You are going to be successful in whatever you do. You are a very organised young lady with a boatload of determination and drive. Good luck to you in the future.
I like to keep the syllbus in front of each subject, some teachers have different citation requirements. I write the due dates in my planner and put in notifications in my phone for the day before.
I will forever be sad that my university doesn't provide us with syllabi or any kind of overview of classes before class starts other than vague module or learning outcomes, we don't even get recommended textbooks until we go back. It makes everything rushed and disorganised and scrambled during the first week and there's very little I can do before semester starts. God dammit Ireland!!!!!! 😭
Whoaaaaa. I wish we were told what we will be taught in lectures... For most of them we only have like a 5-lines' resume. Or nothing at all but the title of the course. I don't even know what period we may study until the lectures begin... I don't know what to prepare before the semester (and well, we only got 3 days between exams and next semester, so...).
Just for the fun... I had my exams this week. For some subjects we didn't know what type of exam (like, questions, essays, commentary...) we would have until we got the exam paper in our hands. Easy to prepare for, eh...
Hi Mariana. Perfect timing! I'm doing that right now... my semester begins on monday and I'm super nervous, I have a lot to do!!!! Thanks for the video, really useful. Greetings from Colombia
I was surprised when I saw the post on ins then came to UA-cam directly. I'm starting a new semester and I was at a confused time. This video just helps IN TIME. Thank you Mariana!!!❤️❤️❤️
I watched this vid few days ago and its Sunday today and my new semester (2nd sem) is gonna start from Monday I'm so glad that I've prepared myself on time. Last semester was a huge mess in the beginning bur your vid helped me a lot. Thank you sm for all the tips❤
This video was very motivating! I'm gonna start my semester exactly in a month and I'm preparing everything as I possibly can so I can improve my GPA. In my country at least, it's based on a 1-10 scale and I'm a lame 6.7 so I have to be ready to get straight A's or B's as a minimum. Thank you so much for your videos!!
About the arc system: How do you archive your papers from last semester? Did you buy bigger folders with the same "punch-style"? I find your notebook quite interesting but I'm just wondering about it's practicability...
Oh wow. And someone actually prepares for the semester.... Wow. I mean a spring semester.... Wow. I just try not to be late from the first classes and find the rooms 😂😂😂🤔
😂# Coincidence I'm getting ready for my Odd Semester; bang! I get to see your video! The 1) syllabus reading, bibliography books hunt, 2) the folder making, planner part is what I'm doing right now😄 And the way you talked about all the other things made me feel that I'm the one in video; we both are so similar! And yeah, your videos are really helpful for many out there. Cheers!
1. Requirement Engineering 2. Start reading before semester 3. Don't be scared of teachers 4. Have a book for papers 5. Organize digital file system beforehand 6. Calendar 7. Set up back up
I would love to see a video on how you use excel to see where you would like to stand in class grade wise. I’ve never seen that system before and think it’s a great method to help students stay on track and figure out what to prioritize throughout the semester xx
Thanks for sharing. I'll hopefully be prepared for the new semester within a month and a half (I'm gonna start on the 4 of March). Hope those exams this month will go well ♡
Our semester just started but classes will begin on Monday ~~ I'll definitely try these ideas and also incorporate some of the things I have been doing for the past years. Thank you!! 💙
Hi Mariana, thank you for this video! Your videos are very helpfull. I also use the Arc-system for my classes and I love it. I saw you struggle with the hole puncher, I don't know if you know this, but there is an Arc-hole puncher. I use it very often for my papers and other documents. It works perfectly.
How do you tackle your syllabi? Do you print them for reference and how often do you refer to it? What do you do with your past notes from previous semesters? Do you throw them away or do you keep them as reference?
Could you do a how to stay motivated video please? Sometimes I find very hard keeping up my motivation at university, and I think it would really helpfull. Thanx for your videos 💕
Thats a good idea to go through the computer to organize folders and file from previous semester(s). My computer isnt organized at all. I think im going to do that and make a folder for my up coming semester too. Thanks!!!!
Awesome video Mariana. It was so helpful. Also I've been watching your channel for a while and I think that your videos are not just helpful but also very soothing.
OMFGKAKBSKSKDKC I WAS ABOUT TO BUY THE $70 HOLE PUNCH FOR THE ARC NOTEBOOK BUT YOU JUST SHOWED ME A HACK THANKS FOR SAVING ME ALOT OF MONEY 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Seeing the Portuguese on your laptop makes me so excited to start learning! Any tips? My class is Portuguese for Spanish speakers so I hope knowing Spanish will help me learn.
I wish my school had the permission to skip class and stuff because of work. I have to work full time soon, and be a full time student, and I’m so worried about how I’m going to handle everything. That’s why I’m watching these videos lol
i stopped using notebooks and binders now i only use folders. i have 1 folder for each class (gonna have 6~7 next semester) where i put all my reading material (i study social sciences(?) so its like..... lots and lots of reading) and blank papers for my notes. i do this bc its cheaper and carring a full notebook/binder is too heavy
First great Video really motivated me 👍🏻 and i would like to know what MacBook Model you have. I have a 13“ Late 2013 and I am thinking about switching to an 2015“ one
Your videos are a great help for students. Thank you

