Love the looks of the 604 back in the day when Pininfarina was the default stylist. It reminds me of the great Fiat 130 Coupe and Lancia Gamma saloon, beautiful minimalist styling that modern committees can't seem to replicate.
Harrison Ford briefly uses one as a getaway car in 1987's Frantic. I always admired the looks and luxury spec of the 604. It uses the PRV V6 also used by Volvo and Renault as well as the Delorean DMC-12. They weren't the finest engine in the beginning but improved over time and could be made into respectable performers with turbocharging.
I found the 604 quite plain at the time, its design somehow limited by the use of "those doors" - not Maxi's this time, but 504's. Now, as to the wheels, first 604s had simple steel weels with round apertures in style of the 304 S of that time. And a three spoke steering wheel, as I remember. Until 1979, all Peugeots had chrome logos. "604" on the bonnet (a feature reintroduced by Gilles Vidal's last generation 508) and a simple chrome "Peugeot" decal at the back. I know that because as a fresh employee I drove a 1979 104 end of 80's. In my country, Peugeots in general were seen as luxury cars since our standard were Renault 4s and Zastavas 101 (those strange 5-door Fiat 128). Since an R4 cost some 5 million of whatever currency that was, a 104 was available from 16m onwards, my 104 GL6 with those big lights costing hefty 19m when new (I bought it used, of course).
Like you, I have always liked these. They are very smart, with a clean design. It's been many years since i have seen one, though. Apparently, only 8 604s remain on the roads in the UK now. Back in the day, my late Dad chose a Renault 30, which had the same engine. He looked at a 604, but did not choose it.
for ages the 604 was my least favorite Peugeot of the 04 series because it didnt have column shift and no manual sunroof. But in the last ten years or so its really growing on me. It is a beautiful car indeed😀
Very nice car and brochure. By the way, is it ok if I do a little video about my Mazda 323 brochure collection, and include a channel recommendation to your channel?
You can only have leather upholstery and air con on an automatic. My husband had a Citroen Xantia Exclusive that was manual and had leather and air con. Does that make him a strange man?

Absolutely agree with that.

The Talbot Tagora, introduced the following year, looks similar from the front.

Interesting info thank you
Am loving the videos, I noticed the 604 was actually smaller than my 2013 308!, how times change, loved the dual headlight wipers 👍
Thank you and yes lovely cars

Also love the R30!
@@quarterlight me too, I would love to have one, but they are nearly all gone!

Aw absolutely that a great honour - thank you
The Peugeot 604 was intended as a executive luxury car.

People do funny things with automatics. According to Peugoet nobody with a manual car would want two-tone paint. Where did they get these ideas from?
Rear end looks very Ford Granada . Too squared off for a Peugeot
