Jeff, I'm 39 years old, been training since I was 17. I played pro baseball (not MLB unfortunately) and therefore it was my job to have trainers and stay fit year round. I retired 3 years ago but stepped up my game in the gym, partially due to more free time. I want to tell you, in all my years with trainers, none of them compare to you. I had some good people around me no doubt, but i wish I had your information back then. Just from discovering you 4 months ago my training and nutrition changed for the better. Thanks Jeff, I will be a lifetime follower.

I never do squats, lunges, or hip hinge exercises. I always feel it in my knees, which means I am not doing them correctly, so I stop immediately. I want to be able to do these exercises, now more than ever. After watching this video and using the hand/band movement he shows, I did a hip hinge for the first time and didn't feel it in my knees. I will be watching more regarding squats, but I really wanted to learn hip hinging the most. So easy, simple, and I am grateful!

This is great, thanks Jeff! I do squats all the time, and while I try to be careful about my form, my knees often end up hurting the following days. After watching this video I immediately stood up and tried it out and can feel the difference between pinching my hand vs. not by how I rotate my hips. I'm excited to see how this prevents me from jacking up my knees while squatting. Thanks!

hey jeff....can you make a video to fix uneven spinal erectors do to tight Q.L or uneven hips??
my whole left back is bigger than the right (including left obliques and abs)and i get lower back pain sometimes. I've started to loosen up me left Q.L and it has helped but i still feel my left S.E activate and the right one not at all unless i extend my back turning to the left. i tried doing a bent over band good morning while slightly turning my torso to the left and that activated my right side pretty good but i dont know if that is a safe exercise.
    hope you see this message.
    Keep up the great videos!!

I did notice that when i do lunges with my left leg forward i get lower back discomfort. Any ideas?? Does it have to do with the same weak glutes, tight spinal erector??

Oh my effing goodness! This is amazing I tried to keep my spine and a more upright position thinking I was keeping my back straight like they say to do. I understand now just as long as my back isn't rounded but I definitely do need to come forward. now I understand why I was having such pain in my knees and my lower back! I was for sure that I had the correct form! ....lol but now I understand the hip hinge. I understood as soon as I put my hand in the creases of my thighs and pelvic region. lol great stuff! Thanks. I have absolutely no pain in my lower back or my knees! I've noticed that all the strain is being put on my glutes and my quads, exactly what I wanted thanks 😍 💋💋 💋😘🤗💞💋♥️

Could you talk about the QL in a video, how to strengthen it with Reciprocal inhibition, and how the obliques work in relationship to it? Not many people talk about the QL as a source of back pain and how to strengthen the muscles to help prevent it. If twisting oblique exercises etc.
I coach gymnastics and have a couple athletes dealing with really tight QLs. I have a quick fix but I want some of your advice on how the muscle works and ways in which we can balance the hip and core so that the QL doesn't fire when it isn't supposed to.

Hey Jeff: This isnt a comment regarding a hip hinge.
Can you please do a video on "how to retract your scapula whilst bench pressing"
I have never been able to bench more than 100 kg; that is after nearly 30 years of training.
I have a strong back wide lats; but when i bench my scapula comes away from the bench.
I had an epiphany when you did a feature on setting up for a bench press
Really appreciate your time and help

Hi Jeff love your channel!! Can you answer this please...How muscle memory affects nutrition? So..we are back in the gym after a longer period ( lets say after two years of no lifting ). If we know that we will gain muscle back that we lost at faster rate than it was needed to build them in the first place...would that mean that it would be wise to make bigger caloric surplus or not? I cant find any scientific data on that subject. THANK YOU!!

    Hi Jeff,
I'm a female distance runner and Athlean-X follower currently training for my first marathon. For the past year I have been doing the Athlean-X and Ultimate Arms programs while still following my running training. As a result of your programs, I have been running my half marathons faster and injury free! (Strength is where it's at! Thanks!)
As I prepare for my first marathon this fall and increase my running training, in addition to following your programs, how can I make sure that I keep my muscle tone and gains while also making sure that I can have enough endurance to finish a marathon? I keep hearing that it's not possible to be both an endurance athlete and a strength athlete, but I really want to be a physically strong distance runner with a lean and toned physique.
I currently am repeating the Ultimate Arms program (love it), aim for at least 100g of protein a day, run 2-3 days during the week, with a long run on the weekends. Should I focus more on nutrition and calories? Do I need more carbs or protein? Should I keep maintenance runs to a minimum and focus mainly on my long runs?
    Thanks!

Great video Jeff, as always. I do have a question though. I am pretty confident I hip hinge correctly, I always viewed it or described it as a seesaw. I have pretty strong glutes and not so strong of quads. So I try to do some squats to hit my quads harder. I do a front barbell squat, which helps, but my 2 favorite exercised to hit quads is 1. My back leaning on a swiss ball against a wall with a kettle-bell for some weight and 2. Squatting with cables. Both of these allow me to keep my torso more upright, not hinging so much at the hips so that the quads do most the work. Am I putting way to much stress on the knees? I don't want to damage my knees, but I need to find ways to take the glutes out of it a bit and make the quads engage more.
