The reason why he is my favourite driver of all time. No bullshit, no drama, just truth.
That kinda fits in with Kimi Räikkönen as well. Hes my favorite but Nikki is top 5 at least

@____ but he did explain his gripes. The car wasn't stearing well, he said it in such a tone just to really convey how bad the car was handeling.
@Rosida Andriyana you really had nothing better to do today than to correct someones one letter off youtube comment...
..and profound skill
just joined ferrari, meets Enzo first time and tells him the car is shit. every other man would be fired on the spot. on other hand i think that bold honesty is what made Enzo like Lauda
mightress Yes : you have to consider that Emilia region in Italy is made of these amazing legendary persons. Bold honesty and totally passion for their job. It’s not a case we share so many motor brands in such a few squared km!! Ferrari Lamborghini Maserati Ducati just to tell ya the most famous!!
Enzo is a artist, if someone like Lauda isn't pleased with the product that is a machine of racing. Enzo like every good artist improves on the feedback and takes those words as something to do better by.
Enzo was a reasonable man, i think he thought Why niki was saying it shit , there must be a reason, then he asked reasons .
You have to remember that Niki delivered on the improvement he put his neck on the line for. If he didn't, I have no doubt that he'd have been gone. You can't bad mouth Ferrari and get away with it without delivering. Ferrari are so far detached that SV would have been demoted to second driver by now after all these mistakes. Although it must be said they've only had the fastest car on the odd weekend. MB has had the advantage above and beyond in the main. The way F1 is, unless you have the overall fastest car, you're not winning the title.
I'd tell smth like engine is good/ great but frontend understeers
RIP Niki...😞 you legend.❤️
l r yes he will
That's one way to look at it, the body is dead but the SOUL is always there
Funniest part for me
Niki: "I have sponsorship problems"
Enzo: "Don't worry we'll sort it out"
Niki: "how will you sort it out"
Enzo: "we'll sort it out the Italian way"
offer something that they cannot refuse
They offered something he couldn’t refuse
"Say your daughter went missing, then erh ... we could help you find-e her quickly, perhaps?"
Don’t worry, it’s all part of the Great Ferrari Master Plan

@@ReverseSideArms Ferrari's cars are extremely shit right now in F1 and they're on a constant downward spiral, it's heartbreaking.
Hahaha yes only Leclerc is worth any type of excitement atm
Goodbye champ. If only more F1 stars were as honest and no-nonsense like you.
Indeed. At least we still have Kimi around.
@@Thenalya True.
they really can't....F1 is now more corporate PR stuff, we occasionally get bits of honestly like Alonso with his "GP2 Engine, GP2 Engine" comments, or Kimi's no-nonsense with the press, like when they asked him last yr "why are you leaving ferrari to go back to Alfa-Romeo" he just dead faced paused "....because I want to? why do I need to give a reason for it?" or when he spins in practice rather than giving a long winded response "Kimi, we saw you had some problems out there, can you explain what happened?" "....I spun? that's what happened....I lost grip in the corner and spun"

2020 : Ferrari don't have a car to compete for the championship.
Niki from Heaven : ARGH! Not again you fools, i already told you.
Fancy telling Enzo that his cars are shit. I fucking love Niki
hermankatnip such was Enzo's arrogance. He believed his cars are special and that driving them was a privilege and that you were selected to drive one should have been enough.
Still happens to this day unfortunately. Some journalists that have given less than favourable reviews of Ferraris have been banned from reviewing them.
This is what I love about Lauda. You hear drivers like Hamilton today and they're great but in interviews they always have a barrier separating what they think and what they should say. Lauda was 100% honest, no bullshit. It's like there was a path in front of him that nobody could move him out, not Enzo, not being burned almost to death, just him and his goal.
Through observing and listening to Nikki, Hamilton has clearly learned how to handle ANY interviewer, he also now understands about negotiating with the factories and their managers.
Lewis Hamilton frustrates me with his public BLM support and climate change twoddle but he is without any doubt in my mind the best car racing driver of his era. It’s unfair to compare era’s there are so many differences..

