In my opinion, the male Yasogami uniform jacket looks better when it is open (like how Narukami normally wears it) than when it is closed (like how Yousuke or Naoto wear it.).
if you look at the background characters in the anime, some of them also wear it with the jacket open like Yu but he pulls it off the best
I feel like Naoto pulls the closed jacket look pretty well
the seven sisters uniform ties are to differentiate the grade level, not gender.
1st year is green
2nd year is orange
3rd year is blue (purple in the video)
this can be seen on the npc’s in seven sisters and tatsuya, lisa, and Chika (third,second, and first year) as well as Anna in EP

A uniform that is missing from the list is Goro Akechi's uniform. Although the school name is not mentioned, he does wear the uniform.

The scrolling image makes it kind of hard to see the outfit designs. If you had put the same image, smaller but complete off to the side it would've been more coherent. Great video though! Also you missed Akechi's school uniform, the peacoat and striped tie (akin to Loki) makes it one of my favorites. iirc the name of his school is never mentioned. (Hope my comment makes sense. English is not my first language)

It's really fun to see uniform designs in manga and games and artists go all out to do something different. I think this is due to the fact that when I think of Japanese uniforms the first thing I think of is a stoic, minimalist pattern, with little room for creativity or identity of its own.

Trinity Soul had some pretty good uniform designs from what I remember. Which isn't much considering its Trinity Soul.

The "repeating black and grey shapes" pattern on the Yasogami skirts is called a Hound's Tooth pattern.
I really appreciate how Yusuke never transfers to Shujin. I see so many stories where an important character is introduced and the plot shoehorns them into the school with the other main characters. Hell 3 and 4 even do this with Aegis and Rise/Naoto respectively.
But persona 5 just lets Yusuke be a student at a different school the whole time and it's really refreshing.
I mean, to be fair, you don't really see many school in 3 and 4 since one is in a remote man-made island while the other one is in a rural town. And in 3, you kinda have to live in SEES dorm so might as well transfer to Gekkoukan.
For 4, Rise could get a pass since she's in the same shopping district as Kanji but Naoto, well, I know she's there so she could easily get in touch with the investigation team but it's such a waste... I rather see "the special event" with her wearing another school uniform rather than Yasogami's
On the other hand, it will be weirder for P5 since it's Tokyo. Pretty explanatory. Even P2 did something similar since it has the similar metropolitan setting.

She was on hiatus because she wanted to get away from showbiz, and her grandmother just so happened to live in Inaba running a tofu shop, so she had family that could also help her hide from ravenous fans, but she still had to attend school, and what better than Yasogami High. (Even if there were other schools in Inaba, she’d still very likely be pestered by fans, and assuming Grandma Kujikawa is friends with Kanji’s and Yukiko’s mothers, due to all three businesses being around the shopping district iirc, she would’ve gotten the Yasogami recommendation from both of them, then giving it to Rise).
None of those people felt shoehorned in, Aigis was transferred with leverage from Ikutsuki because having members of SEES (y'know, a school club) together is better strategically speaking and Ikutsuki kind of just saw her as a weapon to guard the members of SEES, Ryoji Mochizuki was transferred there to mirror Makoto and it's supposed to set off red flags in your head because it happens a soon as you part ways with Pharos. Rise and Naoto are transferred for good reasons too, it's a small town and they happen to be living there temporarily.
I can't remember if we ever actually see a third year female from seven sisters so I could be totally wrong, but lisa and cozy's uniforms' may have a diferent bow color than tatuya's tie because (going by age) they should be second years and tatsuya is a third year. I'm not sure how prevalent those kinds of per year differences are in real life, but I've seen them from time to time in anime and manga as ways that students can easily identify their status in relation to one another.
I hope it's not in real life.
Because if it is, there's gonna be class influenced bullying from older students.
My big problem with the Shujin uniform is that I can't stop seeing their pants as pyjama pants.
Ikr? Even back in 2018, when I saw a Let’s Play of the OG P5, I always thought Joker’s pants looked like PJ pants.
I guess if we’re counting obscure persona uniforms that no one talks about, there’s also the one that Narukami wears in the flashback cutscene of Persona 4 at the very beginning of the game. It’s nothing special though.
For me best ones are Shujin and Jouin ones by far. They really went deeper with their fashion concept with newer games.
I like most of them tho. Because black is my favorite clothing tone.

I like how in P5, none of the party members except for Joker and Kasumi wear their uniforms in the standard way. Ryuji wears his with the jacket open and the ZOMG! shirt, Ann wears the white hoodie under her jacket, Makoto has the black overall vest, and Haru has the pink sweater. It fits with the theme of them being rebels and outcasts.
Really cool idea for a video. My top 1 is the Persona 5 uniform hands down. They all have their charm and many are iconic, but the P5 cast really rock theirs like nobody else does. Still mad respect for Raidou's drip.
9:10 ooo, the P1 manga is pretty good. It elevates P1's story and characters from "being there" to "actually good". Would recommend.
I’ve always had a soft spot for the P4 uniform. I cosplayed Yu Narukami one time and while I don’t wear it too often, I will ALWAYS take an excuse to wear that coat. I didn’t stitch the entire thing together, the stitch marks are done with fabric paint and a line stencil, but it still looks so good. Always a great time seeing it in all its glory