I think this is very helpful, however i think taking full control over our grades can put too much pressure for exams; i used to do that but it didn’t work because i was more interested on my grade than actually studying
I have literally never heard of full time working students not needing to attend classes all the time! What country are you in? I’ve worked two jobs before and went to school full time, that would have been so handy
Dear Mariana! I love your videos, because they have so many inspiration.. My question is: do you use still mind mapping-method? If you do, when? You doing the simple note system and also mind-mapping? I want to use both of them, but I can’t when should I use simple notes, and when mind mapping.. Thank you for your answer!
How do you handle the anxiety leading up to a new semester? You'd think I'd be over it by my 5th semester but I'm not. I'm still getting underwear to class late to exam missed the bus (I don't even take!) nightmares on the nightly. and the new semester isn't for another month! How much more prepared do I need to be before the nightmares stop?? :O
Ao contrário do que muita gente pode pensar, os professores na flul não são bichos! E os da área de História até apreciam quando os alunos enviam e-mails como o teu (embora não seja costume da maioria dos alunos) Espero que tudo corra bem! Beijinhos*
love how your videos look. your videos have been a great help for me hahaha oh and by the way, do you still print out your notes or just write them down?
My school doesn’t give us the syllabus until after school begins so we don’t know what chapters to read before the semester begins. It sucks because its harder to prepare.
Hey! Since you are taking history courses can you make a video about the way you study/take notes for history? It's my second year studying history but I'm still getting used to all the info dump we get. And most videos about note taking are for science or law (which has it's own way of studying), and most "how to take notes for history" videos are made by science majors or high school students so they use a lot of color coding and categorising info into "year, location, people, event, etc" which does not help at all in university since professors care more about reading articles and documents and understanding thesis, big processes and culture of the time period.
Well, last week's video is about note-taking. Everything you see there are History notes and the methods I applied were applied for my History classes, so maybe you could check it out? :)
0:27 Download and read the syllabi

2:00 Prepare notebooks

3:59 Prepare calendar: semester and class schedule (digital or analog as you see fit)
4:34 Create back files of all your school related documents
4:46 Bureaucratic stuff: social security, statutes, government paperwork boring but important stuff
5:28 Planner organization: set up pages for classes - lists of teachers, project topics, etc
5:53 Calculate class average ahead of time to gauge what grades you want and what you need to pass

Joy Rowan Casey that’s how it is in my country as well.
Maybe you can look for other syllabi with the same name but whose courses are taught in another university. Just for reference
Same in India.
Same here in Mexico 😥

I look for this exact kind of video before every semester and can never find what I'm looking for so thank you so much for this!
can you make a video on how to take notes from a textbook as well as how to read textbooks faster??
I think she did something similar in the past, but an update would be welcome. 😉
About the arc system: How do you archive your papers from last semester? Did you buy bigger folders with the same "punch-style"? I find your notebook quite interesting but I'm just wondering about it's practicability...
in this video: ua-cam.com/video/uhHLlDmXOjk/v-deo.html (at 3:30) you can see that she uses a normal folder :)

4. Have a book for papers

6. Calendar

I feel like your English is a lot more fluent now compared when I started watching you ❣️.
Thank you! My college will be started in 3 weeks. Long way to go and I'm getting bored.

Nice! I use recycle paper (paper with only one side used) to take my notes. I have been doing that since 2013 :)
Honestly I am in the middle of my semester... I'm just here to motivate myself ♥️
Thanks for sharing. I'll hopefully be prepared for the new semester within a month and a half (I'm gonna start on the 4 of March). Hope those exams this month will go well ♡

This is such a beautiful video. Loved it Mariana....
I needed tips so badly..😀
How many classes do you take per semester? How do you manage all of that while working?
Where do you put your past notes? And how do you organize it? Thanks for the videos 😘
Can you do a video on how to organize a binder ?
Mariana, onde você comprou esse perfurador individual para adaptar as folhas?

This is amazing! I do the same thing except the statutes!
Hey! I love your videos they really helped me but where did you get that binder with 11 rings?
So motivating! I was wondering where is your note book was from? Keep posting the great content showing how to become organised :D