Just a fact about Ronnies contract, he earned 110.000,- Sterling pound a year at Lotus in 1974 and 75. The exchange reates for Sterling pound vs schillling was in January 1975 40, so he was actually being almost modest ;-)
Imagine how different that exchange would be if they had the Euro...
@@MIGBMWLOVER Yeah, it would skip straight away to the WHAT??!
So the scene in the movie was very accurate
Apart from in the movie he was talking to a mechanic on the track side and in reality he was in an office talking to Ferrari using his son as a interpreter.
Other than that, yes the film was accurate.
@Chris Anagn. what an odd thing to say considering they had the great Enzo in the film and actually got someone that looked quite a lot like him.
@Chris Anagn. Enzo was the guy wearing sunglasses reading the news paper , in case you are the only person to not know who that was supposed to be.
You're welcome.
@Chris Anagn. but they did find someone, he was IN the movie.
@@gailraby1722 I think what he's trying to say is that Enzo should have played a bigger role in the movie. You can't just say there's no one like him
Enzo trolling the troll. Okay. That's good, okay. We fix the car, you can go 0.5 faster? If you cannot go 0.5 faster... you're fired.
That'd be a good point but those sort of improvements to the car's performance can mean a lot on a track.
It wasn't trolling at all. It was a bold man taking another bold man by his word.
They were both men of action
I think you misunderstand what trolling is. Being straightforward and just saying what one thinks is not trolling. Trolling is more playing a character with the aim to throw others mentally off balance.
Both of them stood on business
I put this man as a greater champion than Senna. Tremendous driving talent, extraordinary courage and no cheating, no bullshit. If he had not had that terrible accident, he might have rivalled Fangio.
But he won two championships after his accident...
IDK about that i think ayton senna was and still is the greatest f1 champion ever ,but i will say (if) anybody was better/greater it would definitely be niki lauda. Senna & Lauda are definitely 1&2 that's for dam sure. God only knows what and how many races/championship senna would've won (if) he wouldn't died 😭😩

That was good story..........this man is a legend in F1
Always great to hear Niki tell a story. Sad to hear of his passing. A true legend.
Yes, I am very saddened by his death.
People often forgot that he was a pay-driver who really has a great talent and instinct for analytical things in F1.
Every driver, no matter how great they are/were, started their careers as a pay driver.
I respect this man on a level that is rare for me. Hardened, determined almost beyond compare, blunt, straightforward and gives no fuck how you feel about it. Balls. Brains. Wits. Wins. Among the great sporting/racing stories of the last century.
Enzo fired his engineers for complaining about his wife bossing them around, then paid Lauda £3 million for calling his car a piece of shit and being right about it. Clearly nobody is more Italian than Enzo Ferrari.
Still for me the best F1 driver ever!!!
My favorite: Ronnie Petersen

Salvatore Loi the Worst humans being on the planet (see WWII)
Aidan Millward - He wasn't saying the car was shit. He was saying the setup was poor.

Lauda: "car is shit"
F1 fans: "what a guy!!! He's so badass"
Alonso: "the car is shit"
F1 fans: "so toxic!"
Ah, the hypocrisy.
there's a difference between saying that internally, to your team, and saying it publicly for anyone to hear.
Did Alonso tell them how to fix it? bc if not there's quite a big difference there
@@dsdy1205 Zak Brown talked about Alonso in his appearance on the Off the Grid podcast, I would listen to that as it gave more information about McLaren back when Alonso drove for them. Obviously, I don't want to put any words into Zak's mouth but it was positive comments with the caveat that he wasn't there for the whole time Alonso was in the team and both being racing drivers (leading to more understanding).
Rest in piece Niki. You have demonstrated how to be a very fast gentleman over and over. Respect. Say hi to my daughter up there.
He has a way of telling a story. Nicky is a good guy he just seemed a little up tight back in the day.
I started watching F1 in 1975 because of Niki, I liked the way he drove a car, I never saw him as up tight, he was serious and very confident, as a young kid I liked that.
I can remember his crash and I remember thinking on his return, "of course he's back, he's Niki Lauda" I wasn't surprised at all, my naive childish mind just thought he would live forever and he was a racing driver, what else would he do.
He was focused and serious // and at that level //. You have to be // to survive/ the jornee // that’s one great thing I learnt from niki / and he showed me how to drive too
I'm curious to know what went right for Lauda having the balls to tell Ferrari about their car when Prost did the same thing and got fired for complaining about the understeer in the car. Think Prost's words were "it drives like a truck".
Rusevelt Roberts Strange u are so curious about this comparison because .... Enzo è morto nel 1988 e Alain arrivò in Ferrari SOLO nel 1990!!!

Rusevelt Roberts He said "Because Enzo died on 1988 and Alain arrived in 1990"
Why can't I stop watching his videos?

As Hunt said: *FuckIt*
Nothing to do with Lauda, but a fun story none the less. In the mid 50s a friend of mine's father was an exchange student living in Milan, Italy. He and a fellow exchange student wanted dearly to see or get a tour of the Ferrari factory and race shop at Maranello. They took a bus down, and tried to visit, but were told "go away stupid American kids" at the gate. So, disappointed, they went to a local cafe in the nearest town. After some time lamenting their misfortune at the local cafe, a somewhat familiar looking man who had been sitting quietly in the corner introduced himself. It was Phil Hill, who was of course a Ferarri driver that the time. He was charmed by the kids genuine enthusiasm and decided to make their day. He told them "come with me", and "do not say a single word once we get back to the plant". "I will tell them you are my nephews or some BS". "Keep your mouths shut". Phil was scheduled to tag along with a factory tour being leg by Enzo for some rich big-wig customer who was having a car built. So these kids got the full VIP tour, including seeing the customer's car being being built. After that was done, Phil took them for a drive around the test track in a VW bug, and then took them to the bus depot.