Forgot to mention Hazama’s Uniform from SMT If… not sure why he wears a different one from everyone else, but he does and it’s definitely a cool school uniform.
As i remember Hazama has already finished school at the start of the game, so he isn't weariang a uniform, he is just wearing clothes
One detail you seem to have missed is that Shujin seems to have mandatory suspenders as part of the uniform. Ryuji wears them down in typical rebel fashion, while you can sometimes see the girls wearing it to hold their skirts. Makes me wonder if they are under the blazers for most other characters.
We can see Joker wearing them in a scene in the anime
I love the St. Hermelin uniform. I can’t really say why, but it’s also a reason as to why I love Ideo Hazama’s design so much, his uniform is very similar to the one of St. Hermelin’s.

@@weebuschrist2560 I like the 70s/80s look for the uniforms in P1, I'm a big fan of that kinda aesthetic for pretty much anything. It looks old and clunky but I like it. Plus it looks raggedy enough to remind me of some of the uniforms high schools near me had growing up.

My favourite is probably Raidous because of the extra drip he adds and I also like how Airis outfit looks but for the base uniform I gotta go with the female Yasogami uniform or the smt v one.
I swear the mainline Persona uniforms are top tier drip. I really want an authentic Yasogami uniform thats authentic as Shujin’s Academy’s uniform blazer from Insert Coin. The closest I got was a uniform cosplay that doesn’t have strong endurance. We need a party member outfit drip comparison or review.
Shame you did not discuss more about SMTV’s uniforms having both a Japanese gakuran and sailor uniforms and western uniform designs on the characters. I thought that was a great part of the uniforms because you can tell they go to the same school while varying the designs on each character subtly (unless you are Dazai).
Persona 4 will always be the most stylish to me, what with having in roman numbers the year of highschool the student is in at the moment on the neck.
The gray version of the St. Hermelin uniforms from Persona 1 aren't anything special, but I really like the green version used in the Persona 5 DLC pack.

First of all, SMT5's uniform is straight fire and P5's uni slaps too. Second, if my uni was purple, I would probably bitch about it less
its so funny to me as a kid who went to mexican school that you like the shujin pattern most because that's just the standard pattern for most mexican schools. so it felt SO normal to me like i can feel the cratchy fabric falling apart at 7 am on the school playground LOL (not dissing your opinion, the blazer and the buttons really tie it together its just funny how its like. a cultural thing right. id never consider that pattern "cool" just bc its so commonplace)

Still crazy that we know absolutely nothing about Akechi's school and it's uniform. I always headcanon that the school is called either Jiyu or Kaiho. Which means Freedom or Liberation in Japanese.
Seven Sister's is probably my favourite, for the males atleast. While I think Yasogami probably takes it for the females. Hell, whenever I play P5 I always put the males in the Seven Sister's uniform, and the girls in the Yasogami Uniform.

Yeah, I can’t get behind the weird carbon fibre look that the Yasogami uniform has… I mean it’s nice, but it always gave me the png squares vibe. When I first played P4 I thought a texture didn’t load
My top 3 are:
1.-SMTV' jouin uniform (blazer version)
2.- SMTIF's karukozaka uniform, yeah you might say the pants are wacky but shujin's academy has pijama pants too (theyre just "cooler" because theyre red and black)
3.- shujin academy (the blazer is cool)

As someone who had blue and white uniform, the white have a tendency to go brown.
To me, Raidou's school uniform is so iconic to The Capital's Protector that. It felt incredibly bizarre to me when in the Raidou manga. You see other male students wearing the same uniform.
I am pretty sure in-game, you never see anyone else wearing those outside of Raidou himself. And Shinado. Whenever he is taking Raidou's form.
EDIT: This reminds me that, there is a video on Nico Nico out there where FeMC. Aigis and... Moh Shuvuu!? Are dancing to the tune of Renai Circulation. And Moh Shuvuu is even wearing a Gekkoukan High uniform! And this gave me the mental image that Raidou would absolutely rock the Gekkoukan High uniform!

theres an explanation as to why yusuke wears a completely different uniform from the other kosei students, and that's bc he's a scholarship student and can get away with it - although i do like the fleur de lis top i wish he wore the kosei summer uniform instead of the purple dress shirt, IMHO it feels a bit off lmao. we also see the kosei uniform in a few mementos requests, mostly worn without the blazer. he also could be wearing a slightly different uniform in a doylist sense to make him stand out compared to the shujin students of the main p5 gang -- everyone in p5 customizes their uniform to some extent, so yusuke completely altering his allows him to be seen as a more 'eccentric' character. sorry i just needed to ramble about that :')
I headcanon his reason for not wearing the uniform to him not being able to afford it. Maybe he only has pieces of the entire uniform because his scholarship only applies to the tuition and not the additional fees that come with buying the uniform and textbooks.

I think the tie and the bow on the seven sisters high uniform are supposed to represent the two games. The purple tie goes with the original innocent sin, and the orange bow goes with the original eternal punishment.
