The gauge of a guitar string has a different timbre than that of a bass. You can drop tune & add processing that can make a guitar work as a bass, but in many instances an actual bass will have a cleaner low end frequency response

A real bass is always better. I should’ve specified that when it comes to being a one person band and you’re relying on looping, no need for a real bass and the Nether pedal will suffice.
