@BloemendaalFishing So it's safe to say it's likely to take a few years of sacrifice to make it an actually profitable venture. I think the editing process would be the thing that would be the most difficult to master, as it's all up to taste. You could easily spend a long time fine-tuning.
Very safe to say. It’s a nice compliment to my guide service, but I’d be a long way away from making a living doing it. I’m thinking 50k subs at least would be needed to rely solely on UA-cam, and that’s if you’re monetizing in other ways like merch or patreon or what have you.
@@BloemendaalFishing It definitely makes it more beneficial with the synergy from guiding. The interesting areas for growth would be the affiliate links and product endorsements. Haven't considered those being an added bonus as much as they were.
Very interesting. Very interesting indeed. Did you have any issues getting to 4000 watch hours with 1000 subs? I'm noticing, personally, that I won't have enough watch time/hours to earn income when I reach 1000 subs. My watch hours are closer to 2500 now. When I had 200 subs, my watch hours were almost 2500, so I felt confident at that time 4000 hours wasn't going to be a problem. It basically has not really increased over the last year. So I feel like something changed at UA-cam with the way they calculate those hours. My content would have to change to more informational in order to achieve the 4000 hours of time. My best videos over the lifetime of my channel have been the tutorial/guide videos. My content is more a mix of entertainment with subtle hints of information that will not come across as explicit teaching of fishing. I don't feel like I'm going to make massive adjustments to what I'm making though, because I enjoy what I'm doing now and it's sort of a break from my daily career, too.

That all profit or is that taking into consideration of expenses like gas, bait, propane, and wear and tear on equipment?

I think full-time UA-camr might make more money that way than they do with the actual UA-cam ads
