls don’t try and bully me for having my own thoughts, opinions, and eyes. You’re the one trying to start drama.
@Nixmathis YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT about some of these posters. @plp666 and others have made similar remarks before and it has always been that 'Simone does not support this one' and 'Simone does not like the other' and Simone this, Simone that. It has really been quite upsetting at times the amount of DRAMA they try to create around this young lady in particular. TERRIBLE!
Simone is a veteran. A highly respected/regarded brand who has generated tons of excitement to the sport. Youngsters fly all around the world to catch a glimpse of her. Future hopefuls move to TX to train with her. She makes friends easily. However she's 27. The young tribe that flanks her come from her family gym, WCC. Her compatriots have been on a team with her or they tour with her through Gold Over America. But not everyone in that team will have the same relationship or gain access to her. I have no idea why or how you surmised this as "Leanne is being bullied". I often wonder when people do this if they are creating a victim support group to generate attention when their favorite doesn't deliver. I saw this with a few in the past. Simone is 4'8". She's not bullying anyone. Leanne works hard, support her, but find another to trauma bond with. Leanne's problem is not Simone, it's Josc, Hezly, and now even Kaliyah, now that three women are down and out with injury. If you can find a way to get Leanne on that team, I'd be grateful. She was a traveling alt for Tokyo and I sincerely believe she deserves to have the spot no matter whose skills she matches, simply due to her seniority, experience, and marketability. But I will not support any post that has to put down or triangulate on one athlete to uplift another.
She still can compete bars. Just let her compete bars and put her on the team. Then keep monitoring her knees to see if she can compete in Paris. She can medal on bars if she can compete.

I don’t know if I am going to watch night 2 though, am too afraid for everyone. 😱 Huge credit and admiration for Shi to hit bars as well as she did. Also gutted for Vanessa 😢
Leanne hurts vault if she cannot do that that Cheng with both hands.
All these lower body injuries sounds like there’s a problem with the flooring 🥺
nah. This is overtraining on bodies.

I would be a gym nerd member but y'all don't ever give Jade the respect she deserves so i can't 🤣
Gymcastic is aashole central
@@deepeshmathuria yeah I have to be honest I'm only watching right now because there's no other videos talking about immediate reactions. I don't love them. The disrespect to certain gymnasts is gross.
Yep. And they have unrealistic expectations for single event performers "not needed" as well. 🤣
I feel like they're always quite positive about Jade.
@@charitybosua no they aren't. They give her backhanded compliments like "that's pretty good FOR HER" instead of just saying that she did well. They always make sure to talk about her like she's beneath everyone else. They don't have to like her, but it's pretty bold to call yourself the best gymnastics podcast in the galaxy then blatantly play favorites with coverage and make shitty comments like they do about her. She's one of the most decorated American gymnasts still competing. They need to put some respect on her name. She placed 4th tonight and they didn't even talk about her. They didn't mention that her Cheng was the best one done tonight, even better than Simones. They just act like she doesn't exist most of the time. It's gross.
i've been saying all along with or without Skye injury, the team imo was Simon, Suni, Jordan, Jade & Shilesse
Before blakely’s injury I was saying biles, jones, lee, Blakely, and Chiles. I said if Carey does what she did last night (upgrade her floor and get 14.000 and higher and brings back her Amanar) I’d put her in instead of Chiles.
With Blakely out, i am saying biles, Lee, Chiles, Carey, and jones (and she is provisional because of her possible serious injury and she has to prove up to the day before the 1st day of competition that she can do at least beam and bars or she is pulled from the team). If jones injury is more serious, i think she is replaced by either Rivera or Wong (they are my traveling alternates).
Skye over Jordan all day.
Events would probably go :
Vault- Simone, Jade, Jordan/Leanne (depending who scores higher in qualifying)
Bars- Simone, Suni, Jordan/
Leanne (depending on qualifying scores)
Beam- Simone, Suni, Jordan/Leanne (based on qualifying)
Floor- Simone, Jade, and Jordan.
Are you new to gymnastics?!? This happens every quad.
@@Appaddict01 not new whatsoever, I’ve been watching gymnastics since before the 2008 quad. It’s clearly getting more and more intense. I don’t know if I’ve seen this many injuries back to back happen to top runners for the Olympic team.
I think leanne wong should be the 5th member of the team. She did amazing.
Please explained how they can use the backups as a speciality person. I know if someone is injured there is a backup to take their place, but could a person do one or two people just do one area?

I am really looking forward to seeing Leanne’s floor tomorrow as well… If Shilese is not healthy I really think it would be great to have a “Tokyo” team of Simone, Jordan, Suni Jade and Leanne ❤❤ Hesley is a beautiful gymnast but she is way too inconsistent and Joscelyn is just still too sloppy although she did look way better today.
@@flipitgood1796 the problem with Jocelyn is that she fills the same role as jade. And Jade is infinitely better than her on their specialty events. She doesn't have a place here. She has a place as jades alternate. Or perhaps carrying jades gym bag 😏
Shilese is still on my team, she's too good not to go 😭
They’re cowards if they leave her off.

Despite her beam, Simone had an amazing day, that VAULT GIRLLL SHE DID THAT❤ and that floor omg. Imo, that floor was underscored (yes, a 14.850 underscored). It's like Simone, beam ans trials are never a good mix 🤣 i know she can consistently get those 14.800 ! a beam set with biles , lee and shilese will be so good.
Simone probably feels like she owes the tokyo team that gold team medal... Leanne needs the last spot the rest can try again
I have no argument if she does.

GymCASTIC is GYMFASTIC!
What did Alicia do?

Honestly, to me all these injuries are a sign that the girls are pushing themselves too hard with skills that are just too hard and too strenuous on their bodies. Something is wrong with so many girls going down.
Too many competitions in too short a time which is ABSOLUTELY UNECESSARY!
The team is the 4 Olympians plus someone (hopefully Shi)
They should take her. She has won two uneven bars world medals.
I can't believe Shilese is out😢
She isn’t
She still can compete bars. Just let her compete bars and put her on the team. Then keep monitoring her knees to see if she can compete in Paris. She can medal on bars if she can compete.
Praying for her 🙏. Hopefully, she comes back for vault and bars on Sunday.
