    About Nugget Noggin:
Hey! I'm Michael, I love to get outdoors and discover awesome things
with my metal detector. I started treasure hunting when I was 12 years
old and shortly after received my first metal detector. Since then, I've
been hooked and just love going out to search for the unknown. You
may see me in the woods crawling under an old house or diving down
in the river to search for rings. Wherever the adventure brings us, I'll try
my best to keep you entertained.

I like that you have such an eye for the past and that you left the snake alone. It was beautiful.

i think it was a Northern water snake, many people get the 2 confused including me, but it had a small head i think it was a water snake.

i will be at the school house site this fall. it is very overgrown in vines and stuff now. I like to detect in the water when its warm, i have a old grist mill im detecting around in the water this weekend, should be cannonballs at the spot, soliders camped there.

With all the lead in that creek, I shouldn't be surprised if it were thoroughly contaminated. I'm very happy you didn't try to hurt the snake, though. I love snakes.

Can't be sure but it looked like a corn snake and harmless. But also if you're not sure then treat them like a loaded gun.
Speaking of guns, what I found weird was that almost every one of those bullets looked like they had never been fired since they showed no sign of deformations. There may have been a flood in the last couple of decades that carried them there. And I would check that crack really hard for gold because you are right about that being a perfect spot for it to settle. Chances are that if someone detected that spot before the bullets would make them give up.
    Best of luck.

Good water hunt ,maybe a bit of gold there too. Most people that sees a water snake like that they call it a copperhead or cottonmouth but they are not a copperhead or cottonmouth will stand it's ground and not run from u for they know what they can do to you ,the only time a poisonous snake will run if it's hurt .Always treat them all with respect unless u know the type of snake u are dealing with .

Make a video explaining the different settings on your metal detector and also what a "98 signal" and what other signals represent. I am sure someone else has the same questions. Keep up the videos I have been enjoying them for several months.

The handle thing looks like part of the hardware used to mount a stock-rack/sideboards on a truck. The hole would have been threaded and then screwed on a eye-bolt hooked to chains which would hold the racks together. I use to have a set on my old firewood hauling truck.

In California, the a lot of enviromentalists spend a lot of time and resources to try and stop metal detectorists and dredgers from doing what they do on pollution arguments and such. We are the ONLY ones who REMOVE trash, metals such as lead, zinc and mercury from the environment. Dredging also frees up food and microflora trapped in the stream bed for use by the fish and life that lives there. It also creates spawning holes that would not otherwise the there. Your doing a great service here!
