I’m watching this video 9 years later and ngl Im pretty impressed with what the corolla has evolved into with the current generation. Definitely doesn’t scream grandma or budget anymore. Doesn’t beat the current civic or sentra atm but still pretty decent
I'm really not sure why so many people like to hate the Corolla. For me, I can't think of a more perfect car than a Corolla. The reliability, simplicity, affordability, gas mileage, etc. are all exactly what I am looking for in a car. Another thing I see a lot is that everyone likes to boast the Civic as being far superior to the Corolla, but in my opinion they are equal.
Im also 16 and i got this from my grandfather as he is too old to drive. He handed this down to me and honestly i find it a great car. It gets me from A-B. Im 16 i don't need no Audi or BMW it's a great car and my friends love it. At least we have a nice pretty new car while i see other people driving cars from a decade ago. Great practical car
Ty! For pointing that out it's a car to get around not to try to impress anyone I own too and I Love it! I hate that the guy complained about a car that's for commuting not for racing.
You'd be surprised to find that most Corolla drivers might be young professionals that simply want a car they can count on everyday for many years and get a remarkable resale value. In the developing countries, Toyota is the top pick for used cars and that's by a long short.
Those 4 speed autos last FOREVER they never break. They are super reliable. We have a corolla with the same transmission and it has never broken on us.
Yeah, we're definitely working on that. We choose to maintain the "candid" unscripted style of the review due to the fact that our long-term viewers and subscribers enjoy that style more. As a result, the natural "ummm..." effect takes place. We are working on a new method which will deliver the best of both styles to our audience, so stay tuned! Thanks again for the feedback! :)
People buy this because it's plain, simply, and reliable. I bought a used 2010 in 2012 with 34k miles on it for $10k. I drove it until late 2018 and sold it to a friend with 190k miles and he's still driving it. The only thing ever down was a break light switch that went out. Even had the original battery from new up until a few months ago. I actually really miss it
Don’t know why everyone from Edmunds to youtube keeps bashing this car. It looks sporty, it is efficient, it is reliable, and it gets great gas mileage. It is the most dependable car on the road and everyone knows it. If you want a reliable car that won’t break your bank, this is it!
I'm 16 years old and I happen to own this car. It has no problems whatsoever, and it gets me to school, work, and I can take it out when I go hang out with friends. People need to understand that this is NOT a sports car, so stop bitching about it being "slow". Go buy a Ferrari or a Aston Martin if you want speed. It's pretty good in gas mileage, considering how much i use it. Bottom line: It's practical.
I learned how to drive in a Corolla. It's a very smooth ride and although the acceleration isn't very great, it's sufficient in city. What i am really noticing though is the lack of gear from the transmission and lagging throttle response. But overall, a practical car, and effortless to drive!
This is what I was looking for. " lack of trottle response " I thought that there was something of with the transmission of my corolla but it only had 50k miles. Good to know this is not an issue related to damage.
Exactly! It's a car, not a rolling computer. I have one too, only it's the XRS Sport, but I had the LE before this one, and it was a really really good car. And they're not quite as lazy on the road either. It's plenty for me.
I love how people still give you shit over this review you did over 5 years ago. And for anyone wondering, reviews are always pretty biased, they have to be because they are based on the opinions of the reviewer. If someone thinks (x) cars boring, and you ask them to review an (x) car, chances are they're gonna tell you the car is boring. Look at several reviews from different people to get a more well-rounded opinion on the vehicle. But if you want an unbiased review you'll have better luck with a spec sheet. You've come a long way, Sofyan. Keep it up
If the car was free you can't complain too much. We just recommend that when you are ready to spend your own hard earned money to check out everything before making your decision! Glad the car is working for you now!
For most buyers, that's all that matters. A car for the masses is NOT a toy. Your average buyer has no desire to throw this sedan around the track or to make the tires squeal.
You seem a bit resentful that the car is so bland, but my sister has one and even as an enthusiast I must commend it for the things it does very well: cheap, reliable, efficient, reasonably well made, decently refined, easy to buy and sell transportation.
Wow you’ve came a long way from this video🤣. I remember this car. It was definitely not the most comfortable car to ride in as a kid. And most car during this time didn’t have the best materials, but this was bad. It had good looks, reliability and the interior layout looked good. But the potential was not realized. I’m glad toyota has ALSO came a long way from this car.
If we had to choose between those two, we'd go with the Corolla. If it was our money though, we'd spend a little bit more and go with either a Honda Civic, Ford Focus, Volkswagen Jetta, or Mazda3
I had a 94 Corolla. Slow as shit, totally basic and completely cookie cutter but that's what made it so good. Manual everything, cassette player and had working A/C. It was cheap to maintain and it never ever failed me. Toyota should have a sporty Corolla though with a proper 6 speed auto or manual, good suspension and powerful engine.
I have put 80000 miles on my corolla, and it has a total of 180000. It has been so reliable, and I have had no major problems except with my radio. Best car I've had!
Which current compact cars have you driven besides this corolla? We find that the people who are most unaware of the vehicles short comings just haven't driven the competition yet.

The comment about how "it would come to a shock towards car enthusiasts that most people would like the corolla" is a bit dumb. Most people just need a car to get place to place, and the corolla suits their needs with a touch of fun. The only time I've heard someone who's not a car enthusiast dislike the corolla is because it's small. Other than that, good review!
Greetings from the year 2020! A lot has changed since this video was filmed. Millions of people are dying all over the world from a pandemic. Donald Trump is President of the United States and Toyota still continues to sell about 300K Corollas a year. My advice to you back in the year 2012 is to buy stock in a company called Pfizer and one called Tesla. Trust me, you will be glad you did.

so you did a review to talk shit about it you should of called it a rant instead of a review
Maybe they should put a 12 speed gear box in? No. It's a car. And a hell of a good one at that. They may not be flashy, may not have a 4GHz whatever blah blah system (that'll give you problems later) It's a back to basic car. That's what they were intended for. If it were such a dreadful car to drive, maybe you shouldn't have in the first.
Why do y'all have to hate if you don't like don't watch simple no one wants to see y'all complain
All of you people need to chill out honestly this car is good for a first car or something it's in the competitive league for $25,000 and below so don't expect some amazing quality car plus It's amazing in gas so yeah stop giving the car a bad rap
