  • I finally get myself strong enough to undertake a real loop through Desolation staying at the cliff plateau below Suzie Lake, over Mosquito Pass through Rockbound Valley to China Flat, Fontanillis Lake, then over Dick's Pass and out. The trip start off well, but for the first time in YEARS, I face some real adversity on the trail and overcome it. This is the first of three parts. Expect the following segments after a few days - enjoy!

Just stumbled upon your channel this morning. What a splendid set of videos you have, i greatly enjoy listening to your trips into desolation. I’m surprised I have not seen you out there yet given how often you seem to make the trek 😊

Gorgeous sunset spot there. At the top of the falls. I can see why you wanted to camp there. Now I think I do too. I was up there last winter before there was too much snow. I have a video of it on my channel. It would be great to camp there when the falls are flowing well

Nice man. I envy you. Here in the Philippines it's still in the upper 80s with high humility. My wife has never experienced cold weather. I'm looking forward to taking her back to Sacto in the winter. Can't wait for part 2. Peace. J.D.

Are you a sadist? :-) I've never known anyone from the tropics that actually enjoyed cold weather. Be sure to apologize first (haha). But maybe if she's anything like you, she might fall in love with the mountains when she sees them for the first time.
