@@Manuelx98. Portuguese here. We also had that famiclone. Honestly wasn't too bad since it had some good classics on it like Chip & Dale, Dragon Ball Butoden (it was a good quality Taiwan bootleg of the SNES game), River City Ransom, and a few others.
Idea: the gamedude. A classic gameboy but uncomfertably large you could 3d print the body, paint it gray. The display could be one of those 7inch displays you find on amazon. It could run retroPi, or if you're into the challenge, original gameboy software. i hope you like the product of my endless brainstorming 😂
I am not a collector of retro consoles nor do I play retro games. But I'm a computer gamer since the 70's and find your videos extremely enjoyable, some videos are very educative (when you repair or refurbish), others are just great entertainment and some even bring me back to my teen years when I played on the consoles or had the gadgets you review. You're doing a great job, Eliott. Thank you for your videos on this and your other channel. I sincerely think your channels are between the best on youtube and you deserve much much more subscribers. “Santa’s on a budget this year” Lol I feel like anyone I speak to who doesn’t play games was gifted something like this as a youngster. Lovely video as always!
i love how absolutely thrilled Elliot gets when a game is just playable. i need to start giving that kind of energy to things that do what they're expected to
Wow, when you opened the box, i instantly got war flashbacks of having to go to the flea markets early in the morning with my family during the summer. Everything in that box screams flea market.
Oooooh my god, I'm so used to "knockoff console that's actually just a NES SoC" that the LCD "games" with the pre-etched graphics genuinely surprised me. Like, I thought those'd died off once actual mass manufactured displays got cheaper than making custom crystal displays. Wow. From the bottom of my heart, wow.
Wishful thinking but could the famicom adaptor be used on the original gameboy advanced? Understandable if its a proprietary device. The controller port looks much like a Sega or Atari controller port it would be neat if to know that they would work. Thank you for your time Sir. greatly appreciated vintage tech find.
I don't know if this is true. But "guncon" looks very similar to the one included with the infamous "Super Joypad 3" knockoff console from the late 90's to the early 2000's, which shouldn't surprise me since it is a knockoff product. But I can't confirm it since I don't have this one.
My name isn't Jimmy, but I was absolutely the kid who got these kind of things. And I was just happy to be getting anything. The day I got an actual brand new Gameboy Advance without even asking for one was so amazing to me I actually cried.
Wasnt the famicom connector 7 pin not like 15? They used a clock and latch system to read the 8 bits. 1 for each dpad and the buttons set as 1 or 0 like a shift register
3:48 Actually, that's a standard Atari controller port, also used by the Sega Mega Drive, Master System, Atari 2600, Atari 7200, Atari 400/800, Commodore VIC-20, Atari ST, Commodore Amiga, Commodore 64, MSX, ColecoVision, and the Tomy Tutor.
I had a “V-Com” console once. It’s a fake PS1 that plays nes & snes games, it even had a cartridge slot. Had a lot of fun with it for around 2-3 years.
I had a similar one called the "PowerJoy." I kid you not--the base unit was a Nintendo 64 controller (complete with a FAKE analog stick). It used two separate famicom-style cartridges for all of its games, the only cool thing about it was it had a light gun sticking out of the top with some rom-hack style nes games. I think the secondary controller even looked like yours.
3:49 The Famicom controllers were hardwired into the console. Nor are those NES controller ports. Those are DIN-9 ports, used with the Atari 2600 and Sega Genesis (and Atari 7800?)
Well, the six buttons sure reminds one of Saturn, or the later Megadrive controllers, but the two handles do scream 4th party PS controller. Would actually be nice for fighting games, if decently done...
I love how that GameBoy Advance has a link cable entrance when it has no use. I don't think that it'll be able to read my Nintendo e-Reader. That GameBoy Advance might explode.
I used to have one of this when i was a kid (Still have it around here in a box), although i think the box was different. The difference was the colors were green instead of blue and the cartridge sticker, which had a jack in the box, a gift and a drum (I think, ill search for it later).Tbh i was very dissapointed on how you could only play the games on TV, but it did its job, i just wanted to play NES games.
The built-in mode seems to be based on the Sunplus MCU used in the Apollo and derivative variants of Brick Games (albeit with much worse firmware); the sound effects were instantly recognisable (collector of 65 Brick Games)
